This project took 9 months to complete with plenty of challenges, frustration, joy, and satisfaction! I hope you enjoy. Chris
works well.
Could have been 2 months with power tools😂 JK man great work!
I am finding cool and fun, but that must be not good for hips and back if plan making it for long periods of time
I live in South Bend Indiana . I'm 70 years old love your video you don't need to say a word I understand you well
Thanks. Talking takes too much effort!
Extraordinary work. Nice to have you back here.
Thanks and great to be back!
You problem solving skills are so impressive. Seeing a solution to a problem at a flea market is extradinary.
Thanks so much! It was a wonderful adventure.
You're the kind of guy you want to have in an apocalypse you can build anything
No doubt! 💪
You are amazing Chris! You have unending dedication!
Thank you! It felt great!
Hi Chris, I started watching this at lunchtime and it is past midnight now because I watched sections at a time between all the other jobs I did today as mini-rewards for getting stuff done. This was a great project and certainly highlighted your skill, patience and craftmanship. Great job, thank you.
Best Wishes, Brendan.
Thanks so much Brendan.

Phenomenal! Chris! I just LOVE the way your mind works! Outstanding!
Thank you!
Just wonderful. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Cris, congratulations on your patience and perseverance! you have proven again that the will wins! you are another number one!! Greetings
Thank you!
Thank you Kent! Great job!
Chris your channel is amazing!
Thanks so much
Kent is amazing!
Bloody legend, hard work and determination proves will, will out over doubters.
Thanks! Actually someone expressed doubt that I could do it and the rest is history!
Beautiful work. It might sound weird but I really liked the copper water tray. You will also need something for flattening the stone every once in a while. Really awesome work.
Thanks. I really enjoyed the copper pan as well!
Not bad from using old pieces of junk.. You rebuilt the stone made the polishing wheels refurbished the treadle lathe brought in a an old chain saw jig to hold the chisels and lastly used a carvers Vice for in and out adjustment.. but this was so long.. keep going it’s nice to see things that are not used repurposed again..☺️👍
Thanks!
Wow what a project. An incredible amount of work and I liked how you repurposed that tile cutter as the tool rest--that was clever!
Thanks! I enjoyed all the challenges this project presented.
I have a pencil sharpener just like that one, Chris! It was in my grandparents' home and I remember using it when I was a wee bitty tyke. I'm 65 now and keep it in my shop and my grandkids use it.
They are forever useful!
Excellent work! Congratulations Chris!😉
Thanks!
Nine months? And to you, a child is born! Congrats on a great project. You have the absolute best flea markets around you. Crikey.
Ha ha ha! Thanks!!
@@ChopWithChris what do you do to stop the chisels, augers and plane irons from going rusty over the winter? My workspace is open to the elements, and even the oil I place on them isnt working well enough. Tips?
I use paste wax - really thin coat.
@@ChopWithChris do you melt the paste wax so that it goes on thin? Johnsons? Or do you make your own?

Outstanding!
Thanks!
Wow.
Just..... wow.👍
Thank you!
Some serious ingenuity right there!
Thanks! I saw the flywheel in a box of junk and the lathe idea popped into my head!

This was WOW... we missed you, but this just prooves that waiting can be good.
Thank you!
Astonished. Very good work.
A hurra! from Brazil.
Obrigado!
I really love your long videos. Hope there are some new Bowl Videos coming soon. They really help me relaxing
I have a carving coming next that I think you will like.
Outstanding thanks
Most welcome
As a tip for soldiering copper, the solder will always follow the heat source, so if your soldering a pipe that sits vertically and you need the solder to flow up inside the joint you would put your heat source above the joint, which will draw the solder up, so in your water container, you would have wanted to put your heat source on the outside of the box, while soldering the inside joint, to draw the solder between both pieces for a water tight seal. Great job on everything brother 🤠👍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ahhh! Thanks for the advice! I have so much to learn!
Incredible work !!! Congrats !!!
Thanks!
Exquisite! Nice job!
Thank you very much!

This video really justifies/enables the hoarder in me. 👍
Ha ha ha! I agree because “you never know when you’ll need it”!
Extraordinario trabajo. Un fenomeno
😄😄👍🏻💪
Excelente trabajo. Eres un Crack
👍🏻💪
Another great exhibition of skill love the copper pan might be your first time but you beat me on making it clean i never get nice looking ones
Thanks. I found the copper pan oddly satisfying!
I miss your videos. I wish you would post more often again. Nice job.
Thanks!!
It's good to see you are keeping up with the technology, by using CAD. Cardboard Aided Design, that is. I've done this, too. It saves time, and it's recyclable as well.
No doubt!
Mais um excelente trabalho realizado. Parabéns pelo empenho e dedicação. Sucesso no canal...
Obrigado!
Awesome Work!
Thanks!
Nicely done 👏
Thank you!
Incredible! Must have taken a LONG while!
Thanks! Yes, 9 months of "fun"!
I wouldn't be surprised if you made that sound effect XD
No need when there machine sounds are so beautiful!
Boy, it's fun. Really like this. Use safety gear when working with old items like band saw.,,👍. I wish to do, but for my laziness 😂😂
Thanks!
Thank you my friend
You are most welcome!
I’ll go to the flea market any day! I loves me some flea markets! One man’s trash is another woman’s treasure! 😉
Exactly!
Well done. Lots of imagination.
Thanks!
top job, respect !!!😊😊😊
Thanks!
You should have bought the other grindstone (first) and make another one so you could switch grits similar to a diamond stone. But honesty not only did you buy a good one you brought the stone itself back to life.
Another great idea. Maybe that will be another project.
wow 9 months. very cool foot power lathe.ive never seen one before. i use my power drill clamped to my bench as a ghetto rigged "lathe" haha. i like the old machines a lot. need to start going to flea markets more. tY for sharing. new sub and thumbs up for you..
Thanks!! 💪
I'm delighted!

Особенно впечатлил "Very high-tech design". :)))

Gracias muchas gracias.
Gracias. Lo agregaré a la lista.
You and FFD restoration should collab someday.
I need to check them out.
I still wanna see Chris vacuum the shop.
That’s what brooms are for!
Like your style enjoyed your video I thought it was only me that did things like this
Right on! 👍🏻
Great video. I like you keep remnants and pieces of things because waste not, want not. Right? Good job. 🎉

I just watched this video, and or your channel, for the first time. And 10 minutes in I subscribed bro. My friend! You made a wooden lathe! I’m already impressed.🙏💪✌️❤️
Thanks and welcome to my channel!
impressive
Well thank you very much!
Excellent video. I just hope Mrs. Chris does not notice her tea pitcher has gone missing. You get a like and a sub.
Ha ha ha! Thank you and welcome to my channel!
Yes! 👍🏻👍🏻
Bravo
Thank you!
10:01 that sound 😌
👍🏻
What you could have done is save the dust when you carved out the center and used that in the resin to give it a more naturao look but im not complaining as mustard works just as well.
Great idea! Yellow is kind of my channel color so I went with that.
CAD, Paul Brodie calls it cardboard aided design. Great video.
Exactly! Thanks!
Very innovative!! What’s your fascination with hand tools etc? I’ve watched quite a few of your videos & you seem to do your utmost not to use electricity 👏👏
I like using my hands and mind to create things without using electrical power tools. The challenge is good for my mind, body, and soul.
A long time ago you done a video, while making a huge racket downstairs, your Dog kicked off barking & you had to tell him to “Shut up Moose?…I’m doing an ASMR video” is he still about, nice looking animal.
Unfortunately we had to put him down. He was a great companion!
@@ChopWithChris Sorry for your loss
Thanks.
That looks like natural sandstone, could you have cast a grindstone using cement and abrasive or isn't the bond strong enough?
Where are the thrust bearing races?
Oops. Don’t have the races. Thanks for letting me know. 👍🏻
Tormek has nothing on you…
except the huge price tag.
👊😎
Exactly!
I wanna know where this flea market is cuz there's all kinds of treasures there lol
Sorry - too secret! 😄
nice bro
Thanks
I’ve always wanted a stone to sharpen knives on like I’ve seen in the Philippines. They attached it so they pedal a bike to turn the stone. I can’t find one anywhere.
They are hard to find. I got lucky.
I wanted to know if these are effective

Anyone else thought of the b.c. Comic strip watching the beginning of the video?
Please explain! 😄
Ahh - I get it! I was a little lost because you did not capitalize “BC”! 😜
@@ChopWithChris yeah i know I'm a lazy keyboard ranger. You really had me guessing on fixing that hole. I remember somebody said anything can be fixed with epoxy . Good fix

Slotted screws; Philips are a manufacturing expedient.

Teflon tape goes on clockwise🕰
I knew someone would point that out 😄. Nicely done.
BALLS! Oh, yeah, Check! Lol.
Thanks!! 💪
Chris why did it take you so long to work out the speed if you thought of a push bike gears
you would
off done it quicker 😮😂😂
It was fun working through the options.
Please be patient!

MUCH less solder. Why silicone when you've got solder right at hand? Wrap teflon tape clockwise. You're supposed to be filing, not scrubbing.
Thanks. My 1st time soldering.
Why do you have the shop lights on ?? I mean since electricity is so overrated….
Oh these are actually fireflies...
History log - 1:36:51 - Cheat Used! 🙂
Nope - those were fire flies in the tube! Nice catch!! 😄

👍🏻
laughing at you at the flee market lol my question did you take raw american 3 dollar bills
I always keep singles in my car for the flea market. It’s the one place where a single dollar matters!

Ha ha ha!
It's cute but you didn't have that junk on the stone outside. With having to lowerthe junk you are using on the lathe to get it to work, what are yu going to do put a water drip on the stone? You must be a flustrated engineer.
Sorry. I don’t understand your comment.
You characters that do these theatrics when posting on youtube what's that all about?????????????????????
What do you mean?
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE PUT OUT MORE VIDEOS !!! I'M TIRED OF SEEING VIDEOS FROM "WOODWORKERS" WHO ARE USING LASER'S !!!! TO ME, THAT'S NOT WOODWORKING !!🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Thanks so much! I will do my best. How many of my videos have you watched?
Just don't lie to yourself .High technology and counterfeit antiquity .For professionals - this doesn’t work !!!
I agree you should never lie to yourself.
I understand the content, but does it justify.
Is there any point in these inventions? .Or is this just an advertisement for your channel? .
I enjoy using my hands and mind to create things. Its good my my mind, body, and soul. I post videos so other people can enjoy the journey of the process.
