- In todays video we line up my 2017 Challenger SRT 392 up against a 2020 Challenger Scatpack 392 with the 6 speed manual to see how the 8 speed ZF8 transmission does against the 6 speed TR6060! The races surprised me as the manual Challenger was quicker than I had expected! Thank you for watching! All runs filmed in safe location in Mexico! Enjoy!

The guy in the auto was also the one saying 1,2,3 every time as well which makes a huge difference. Have you and a buddy hold your fist out I front of each other facing each other and say only one of you count to 3, when you get to 3 raise your pointer fingers, record it and play it back in slow motion. The guy counting gonna win every time on the reaction times cus he knows when he’s saying 3 and instantly is going to raise the finger as saying it, so that also plays a huge factor here. They should beep, one then the other then the same time then go, that way bother drivers can have a sense of when “go” is gonna happen, kinda like a drag race tree

Manual takes actual skill to be fast, especially when going against today's automatics. It's very possible to beat an automatic, I've seen Vipers beat plenty of exotics. I hope to get a 6 speed manual Scat Pack some day!!
Vipers got 2 more cyliders and are lighter with more power with a hell of a lot less drag. In this case yes you can beat other autos but if you had a manual viper and a auto viper the auto would win. Manual now days is more for the act of feeling better in control also takes more skill so for many its shit talking rights when they win but the volume of wins are less than in a auto today rather than 20 years ago when it was oposite ends. Manual does work well for entry level in a drag race because transbrakes arent equipped so they are able to launch at higher rpm no mods needed.

Depends on the auto like those 10 speed autos are quicker than any manual because it shifts faster than them.
In my cars I’ve owned, automatic usually does better at a roll punch. Standards usually have a higher gear ratio and do better at a dead stop 1/4 mile.

I haven't been driving a manual trans car for very long, about a month and a half, so excuse me if i'm mistaken. It seems like the driver of that white 392 definitely knows his car like the back of his hand. Very nice shifting man! Major props. He most certainly would gap me in my Mustang.... No lift shift love it. All he needs is to remove the CDV (Clutch Delay Valve) and throw on a Barton short throw shift kit and he will be right next to you.

i have owned 16 A10 camaro ss and 21 6m and they were both fun and competitive / also own 18 A10 PP mustang gt and 19 bullitt M6 , not even close my A10 leaves it in the dust we are talking 6 cars ...11.97 118mph to a 12.38 115 .. and as for the scatpack i had a 15 A8 it was awsome but now im looking for a M6 21 scat ...i find the LT1 and the 6.4 Hemi are much closer in performance to their counter part auto versions as they just make so much more low end torque and flatter power curves .. the mustang is definatley much better with a ten speed ..But i would own a scat or camaro in either transmission and be happy especially if its my street car cruiser !!! ..Thanks for the demo!!!....i also had 17 challenger HC and 19 Charger HC both were nice but i had more fun with my scatpack on the street ..HC was not 30k better in my eyes !!!

The manual needs to be in 1st gear to get a good run at 40, but that's pretty close to the top end in 1st. 50 is great for 2nd gear, as it's right in the power band. 60 is also close to the top end in 2nd, so starting in 3rd is definitely low in the power band. From a dig, I think the manual is faster, assuming the driver can shift. Wheels & tires also make a huge difference.
I had an ‘18 Scat Pack in auto and it was a perfect daily. These were great runs to watch. That fella shifts very well!
this is why i have a 6 speed manual, damn near neck and neck even starts to creep up on the 8 speed some runs. Imagine with a good tuner sheesh.

Definitely should had Tached up to 6300 in third. They need to be run hard in the higher gears to maintain higher average horsepower from the start of the gear to the upshift. My first encounter with an 18 5.0 Gt had him seeing my lights even when I gave him the jump from 40,50 and 60. Stock but Hellcat upper and lower 195 t stat. Amsoil trans . And slightly lighter amsoil rear fluid and lighter amsoil mixed engine oil. Still has only a 2 psi pressure loss at 2000 rpm from stock weight oil. It all adds up. Higher tire pressures and a 10k mile 15 Srt 6 spd. With 15 percent 100 octane racing fuel to 85 percent 91 unleaded pump fuel in the daily .all the time.
Damn fine shifting.

Dude in the scat needs to get a skip shift eliminator. It plugs into the trans and the gear lock outs don’t happen anymore. Got one for my scat.
If his scat is base model he’s probably a good 200 lbs lighter which gives him an advantage up top. Either way good races both of you have some nice cars.
We need a race against a car similar to yours with the same mods and auto , so that we can know for sure if your car is a factory freak bonus points if the drivers switch

01GTB Daily I have the exact same car and the same color as well. With the same mods Rush has and I’m pretty damn certain I know what gears to be in and when to shift. Now that’s not to discredit the abilities of an auto but I think personally that the races would have been much closer.

he would have gotten you if he stayed in 2nd for the 40 roll instead of going to 3rd. 2nd goes all the way to 65 at redline and gets more power 40 so I don’t know why he went to 3rd

You feel so much more connected to the car with a manual. The auto has come a long way since the old 3 speeds. The auto is faster, I’ll never be able to shift that fast, but the grin factor goes to the manual all day long.

Guys should put a timed light on one of the dashes. When it goes off, both go. A sign of also reaction time. But these are close. I personally like my 6 spd . And will put an under drive pulley on it while I pull the manifold off for a mild cleanup and port. And a Stock throttle body that has been ported. Should be a matchup for the auto then.
I just love the auto, it shifts so fast, also you can use it like a manual with the paddles, auto is the way to go in my opinion.

Seems to me the manual is not in rpm range at the 40 or 60 , the fair comparison would be you both go to the quarter mile and settle it there , roll race dosent really prove much.

There's something wrong with Rush's driver window's.. i think Rush is hiding something with his window, when his window up and close then he start to gap his opponent,i think the NOS switch is with the window switches
