- In the classroom or in the boardroom, these Chrome extensions will make Google Meet a better tool.
Teachers will appreciate the automated attendance features, the whiteboard and the interactive reaction tools.
Everyone will see the value of virtual monitors and push to talk.
Even with these extensions, Meet will still not have all the functionality of Zoom, but these extensions fill in a lot of the gaps.

I track attendance in Zoom by accessing the reports section. You can download a csv file (configure the columns you want) and see who attended, when they joined and when they left.
Hello how are you doing today 💖
I'm student i will recomend this to my teachers . Thanks for video
As a supply teacher in the U.K. I have been part of a school since this 2021 lockdown and your tips have enabled me to show teachers in the school how to use these extensions and tips. Love your delivery and lots of useful information, I didn't feel the need to skip through your video at all. Thank you! I'm now using the dualless extension.
That is awesome! I'm glad to be reading this wonderful feedback, Laura.
So great to hear Laura! I am glad we could help.
Hi Steve, thank you for this video. Let me tell you, I saw Josh first and was amazing his video, however I thought about you, I was thinking I need to watch what Steve has about these features and Surprise!!! this morning I just receive your notification explaining these features and you recommending the video I just saw. You are amazing!! Thank you again. You are a leader! This is how the community grows. 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing! You made my day!
Still the best in the biz! Keep up the great work!
Your sessions are so full of interesting content. Than you for all you do.
Super! Wieder etwas dazu gelernt ... Danke
Very cool presentation . Thanks
Another extension to look at for Meets is Grid View. I use that extension for the groups that I teach. I really enjoy our videos. I have learned so much.
That's a great idea!
Been using many of these for a long-time and it's made a huge difference. One to add. Grid view. Especially when you have large groups. I've tested and used it with up to 100 people and it work great. Jamboard has been a great collaborative app.
I’ve checked out your channel many times you do a great job teaching this stuff, I should’ve mentioned you in the video as well! Thanks for sharing.
I just used Google Meet Attendance and it worked great! Thanks!
Over the years of watching your content, you never disappoint. Great job!
Wow, thanks! This feedback just made my day!
@@dottotech Been watching from way back in the day. Nice to see you going strong.
Thank you for your youtube lessons. I missed you on TV and was delighted when I came across your youtube channel. I have little use for the "meet" sessions as I use zoom for small family and friends meetings and it does everything I need. I have however found a number of you vids extremely valuable and your google extension vid introduced me to Dualless, which has helped me greatly. You method of instruction is very straight forward and easy to follow. Keep up the good work in keeping non teckies educated.
So kind to express gratitude for the teachers!
Steve your the man I am an instructor who is trying to develop class lessons for B737
as an experiment, I am using your tutorials to familiarize myself with the use of zoom so
I can dispatch part of a course in September Thanks for the information Oh I am from
Ireland
Wow! I never knew about Jamboard before today! Mindblowing! Free and Simple - Amazing for sure!
It really is!
Steve, 💯 I'm glad to hear and see how you show us visually of many possibilities of how these sources can work and benefit all of our learning skills. I'm sending your channel to many of the "Teachers" who benefit even more. You have LIVE videos which is good . Thanks again
Thank you very much for these very helpful information
Glad it was helpful!
Steve, Thank you for this video. I am a real estate trainer and I love your videos. YOU make me look like a superstar - thank you!
I appreciate that!
Thanks for this! I'm an English teacher in Japan. My school hasn't adopted Google Suite for Education, so the full-fledged Google Meet is not available to me. I think some educators who have school districts using Google Suite may have a lot of the group management tools you mentioned.
As one who doesn't have the full power of Google in the classroom, these tips are great. We're actually using Zoom for our live video class meetings for now and many of us are using Google Classroom as the LMS to push out content and assignments.
Google rolled their google meet to private users also, so basically you can you use it - not necessarily you are allowed - it depends on your government & school policy (because of privacy).
But still, zoom takes meet no doubt... Meet is so slim, it's built for meetings (as its name indicates) - not built for teaching and for different levels of permissions..
Wow - a new one - Jamboard!
Dualless is a game changer! I had never heard of it. Thank you! Once again, you’re delivering A+ content.
I really like this Jamboard! I may have to use Google Meet more often
You can use Jamboard stand alone.
dottotech thanks!! Good to know
Thank you very much. It was really helpful.
Mr Dotto, again you come through with very excellent advice, you are the man !! cheers !
Thank you kindly
As a Google Drive file, the Jamboard can be attached to a Google Meet's event in Calendar to easily share it with all the meeting's participants.
Hello, sir! I subscribed after catching you on Live Streaming Pros! I’ve been looking for some extensions to use for my online tutoring service and all the info you provided in this video will be so useful! Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks for the sub!
Pear deck for Google slides is a worth while tool for teachers.
I like your genuine comments great to follow your videos will subscribe thanks
Another super session!
Hi Steve, I love your videos! You mentioned that you can't take attendance in Zoom. Actually you can if you have certain types of Zoom accounts and go in through the web (zoom.us) and not the app. Log into your account at zoom.us then go to Reports. Do a date search for the Zoom meeting. Then click on the number of participants which will open a window showing each participant and how long they stayed in the meeting. It's perfect for documenting attendance for required PD, etc.
I think I forgot to leave a comment on the Google Meet video, but I'm watching this one now. Zoom looks more functional, although it's not browser based.
Great, very useful. Thx
Hey, actually zoom had follow attendees attention but because of complaints they removed it as part of all the security updates 😡... I loved this feature....
Thanks great vid as always 👍
Thanks for sharing
Well done Dotty.
Merci Steve... Always interesting videos. Thanks
Hey , review lark suite.. it's a free tools like slack
Thank you, Steve
I might be trying this out soon.
Have fun
Lovely show
Thanks again Mr Dotto !
Nice to reconnect with you Steve. I recalled the name, did a search on my Google Machine, and came across Dotto's Data Cafe. Which took me down memory lane - Real Audio, DOS batch files, Telix and ProComm, 300 baud connection to Sheridan College to get the latest news/chats on whatever topics. I used to be a nerd. I still am, but I used to be one too (apologies to Mitch Hedberg.)
Glad to see see you are still at it and teaching a new generation. Have fun storming the castle!
It’s always great to reconnect with the old crowd! Thanks for reaching out.
Beautiful channel
Thanks this was great - and gives me new items to check out
Nice...
Great! Thanks your!
So long, Zoom 👋
Time to move with the times. They are educators now, not teachers.
Steve, you've got a great vocal for voice-over work. Moreover, you're use of vocabulary is engaging. When you said bring "traffic" to a search result it was perfectly put.
Thank you , useful and informative
and, too bad for Meet, it just
confirms WHY I'm still preferring Zoom.
out of 5 add ons only 1 is missing in Zoom
and not even THAT one is native to Meet!!!
I might be crazy, but if Google doesn't get
it's act together soon (or Zoon) Zoom is going
to pretty quickly get into other areas that
have been Google's monopolistic turf.
Maybe a good thing.
Looking forward to "ZMail"
You made me laugh! ZMail.
There is still opne big advantage Google has, is how they integrate Meet in the rest of the Google Ecosystem making it easy to jump on a call anytime.
From launching from the Gmail Sidebar, to integration with Google Calendar, that is the big advantage.
Convinience....we are lazy....
But the moment ZMail is released, I will do a demo!
@@dottotech Really look forward to that
demo.
But, i believe, that Zoom is the initiator of bigger and unexpected, and much needed, changes.
Nice one
I truly enjoy your videos, I'm subscribing right now. I have like a million questions, is there any way i could reach you?
I am trying Google Meet at home in place of Zoom free. Thanks
Jamboard? Using a mouse to make characters on a screen is very limited. You need some tablets connected to meet with a stylus. Something like the old overhead projector tops.
Hi Steve! Just subbed to Ecamm Live last week. Great tool! I was watching your interview with Luria the other day. My question is, have you tried any of the screen sharing workarounds for bringing in more than one guest via Skype? Essentially the ECamm founders Ken and Glenn were saying that you can share your Zoom screen and do it that way, and still get their Zoom audio. What are your thoughts on multiple ECamm guest functions in the future, and thank you for all the great work!
Hi Steve. It appears there is a way with Skype. The things you learn! support.ecamm.com/en/articles/3903951-how-to-add-multiple-skype-guests-to-your-live-video
Oh, that sounds interesting I haven’t tried it out I’ll check with the boys and see if I can make it work
Not sure why you'd need Dualless - if you want to display 2 tabs side by side why not just drag one tab out to a new window, and resize and reposition those windows to your requirements? And in Windows if you drag a window right to the one side of the screen it will automatically make it 50% and allow you to choose another window to fill the other 50%.
AND if you do this, note that the edge between the two windows are now linked to both windows, so you can drag it to see both in *any % of screen configuration.*
You can also use the WIN-button to do this. Press the WIN-button, and an arrow-button (left or right), which makes the window 50%. Then it automatically pops up a choice of all other windows that are open, so you you can choose the other 50%-window (with mouse, but you can "walk" between them with arrow-buttons too, hit space or return to make it so).
*ALSO 2+1-config:* if you have just made the 50/50, if you WIN + UP arrow, you can make the second window a quarter, and again get the choice what to put as the second 25%.
@@johanponken question: is this feature only in MS-Win? Or is it also available in other systems? At least in the browser it is OS-agnostic.
It's also built into Chrome OS, which is great because it's a common operating system for students.
Is using the split screen gives you the exact thing as multiple screens, also is Dualless gives you the real thing? Is it really the same deeling as dual screens?
@@johnangelico667 Hint: it uses the _Windows_ button. :) The browser only handles browser tabs - the drag/button thing handles any program windows. All OS: duckduckgo.com/?q=tiling+window+manager (Win: howtogeek.com/661249)
Hi Steve! Congratulations for your videos! I'm a teacher from Buenos Aires and I've just discovered your channel today. I find it very useful indeed. I have a question: which would be the difference between using Dualles and just working with two conventional windows (one of them with your internet browser having a meeting, for example, on the left half of the screen and other one with any other application on the right half of the screen)? Thanks!!!
that would work as well. just takes more time.
Try Web Paint vs Jamboard
Couple of problems with Meet. Hard to add "external invitees", they have to ask to join the meeting even if they have been invited on the calendar invite, and if it is very hard or impossible to add them if they don't have a gmail account.
how to use annotation like zoom have to write on pdf during presentation in google meet
Love this!
Hi there. How the heck you doing this fine day? Love your CZcams show (a pleasant recent discovery through Zoom use). From Victoria myself. Used to faithfully watch your TV program.
Question: you're in a Google Meets meeting. You split the screen with Duelless. You're using Jamboard as you did in the video. If the other person is also splitting the screen with Duelless, they'll see Google Meets in one window, but how would they see Jamboard in the other window? Without Duelless, you shared a tab in your video. But with Duelless, are you using Meets in one window and sharing a tab in the other window? I didn't think Meets worked that way. Or does Jamboard or Chrome have their own sharing way? If so, is there a way to collaborate on Jamboard? Thank you for your time.
Hi, Steve. Thanks for sharing knowledge. I am a physics teacher from India . Deriving formulas and working out problems are a huge challange in Jamboard. Any suggestion whereby i can scribble onto something with pen which will be reflected on screen? Please do tell.
I use an iPad Pro. it works well
Did you use Loom to make this presentation?
Is there a way to float your camera and move it around the screen on google meet?
I’m not sure exactly what you mean, but if you were to use a virtual camera and a switching up of some sort you may be able to relocate the image in size on screen, but it would be complicated
16:25 You say Google Meet does not allow people to enter a meeting in a muted state, but I do it all the time? You just turn your microphone off before entering the meeting. There’s a button for it right there in Google Meet. Am I missing something? Thank you for this great video!
you do it. but the. host can not set it up as a default for everyone
One thing I miss is to type on Jamboard. When you teach online, you don't need to use handwriting.
More about loom?
Here are some extension to add Google Meet Plus, Grid View, Mute Tab, ColorZilla, Bitmoji.
I love you
How do I change me phone number on Google
Hi Steve, regarding the taking of an attendance list as a feature which is absent from Zoom, it *can* be done by means of a report function (exportable as a CSV) within Zoom. It works as long as your participants do enter their name when joining the meeting, but any teacher could specify this as a necessary classroom practice for effective management of the class anyway. This video demonstrates the relevant function - czcams.com/video/zWf_kEVfUE4/video.html
Google meet will actually mute you if you log into a meeting and there a bunch of people are there.... fyi
am I the only one that hears "google meat"? :)
I’ve been snickering at that for several weeks,
Hi, Are u an Indian?
