Someone did this for me once. I was having such a hard time, had just escaped an abusive marriage, filed for divorced and a restraining order and moved to another city. I was standing at checkout with my groceries, when my card from my personal account didn't go through. I realized at that moment that my now Ex husband had taken all my money from my personal account. I was embarrassed and humiliated. I started apologizing and saying I would put all the groceries back. A man standing behind me swiped his card without saying anything. He just smiled at me and nodded. I started to cry and thanked him. He leaned in and whispered "My mom used to have bruises too". I will never forget that man. He helped me start over without realizing how much that one moment changed my life.

Again, can't limit this to you and me. Once he does it to, so called, strangers, he is bound to run into people that do not want his money. If he really wanted to help someone he would have said “hello. I would like to pay your bill. Is that ok?” BUT HE DIDN’T.
Instead he refused to say a word when the customer asked him “what’s happening?”. He purposely created the chaos hoping the cops would come, so he could exploit the situation that he himself just created.

Any time you have an alternative, you should shop somewhere else. More than 90% of the money spent at a Walmart leaves the community and the state. They cap their employees to just below full-time to avoid paying benefits and then show their employees how to go online and apply for food assistance and medicaid so that taxpayers can cover Walmart employee benefits. They've had countless issues with unpaid overtime, lunch and break issues, not meeting the state requirements when employing people under 18 - basically any labor law has been an issue for the company. And more than 2/3 of what they sell is imported, mostly from China, because they often won't contract with American manufacturers despite being the largest brick-and-mortar retailer in the US.
It is important to remember though that some people have no alternative. The Walmart business model has always been to drive out competition, even if it meant opening a second store that they didn't expect to succeed - just so long as they can get their competitors to close down, then cut back to one store.
