    My heritage is in Everts, Black mountain, Harlan.
    Being raised in the suburbs of Detroit and going back for a visit was like going back in time. The boys resented my big city arrogance while the girls found me interesting.

    There was a lot going on there. The pedestrian bridge was nice when a long train was pulling out of the mine, I bet.

    • @mountainjustice
      @mountainjustice Před 2 lety

      My understanding is that it was so kids could get to and from the school on the hill above the church, when a train was blocking the way. That bridge is very solid and sturdy

      Thanks Mitch! I'm sure the Brown family can use all the prayers they can get, the young man was almost 3 miles underground when he was killed and at 33 years old he was already a 13-year veteran of the mines

    You gotta have a lot of respect for the people that go in the mines... I have been to the entrance of a coal mine..I don't know if I could go in day after day. That takes a better person than me.

    • @IgnitedCoyote
      @IgnitedCoyote  Před 2 lety

      Long ago my brother-in-law at the time was operating a small minds that was only working two shifts after the last shift would leave he would go into the mines and make sure everything was shut down that was supposed to be shut down, he offered me to go with him one time but truthfully I was a little scared so I didn't, I've always regretted not doing that.

      We would love to get some close-up video of a coal mines but mining operators can be a little cautious about letting people take pictures too close to the mines for whatever reason.

    Hi Ignited & Mrs Coyote. Good video. It’s good to know some coal is still coming out of the Eastern Kentucky hills. The coal must be flowing east cause I know CSX shut down their Eastern Kentucky or EK subdivision.
    I agree with Mrs Coyote. I don’t think I would go on that old bridge either. I’m not scared of heights but it looks old and not the best shape to walk on.
    Y’all have a great day! Peace my friends

    It's difficult for me to watch this thinking about the hard times. Throughout history those involved in the coal industry have been impoverished. Sad to see it continues.
