Just curious of the color of the clay. Is the clay naturally grey in that area? Or, is it because colorant is added to the natural brown clay?

It's supposed to be natural instead of adding colorant. The purplish grey, brownish yellow, maroon and whitish grey are the most common colors

at 6:42 it is already fired. It's never glazed because this particular clay is porous when fire in a reduction atmosphere and is said to enhance the flavor of the tea. Glazing will of course create a glass-like surface on it and and ruin this characteristic
