Morph market isn't bad I got my first python their a couple days after Christmas last year 2020 and it's almost his birthday he was born in November it probably depends on the seller but mine was really good he's doing well to this day bigger than before definitely

Thanks for this. I'm not a breeder, I'm more of a "collector", all though my collection isn't big. I have a few morphs that I would like to get, I own 2 of the morphs that I like, and there are 3 more I would like to get. As someone who is just wanting to buy certain morphs, and not wanting to breed, this was still helpful advice as to what to look out for on morph market (I've bought both my ball pythons from morph market).

I honestly believe I've found my life's passion in Ball Pythons.ive been studying and researching breeding and the hobby for well over a year. I recently got a baby male us bred regular (although he has a lot of white and some interesting markings) to learn husbandry. His name is Raa and I love him! He has only reinforced my love for the hobby and I'm now making plans to breed. I watched your vid on starting small and it def makes the most sense for me. I will prob go with 6 fem to 2 males for my project. Starting with basics, lesser, pastel, leopard and mojave for my first 1 male to 3 fem project. All reasonably priced basic must have genetics. Unsure about the 2nd group of 4 snakes but am open to any advice... Just wanted to say I've come across a lot of "big" breeding channels but have found myself turning to you for mentorship. I feel like you take a very realistic approach while providing solid advice on interesting and extremely useful topics. Id do anything to sit down and talk with someone like you over a drink lol. Jjust wanted to say thank you for all the solid tips. New Sub here! Hopefully some day I make it to the reptile show level and get a chance to thank you in person. Much respect from AZ!

When you go to a show, you need not worry about being scammed.
No, seriously anyone who s selling you a snake online saying the baby ball python eats “regular size mice”, asks if you are still interested in buying their snake and if so “we can pick a time and location” as if it were an underground deal of some sort.
Yea, that happened and I decided I’ll wait til the Reptile Show date.

“There are two things you need: 1) a muse and 2) a benefactor (One who confers a benefit; a kindly helper: as, “the great benefactor of mankind”) “
    - Rosemary’s Baby (remake)
The Muse will be the other breeders & their snakes as your benefactor can be the friend who tells their friends, who in turn tells their family & friends, who then gets the word out of what you have someone they know will want.
So, be apart of the world by the internet, showings and good friends who has contacts of their own.
Oh and one more thing, the Ball Pythons will always be the Muse who’ s colorful scales and unique personalities will keep you guessing on what colors, patterns and gene combos they can create when pairing them together.
They truly are nature’s Muse (as in Greek mythology…not the rock band).

Morph Market is doing a new thing where a "known" seller can verify a new seller with a video call to show your setup and animals. Which I think is super cool since, I will be a new seller next year. I don't buy from new sellers, I'd rather pay more than buy from a "new seller". I bought from 1 last month, I knew I was taking a risk but the price was great, but the shipping packing the seller did was the worst ever. I'm actually surprised the snake is ok after it. No insulation, the snake was in the box(which was oversized) with 6 deli cups as "cushion" no real packing materials

    • @OlympusReptiles
      @OlympusReptiles  Před 2 lety +2

Wow. I don't know about a known seller verifying a new seller. I could see some people possibly with the "known" tag selling that. Call me, pay this much to me to get "verified". I like the try by morph market, it is above and beyond.

It’s easy to sell a $500 snake with little reputation (as long as it’s a visual desert ghost). But I’m sure you’re right that there’s a limit. OzzyBoids can sell some of his high end stuff for thousands more than I could.

I can say I've made more money selling on Craigslist and met most of my repeat customers off there. I've also come across the best deals on snakes on craigslist. For instance I bought a 1300 gram pied ball python female for 350.00 now was she the healthiest looking snake nope she was dehydrated and hadn't eaten for the owner for almost a year. I've also gotten a NERD line bumble bee back when they were still kinda pricey for 75.00 it was a beautiful snake and was only purchased as a pet for my daughter. And I bought it because the owner didn't exactly know what they were doing and I definitely did them and the snake a favor. And a few powerhouse males for cheap money either from people getting out of the hobby or somebody suffering from buyers remorse.

    • @dvlexotics2177

I would buy whatever animal looked better, not just buy from BHB/NERD because they're big on social media. As long as the seller is willing to communicate with you and send you more pictures should you ask for them, there is no reason John Doe is any worse than a mega breeder that sells thousands every year. Yeah, obviously if the seller doesn't respond or is unwilling to provide more pictures, etc., go with someone else.
All else equal, I'd say the hobby breeder actually cares more about their animals over the guys producing thousands every year ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
