The one reality show that wasn't trashy. It had such a cool vibe 2 it. I still watch it on Amazon Prime.
big up the wash heights show, this show is motivational and puts focus on the posetives on growing up in a tuff neighborhood. Its creative and people should be inspired from it
This show would’ve been a hit today because of how socially accepting it is today to “break the mold” of any preconceived notion of Latin culture

Had to stop this because the hot97 hosts where acting so ignorant and obnoxious. I don't know how Jp was being so mature the time that I actually watched. It's nice to see positive things happening, in his mind and the way he responds with patience to people who aren't as open to love and good energy. It's hard for me to not appreciate a show that portrays that. I'd rather watch something that focuses on how good we can be to each other, than how much more "ratchet" and offensive we can become.
I wish black people would make shows that showed the non rachet side of our culture..

Instead of hating support the show. They are doing a great job. I'll be the first to admit that poetry never caught my attention, but after watching the show, Frankie is making me like it. Once again support don't hate!!

Yeah, she's black. I think a lot of people need to start saying what country they're from instead of saying they're black,white or dominican because being dominican is your nationality nor your race. She should have stated that she was mixed American & Dominican, then mention the race of her parents. It's all about culture because I'm black just like they are black, but our cultures are different in a lot of areas. I'm an American whose race is black.
Everyone is stuck in the social norms of the past. Whenever someone searches for a higher quality of life, there is always someone there to knock them down. Stop being ignorant and think washington heights is the dominican jersey shore. This wasn't even an interview. This was a shit on washington heights segment
I'm glad you know the truth, but the first time I ever heard someone who looks like me, and say they weren't black, was a dominican, & it threw me off.It's like they were trying their hardest to not associate with being black, and I don't mean just black American, but black as a race.Overtime things changed, but that threw me off. I heard others say the same thing, then when I learned about the history of the country I understood why they thought like that.I still have love for a lot of them.

I agree, and I see more than a few people totally misinterpreted your comment. In comparison to reality shows about Black Americans, these young Latinos are showing a slice of reality that is refreshing, real, yet tastefully done. No one is being ridiculously crude, obnoxious, or pretending to be something they're not. In contrast, I don't think there is any reality show where Black Americans aren't being either the "bourgeoise" materialist OR the ghetto rachet buffoon.
I don't see why people who live in the exact same place are arguing about race and culture. The past is the past, this is a new time and era, everyone has a different lane to get things done, you just have to go through it when it presents itself.
NewYorkCity latinos dont like change. anything new means they have to relearn and they not about that. Love being cuban/dominican from the heights but the old heads need to except what we like and stop forcing their stuff on us. Enjoy what you have and dont cling on to the last bit of what ever you think keeps you like us. Your our adults, we didnt grow up with what you had. We can understand what you like and except whats told to us but generations evolve

YAASS! this show is wayy different from all the other wack shows on mtv they make music go for there goals help each other out there all friends there not bad influences with more shows like this it will change the mind of everyone after watching it
because they all don't think like that. Another thing I don't get is why do a lot of foreigners think they are "better" then Americans, and say they have better value then us. I grew up with all types of people, and the latins were no different from the blacks who were from nyc. The ones who just came here were just like southern blacks to me, which makes sense being that they both come from small areas, while NYC is a whole other animal so lifestyle will be different, but why the attitudes?.

You completely misread the original comment. He wasn't saying the cast was black--he was pointing out that he wished Black Americans could make a good show like this one. By the way, there's no reason to get so outraged and emotional calling people "bitch" when you hear the word "black" in the same sentence as Dominican--it's not a different species. We're all human beings.

not to get into race but dominicans know they are black but they dont relate to an black american .. the culture is way different. me being latino i dont say im white or black or even yellow lol im proud to be raised latino with a great culture & family values ... kids in the heights are similar, but some american born latinos are 100% raised on the NY lifestyle
