A lot of things, and all his agency's investigation has turned up so far is that some of the EVIDENCE was manipulated (ie not all of it was, and so far they can't prove that any of it was demonstrably false, although his fans would tell you otherwise), so after discussion with the other members he voluntarily withdrew to save the whole group's reputation
