  • Where is Brian Laundrie?
That’s been the question for over a week now as law enforcement officials continue to comb through the Carlton Reserve looking for the man named as the only "person of interest" in the death of his fiancé, 22-year-old Gabby Petito.
10 Tampa Bay spoke with retired Army Special Forces Captain and trained survivalist Mykel Hawke about what conditions are like in the area where police suspect Laundrie is located.
Hawke says, if Laundrie is in the reserve, he’s in a “brutal” and “unforgiving” environment.

They may not be looking for him - he could have disposed of evidence in there. Right now he's still not a murder suspect. If they find something in the swamp, maybe that could change even if what they find isn't him.

He knew before anybody else that he would have to be on the run forever, so why would would someone who knows the hardship of living in the wild run into a place that would kill him one way or another? Unless, he intended to not survive.

I don't believe this boy from NY City is a survival expert. He brags about living on the Appalachian Trail for 3 months. He's only been out of high school for 60 months. How, where and when did he acquire these skills?

I think you may underestimate how quickly someone can gain many different skills in a very short period of time using the internet. You have countless amount of training at your fingertips. That being said, I highly doubt this dude is out there anyway. He had way more time to make much more calculated moves with law enforcement losing track of him to begin with.

He is in there, there are trail cams in and around the entrances of these reserves. They have him going in..... thing is if he was dead the sky would fill up fast with vultures. I live 5 minutes from this search entrance, it's right on the other side of 75. The sky would tell them right away where to go if he was decomposing. He's not dead yet.....and a $2 survival blanket can deflect thermal imaging.

You lost me in the first 30 seconds. Have you completely discounted Gabby and Brian's friends saying how he lived in the WILDERNESS of the Appalacians for TWO MONTHS on his own right before he and Gabby got together? Brian knows what he's doing. He's not just some day-hiker that pitches tents in ready-made campsites. He's a survivalist. But he's NOT at the Carlton Reserve. I believe his parents loaded up that new camper, and took Brian out for that "weekend camping trip", showed him how to get to some OTHER wildlife park that he could hike to from Carlton Reserve and then brought him home so he could be seen leaving in HIS car on Tuesday. They may have even put maps of Carlton on Brian's computer and whatnot to throw police off. But I think Brian hiked into the Carlton Reserve, then right out another side and off to somewhere else where he's now holed up with a crapton of non-perishable food (remember, he's also VEGAN), a dozen or so Life Straws, and clothes. He's NOT in Carlton... but he IS someplace "off the grid".

Ok, all of you sideline QBs, you are clearly ppl who have never been in or near a FL swamp. Before BL was found, you weren't even willing to take the word of an expert with years of experience. I grew up in this area and lived here almost my whole life. Nobody in their right mind would go in there alone without any provisions unless they were going to commit suicide. There is so much danger in a swamp during even the day but at night, the real predators come out. He had to be underwater (which we know he was) because the turkey buzzards would have been circling and then law enforcement would have found him right away. As it is, it looks like the gators got to him in the water. The point is: predators everywhere. #swamplife
