@@afrodesiac8064he only announced himself the last time he pounded on the door. And he stood off to the side so there was no way to verify if it was a deputy. The fact that the deputy didn't announce himself the first times he pounded on the door, makes you think something strange is going on. And maybe the last time, the person yelled they were sheriff's office just to get him to open the door. Otherwise, why didn't he announce it from the beginning. That is why the airman brought a gun to the door (possible home invasion). Besides, he is allowed to have a gun in his home. He never raised it towards the officer. There was no reason to shoot him. The officer should have told him to drop the weapon not just shoot him. It would be different if the airman had raised the weapon, but he didn't. If these officers don't get punished for their poor decisions, people are going to seek justice in other ways.

He was on FaceTime and could have been yelling at the screen. A neighbor called the apartment manager because of screaming who sounded scared and the apartment manager told the cop she had heard screaming and slapping coming from that area before but didn't know the exact apartment
Obviously when combining the two situations it's going to appear both were from this apartment.

You're using hindsight! You can't do that!!
The officer did not have the benefit of hindsight!!!
He was called to a domestic dispute (whether or not that was the case - that is what he was told!). These calls are the most dangerous officers face!
He could hear the guy talking to someone (although in hindsight, he was on a FaceTime call).
So with the info that the officer had - he thought someone was in there with him, and that they were in danger.
The officer was brave - he should have waited for back-up to arrive, but he wanted to help the apparent victim.
Although not wrong, you probably shouldn't open the door for police with a gun in your hand (the video shows he knew it was police)!!!!
We have the benefit of taking our time, picking this video apart with a "fine tooth comb". The officer was goung to a disturbance call, saw a gun, and had to make a SPLIT-SECOND decision!
In hind-sight, the wrong decision. But, I'd like to see you and all the other critics do better!!!

Are you sure the man would not raise his gun to shoot you, if you were the cop? Or, you will not shoot until he has raised his gun and shot you? The cop probably did not have his pistol in his hand when the man was opening the door. And, according to the video, I am inclined to believe the man immediately extended his left hand to show to the cop he was not a threat when he saw the cop pulling his gun out of his holster. Very unfortunately, the cop did not want to take a chance and he chose to shoot first to protect himself.

FYI, since the whole video isn't shown here: the young man did *not* raise the gun and point it at the deputy. He never had the time. The deputy *immediately* drew his own gun and *immediately* fired off a barrage of bullets. The deputy gave no warning. He didn't draw his gun and demand the resident drop his gun. He just saw a gun and decided he had to shoot. No more than two seconds elapsed, literally, between the door opening and this young man being shot in the chest. Just because he answered the door ready to defend himself in case whoever was outside wasn't in fact a cop.
The whole thing is insane. The family is right to be infuriated. One more life snuffed out by a thoughtless, trigger-happy cop.
