@@Squirrels_at_the_window You are very welcome. You make my day more enjoyable with your videos
Hermoso vídeo! Totalmente en suspenso y atenta al marcador de votación frutos....! 🐿️🐿️👍👍♥️😍🇦🇷🌟🌟
It's funny how they have this look on their face, like... "OK, this has to be a trick... Who would just leave these delicious nuts sitting here unattended?"
Contemplating if they are stealing, if it's just free stuff.
indeed they are very cautious and worried of being trapped, but of course who wouldn't find this odd.
If I suddenly found a steaming roast chicken sitting on a table on the sidewalk with a sign that said: "free just take it" regardless of how hungry I was I would think someone was trying to trick me too.
Love your site, no distracting sounds, can even hear animals all around, and, most importantly NO music, thanks
I'm very glad, thank you 😊❤️
I agree with this.
Yes 💯
For the neglected hazelnut lol. Thanks for what you do. Your videos are charming, innocent, and beautiful. In a crazy world, your channel is a welcome respite.
Thank you very much for your kind words and generous gift 😊❤️
I really enjoyed this, you did more than proved the squirrel choice of nuts you confirmed what's been weighing on my heart WE MUST SAVE OUR SQUIRREL FRIENDS... worrying about our homes we forced them out their homes and no walnuts trees are found anywhere so why not look out fir them... I will get some nuts for the ones on my block... we everyone tell a friend to do the same.
I felt such a sense of victory when Squirrel without a Name finally got the walnut!
me too. made me giggle too. so cute.
You should name it Walnut!
Expensive stuff 😊 i used to give the squirrel that came to my patio through my first floor apartment windows peanuts 🥜 with the shells , they were 7 of them but they haven’t come back for 2 years now. 😢
I like how they politely wait in line at the bottom by the busb.
Funny to see that little squirrel trying to fit that big walnut in his tiny mouth. Thanks for sharing! 🐿❤
Yeah, surprised the walnut won! :)
Thanks!
Thank you very much for your kind gift 😊❤️
My pleasure!
We have a mango tree in our yard. When the mangoes get ripe they fall to the ground ready to eat. I was in the house and saw a few fall so I looked around for a bag and went outside to pick them up and they were gone. I glanced down our yard and there goes two squirrels running down the fence with a whole yellow mango in their mouths, I wish I had my camera the mangoes were almost bigger than the little squirrels! I thought I would share how smart and comical they can be! 😂👍🏼
It's true: we even "have" a squirrel we call 'Walnut' simply because of her obvious preference for them (in or out of the shell).
I think the size is the most important: almond is small, they can grab it easily, the walnut is big, it means much food.
Sometimes you feel like a nut. Sometimes you don't.
@@ToddsterSaw🎵mounds don’t 🎵
Squirrel without a name is definitely Hensley!
Almonds take the early lead, but walnuts make a comeback, on the strength of power play goals late in the third period.
😄
I have ran the same experiment and the walnut was the winner
Sometimes you can see the other squirrels in the background as if they were in a waiting line 😂
Thank you very much for this video!
I think they gravitate toward the almonds because they are easy to grasp and runwith at first,as they got more secure about the set up they attempted the larger prizes
" Squirrel without a name" looks a lot like Clint Eastwood
Just when I thought the walnut was not going to be picked. 😀
Squirrels on our deck LOVE hickory nuts! We have black walnut trees and hickory trees. I gather some of both and toss some out on the deck during snowy winter days. They'll take the hickory nuts right out of my hand!
Can't tell how much the shape of the nut and how easy it is to grab matters.
I guesses walnut. I have watched a lot of squirrel videos and walnuts get chosen most. 😊
I can not believe I’m watching this. Still I feel a newfound look at the squirrels in my back yard. They are cute.
The walnut took the lead! ;) :)
At the beginning I was going to say that the walnuts were too big for their mouths, but at the end, walnuts for the win! 😁
Some of them seem more cautious than others. Lol
Thanks for feeding the squirrels 🐿 ❤😇
I am always amazed at how you can tell which squirrel is which. I've been watching many of your videos but can't tell which is which. ☺
They are so chubby your angels 😀
You take good care of them I’m so happy god bless you 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love watching your videos huge fan today it was very interesting what you did let me tell you they know what they want but it’s good you gve them all different ones and it’s good for them your so lucky you hve theses angels they gve you a smile. To me they do all the times especially when they are fighting not to share the food I laugh so much thank you for sharing 🙏🥰
I'm very glad you enjoyed it, thank you 😊❤️
Their thoughtful facial expression before choosing a nut made me smile.
In Norway there's this little nursery song about a young squirrel, called "Nutbit Little".
He's always late for school.
Very cheeky, teasing miss Magpie.
Half forgetting to have breakfast...
Then munching two pine nuts.
Before hopping and racing through the forest.
Just making it to class on time.
(It might be inspired by Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and friends).
Nameless squirrel could be an other Nutbit Little, I guess... 😉
❤ from Oslo 🇳🇴
i'm the only one who talk at my screen and say ,its ok sweety take all ,be smart ect lol
Mark Rober had the same results, the walnuts were gone first, so he made the grand prize for his squirrel parcours a big bag of walnuts. (I think they're so popular because they're brain food! )
🙏🏻 Thank you for sharing nuts with the squirrels, and this with us.
I love Rober's Squirrelympics!
it definitely seemed like walnuts were the favorite of those brave enough to go for it, while the pecan was the favorite for those wanting to get the smallest nut in their mouth as quickly as possible so they could scram.
Just want to say how much I love your channel. I love the squirrels but when the birds are chirping it's extra special. I watch every night before bed. It's very relaxing.
I'm very glad, thank you 😊❤️
"Squirrel with no name" curls up his little paws into fists before he takes one. So cute
Can hardly believe nobody wanted a hazelnut ! 😯🐿
Poor Jane wanted that pecan! Awww, just too big for her mouth. 😊
she gets it near the end 😊
These bushy tailed friends seem to like the nuts the way I enjoy my chocolate....with almonds! Tasty choices all around!
Thank you very much for your kind gift 😊❤️
A few years ago, the mother of a child we were caring for took him back "home" to New York. He left behind his hamster, Bendy. One night, in deep sadness, I emancipated Bendy, and bid her farewell, and safe travels. A night or two later she woke me by running on a large hamster wheel that I'd placed on a bookshelf, it was far too large for her cage.
She came out every night, to a fresh salad I'd prepare for her, and run on that wheel till 5am, when I'd get ready for work. She built a little apartment in a closet dedicated to shoes and clothes that are no longer worn, and this lasted about a year and a half, until she finally failed to come out, I never saw her again.
I never knew what great companions rodents can be. I am glad that I stumbled upon this channel, and I'm thankful for the kindness you show these little critters.
Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words 😊❤️
@@Squirrels_at_the_window Thanks for the cool posts documenting your interaction with these guys and gals.
Cute. The Western gray squirrels I feed like Walnuts the best. They only eat the hazelnuts once all the other kinds are gone.
I love how they rotate it to get the best grip with their teeth.
AWESOME!!!!! I have to agree with the squirrels, i don't like hazelnuts either!!!!!! LOL how amazing what you do for the squirrels.
I feed squirrels in my back yard, in a spot, just outside my back door. They don't even wait for me to put the peanuts down, so often, I just hold out the container and let them dive in headfirst for one or two and then they take off with their stash. One day, I stepped out, and one was sitting there, eating his peanut, watching me. I held up a walnut for him to see. lmao! It was so funny, he just STARED at that walnut as the peanut slipped, still half eaten, from his little paws. I gave it to him, right away. :)
😮 No hazelnut ! Very good video and now I know their favorite 😊
I know, that's one of my fav. nut flavors. :)
Each time a squirrel came to the window sill there were four nuts to choose from. The squirrels were living through Bill Murray‘s role in the film Groundhog Day.
Loved how he/she looked the nuts up and down. Most likely thinking decisions decisions
Funny to see only one use the "please" paw to the chest, when we feed our yard squirrels they always do but Trickster always puts both paws to his chest. bless.
😂😅 squirrel without a name ,should call her clint Eastwood 😊👍🐿
Good experiment. As for my crew, size matters. When there is a mixed nut pile, they will always grab the walnut first, then pecan, almond, and last, hazelnut. Brazil nuts if nothing else. Still always want peanuts. I think that is their comfort food. 😊
Wonder if they simply think "larger nut, more food, better secure that one first", or if there is more to it.
@@a_921 That's my guess
That is exactly how my squirrels react too - walnuts, pecans, almonds and hazelnuts are tied, peanuts are like a comfort food - great way of putting it! And yeah, eventhough they could be sizable, Brazil nuts are dead last. My favorite squirrel, Clifford, will stop eating any nut for a walnut - she always throws that nut on the ground, grabs the walnut and seems to scream “Huzzah!”
The unnamed one sounds like a squeaky toy, so maybe squeaky?
I’m really surprised that the poor hazelnut was unwanted. The squirrels here go crazy for them. Your experiment was pretty cool and I feed the squirrels the same nuts….all 4 varieties, with some occasional peanuts. 😊❤️🐿
Are peanuts better or worse for them than the other nuts, like acorns?
@@kdl8439
Peanuts are basically the junk food of nuts, so I don’t give them to the squirrels too often….just occasionally. The other nuts are the ones that are the most nutritious for them. 😊🐿
we have squirrels in a big tree just outside our living room window. Now I know a little more about what nuts they like. I usually leave nuts that are already shelled though.
Such an awesome video,I did this exact test about two years ago,and every single squirrel chose the walnut.Even though they can barely grab em,I knew the walnut was gonna win as soon as I saw this test
Thank you very much for your kind words 😊❤️ And thank you for sharing the results of your test. 😊
Neat, & interesting! :)
Same choices I would have made.
Survey says. Like a game show. The box door curtain.😅
I do look forward to my visit with the squirrels ❤.
Jane ❤s the pecans. 😊 nobody for the hazelnut hmmm interesting 🤔
Ich beobachte die Eichhörnchen 🐿️ so gerne! In meinem Garten fütter ich Walnüsse und Haselnüsse! Die anderen Nussarten habe ich noch nicht ausprobiert, werde ich nachholen!!!!
I hurts my heart how skittish they all are. I know it's in their nature, but this shows how they go through life in constant fear that something is going to hurt them.
My yard has about 10 black walnut trees and the squirrel’s love them
Quantity has a quality all its own.
Thank You fantastic, i. See all the Love you have for them, how about "" Jitter "" for the one with no name. 👍😉
very satisfying to watch;-) thanks for caring about our squirrel friends. I walk by a nest of babies every morning and usually they come out to say hello.
I'm very glad you enjoyed it and thank you for your kind words 😊❤️
I think the one squirrel was asking for a paper bag to put all four nuts in! 😂😎
😄
Missing lily, haven’t see her for a while!
And for the nuts, once they got their way to carry it, they definitely know what they want!
Thank you 🙏❤️
Lilly doesn't come very often to my window these days, but she looks very good and healthy. 😊
@@Squirrels_at_the_window Glad to know she's still around. :)
Jane is a real Beauty 😍😍 and Mickey has great technique lol🥰🥰
How sweet. My grandmother, for years, had a squirrel that would come to the door and get a pecan from her hand. A cat got ahold of him and he had lost an eye but was otherwise ok.
All your videos are enjoyable, but this one was especially fun to watch.
I'm very glad 😊❤️
Why is it I suddenly feel bad for hazelnuts? 🐿🌰
You know I sat at window with a squirrel with no name, it felt good that there was no rain. 😂
😄
At the window, I can remember my name, cuz I see it on the mailbox right through the glass pane..
@@Timfishoh2759 😂
LMBO! That was cute! :)
@@Timfishoh2759 That was good! :) You're a poet, & didn't know it?! ;) :)
Smart walnuts are the best. Omega-3 nut reduces. Inflammation mega 6 nuts increase inflammation.
Just like one of your other commenters suggested, it would be interesting to see the same experiment with shelled nuts.
At the start, your test group were keen on the almonds & the pecans, the two that are probably the most ergonomic to fit in their mouths quickly, thus they can grab & go more easily.
Later, once they’d determined the selection game wasn’t part of some trick by the Window Human, they became bold enough to take the time to get to grips with the walnut, whose shells have that lumpy/bumpy texture they can grip onto with their teeth more easily, but that they need time to manipulate to find the right spot & be comfortable.
In it’s shell, the hazelnut is a much more regular, relatively smooth surfaced sphere & probably a little big for them to comfortably get in their mouths quickly. It’s also the smallest nut inside, so maybe they see it as least return on their investment of time & effort to get in.
As ever though, your visitors are a joy to watch & their individual, unique & adorable personalities shine through. I wonder where the new, wannabe alpha from your last video was during your experiment though? But at least Jane was able to play without being harassed this time!
I was wondering if maybe the shells have something to do with it too...the almond shape is easiest to grab, and the walnut shell, although it's big, has wrinkles where they can get a tooth-hold on it. The pecan and hazelnut shells are smooth so they're more challenging---which means squirrels must really like pecans because they manage to grab them anyway :)
I was on the edge of my seat. Fun experiment!
I'm very glad you enjoyed it 😊❤️
The dive into the shrubbery gets me every time 😂. So cute!
The Squirrel is so cute😍
Squirrel without a name is so funny. I just love watching these little characters
This reminds me of an old Looney Toons cartoon "Much Ado About Nutting" (1952) where a squirrel in Central Park finds a corner stand with peanuts, then notices there are also Walnuts, then Brazil nuts, then an even a larger type of nut. Of course he goes for the biggest, but spends the rest of the cartoon trying to figure out how to crack it open.
I think the largest nut from that cartoon is a coconut.
@@Squirrels_at_the_window Yep. Didn't wanna be a spoiler, hence I left that ambiguous.
What a fun video! Hazelnuts always taste rancid and musty to me, maybe these squirrels feel the same way 😄.
That's how eating at the Y tastes too.😢
3:30 "for me?"
Yes, for you!
I vote "Basil" for squirrel without a name.
I love Basil Fawlty.
Poor hazelnuts, getting no love
I enjoyed this! My squirrels around here seem to love almonds, pistachios, & hazelnuts😄🥰
Our native squirrels are red and love walnuts the most. I always order the nuts in 10 kg boxes, then they are cheaper. 😉
I love it. It's cute and still an interesting experiment.
That's a fun experiement, it's like a Squirells dream :) I love squirrels, they are so cute. But those I see in the forest here in Sweden are brown and much smaller than these. I understand them, Almonds is my favorite too out of these, and then walnut.
Awesome experiment! 👏👍
I bet on walnut, but was not really sure as it's pretty big with its shell, and less manageable than the other three nuts. But its shell is easier to break than the other ones, and I *think* that the nut/shell ratio is probably the highest one (?) Also, walnuts have the best fatty acid profile amongst all nuts (including all the other kind of nuts, Brazil nuts, Macadamia, etc.)
Really, really interesting! Thank you! 👍😊
It would also be very interesting to see the exact same experiment, but with shelled nuts - in order to see if the size of the whole nut does influence the squirrels' choice, and if they chose otherwise in that different situation.
Funny to note that the hazelnut was never chosen 😅(as it's often presented as the squirrels' choice nut)
👍variety, definitely! 😋😁
Thank you very much for your kind and insightful comment 😊❤️
Yes and when you think of the hazelnuts, they are more manageable by size but have really difficult shells to crack.
@@Squirrels_at_the_window You're welcome, your videos are always a pleasure to watch.
And soon: 20k+ subscribers 😁😎👏👏
@@darlenefraser3022 Indeed! I am wondering if the squirrels' choice is influenced by the season, too... Hazelnuts *may* be easier to store, due to their size/shape, so maybe the same experiment in, say, one or two months would yield different results?🤔
Just what I wanted to see at the end of a stressful day. Thank you and hello from Thailand ❤
Hello, I'm very glad you enjoyed it 😊❤️
🤣 Poor Jane's epic fail, bless her!
Surprised the hazelnut didn't get a look in, perhaps too smooth to get a decent handle on it 🤔 Great competition, thank you for sharing this 👍️
that was my thought about the hazelnuts and pecans - harder to get a good grip on them
I feed a squirrel out my window but I have to throw the nuts. He/she loves it and comes around often. I give him a variety of nuts.
Thank you for feeding squirrels that means you care for wildlife!
The squirrel with no name made me laugh. Made sure that walnut was not going to win and roll away. Thanks for sharing video.
❤❤❤❤🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿hola ardillitas

Agree! :)
Hi Squirrel Without A Name, nice to meet you
I guessed it right, walnuts!
Thanks for your CUTE experiment 😊
I think Almond is the most favorite one of squirrel, considering the almond is at the most risky location among the others
They are so sweet,we had red squirrels live front of our house but feral cats scared them away unfortunetly ;( keep up the good work :)
They are soo cute! Haha😅
