Best Tokyo Marui HI-CAPA FPS Upgrades Ranked - Statistical Comparison of Common Upgrades (PART 1)

- Part 1 of evidence-based Hi-Capa upgrades. For this review, I tested eight tiers of power upgrades on a new Tokyo Marui (TM) 5.1 Gold Match HI-CAPA Airsoft pistol. Japanese guns often have limited muzzle velocity, and power upgrades can significantly enhance shooting performance. However, direct comparisons quantifying the effects of different upgrade setups are scarce. This is a non-sponsored, statistics-based test of common parts to boost the muzzle velocity of the TM Hi-Capa.

Many factors, including random variation, can lead to slight inconsistencies between shots. To distinguish a likely true change between setups, I propose a MINIMALLY DETECTABLE CHANGE, defined as a 5 m/s (16 FPS) mean improvement from the reference setup. Smaller changes are usually explained by random variations. However, even if real, slight changes may not be noticeable during gameplay. Therefore, a GAMEPLAYWISE MEANINGFUL CHANGE is defined as at least a 10 m/s (33 FPS) difference, likely to have an observable effect during gameplay.
Upgrade setups meeting the criteria for a gameplaywise meaningful change include:
1) Just a long inner barrel: here 166 mm 6.03 Armorer Works (AW) leftover stock barrel.
2) The same 166mm AW barrel with a Teflon tape seal further improved FPS.
3) Fully upgraded upper frame internals: da Vinci Raizen 112.5mm/6.01mm precision barrel, Maple Leaf Hop-Up Chamber and Bucking, CowCow Pink Mood Nozzle & B02 Blowback Housing sets, with CowCow Nozzle return spring, Recoil spring, and Short-Stroke Buffers.
4) The highest power was recorded with the previous fully upgraded parts in an Airsoft Masterpiece slide, with a 166mm/6.01mm AW precision barrel, and a Teflon tape seal.
Surprisingly, a significant boost can be obtained inexpensively by just using a long inner barrel! Using a leftover stock 166/6.03mm barrel from my other Armorer Works Hi-Capa resulted in a 14 m/s (16%) increase from baseline. Teflon tape seal further improved this by 5.5 m/s, statistically significant under the independent samples T-test. Sure, replacing slide internals with fancy upgrade parts also works well, but this can be done more cheaply with just a long barrel and Teflon tape seal.
SUMMARY, how to boost the FPS:
- Stronger gas
Pros: simple.
Cons: the gun wears faster and parts break.
- Longer barrel
Pros: the most cost-effective solution.
Cons: the need to hide the tip of the longer inner barrel.
- Fully upgraded slide internals
Pros: in addition to being power upgrades, the parts are also of reinforced durability.
Cons: more expensive.
- Others, not covered in the video, such as magazine-related: upgraded gas router, valve, etc.

Lyhyesti suomeksi: Kun päivität Maruin Hi-Capa pistoolisi, tarkoituksena saada lisää tehoja, on kustannustehokkain vaihtoehto hankkia pitempi sisäpiippu. Sisäpiipun sisähalkaisijalla voi olla vaikutusta lähtönopeuteen, mutta tärkeintä on itse piipun pituus - pitempi on parempi. Ongelmana on toki, kuinka piilotat pitemmän sisäpiipun kärjen. Lisätehoa saa toki myös kalliimmalla hankkimalla kokonaisuudessaan päivitetyt sisäosat: Hop-Up kammio, kumi, tavanomaisen pituuden omaava tarkkuuspiippu, suutinsetti ja BlowBack housing.

Amazing video. How/where can I find the long barrel? Any fitting issues?
Thankyou! Most GBB precision barrels fit, like this one www.airsoft-legends.nl/en/maple-leaf-604-crazy-jet-inner-barrel-for-gbb-200m.html
Zero fitting issues. You just have to figure out how to hide the long tip.
Do you have links to the parts for the fully upgraded internals?
Hi! Here the names of my current parts (gameplay here czcams.com/video/yzYxxWmfc1E/video.htmlsi=-bmg278JrkJWIXTO ). Had to bring FPS down so from 200mm to 150mm Maple Leaf barrel. TTI infinity is my choise for chamber. In Edge slide, the combination of Edge BBU and Nozzle works the smoothest.
Bro you’re a beast, but what’s the weight of the bbs? 0.2g or 0.25g?
0.2g in all my tests, as it is usually reported for pistols.
