I want to take a couple of lines and thank all U.S. Armed service men and women for your dedication and many sacrifices. Here's to all past, present, and future. GOD BLESS AMERICA and GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU.
The pieces of paper are the different fireteam positions they are currently in for example: Automatic Rifleman, Fire Team leader, etc. Different fireteam formations require them to be in different positions.
It's the opening scene in the movie. It's played to create stress and confusion while the actual explosions and bullet fire go on around you. It's really quite different to be there in person. I just graduated last week and gotta say that I loved that course.
i am happy to see them going through intense training .These trainings that will keep them alive. I have been through the same. After certain time you turn to a warrior and kill not to be killed.
Nice to see Edson Range again. I did a re-qual there a long time ago. When I went through boot camp we fired at Camp Matthews. One of the last platoons to train and qualify before it was closed and the land transferred to UCSD. Recruit training has really changed over the years.
Its used to distinguish what position in the fire team you are. For example Fire Team Leader, Automatic Rifleman, Asst. Automatic Rifleman or Rifleman. It helps recruits learn the basics of fire team positions and their locations in different types of fire team formations, like Column, Wedge, Echelon, Skirmishers.
I like how they have the Saving Private Ryan beach assault playing in the background, adds a bit of realism to the course. I wish they had that when I was in boot camp.
@omgitsmilk Compliments of being raised in a military family. My Grandfather served in the Marine Corps during vietnam. My other Grandfather was a master sergeant in the Army during Korea. All 3 of my uncles went through Ranger Training together, with my one remaining uncle joining the Navy. People need to thank these guys, not critique them.
Way back in the ancient days on the Island we had the infiltration course and crawled under the wire in mud if you didn't leave a trail with your steel helmet you had to crawl backwards and start over again
This is why any marine at any time no matter if he is a cook, administration, or even a muscian. At anytime anyplace a marine male/female can pick up a rifle and join in the fight.
It's their posistion when they are in "fire teams". A fire team is a four person unit, with only a leader, SAW gunner, assistant gunner, and rifleman.. Each Marine has a designated spot when conducting various Fire Team movements. i.e. column, wedge, skirmishes ect.
I can't remember what each one exactly means but I remember that one indicates that your a saw gunner, squad leader, heavy weapon, and I want to say point. That's when you start learning tactical formations like wedges. It's there so the recruits can visually see where they need to be so not to cause more unneeded confusion.
There's a scene exactly like that in the film Jarhead and that was set in 1989 based off of the memoirs of an ex-marine, so my guess would be that it was used a lot later on than the 40s
Dont remember off the top of my head what each one represents specifically but they are the persons position in the fire team IE: fire team leader, riflemen, machine gunner, and assistant machine gunner.
Lol we had one unlucky kid in our platoon low crawl through a fire ant pile, two weeks later attacked buy yellow jackets, and during the crucible get bit by a spider. Drill instructors nicknamed him lord of the flies.
its called a Hooch not a tent. and in the MCRD West we only set them up for display purposes only. when it comes time to hit the rack we take them down and sleep under the stars.
i train em every other day with pyramids and circuit training and have had strength gaining routines designed for pull ups and nothing. tried diets and all sorts of supps and got really strong but no more then 1 and a 1/2 to 2 pull ups. i was told by my old recruiter whos a master sgt now to go navy and do corpsman or seabees but we will see about that
+gtarules1 When the hammer is up the weapon cannot be on safe. The hammer holds the trigger down and that blocks the selector lever from moving into the safe position. Once the hammer is pushed back down the selector lever is free to move to the safe position.
+DrE38 he was going over the steps in a function check while they were cleaning, that is all. As Golden Aura said, the weapon cannot be placed on safe while the hammer is up.
Not all companys did it, mine didnt. but they are positions in a fire team such as R - Rifleman. O with the x inside was team leader then A Gunner and Saw Gunner.
shit brings a tear to my eye for not making it over god damn pull ups. seriously got to t57 and got dropped to pcp and then to mrp 1 then to rsp and then home. 8/24/2009-12/17/2009 was my corps time. fucked thing is i would have been a good marine but you cant be a marine without pull ups. i still cant do more than 2. i want to come back so bad but damn pull ups are not a strong point. can do push ups and and crunches all day but cant do more then 2 pull ups. guess it just aint in the cards.
Lead series gets there highlight, but its all about fallow series. 2154. Seriously though, it wasent this epic when your actually doing it. The editor did a nice work on making this videos epic, thats for sure.
Oh cool sounds like they are using the sounds from Saving Private Ryan to guide the manuevers drill, that is just about the perfect movie to learn maneuvers from
They stopped doing live fire? I wasn't in the Corps but was in the infantry in the Army and had to crawl through simulated explosions and live .50 cal machine gun fire. But that was 10 years ago. I guess all services stopped?
you don't back in the 80 so I went through boot camp we're just getting out of work rude hazing it's pretty amazing how we get the crap beat out of us some of the stuff is way easier than what we had I'm not saying that they are tough but my God
They don't show weeks 8-13. It has to do with their standards on OPSEC in accordance with what they teach the recruits during that time frame. Some things, they really can't just put out there.
Back in the 40's they used to lay wire over a huge mud pit and they'd fire a mg.42 over the top of the wire and make the marines crawl under it, can remember a story from an old history teacher who knew a guy who stuck his head up and it took his head off in training, don't do that anymore lol
Holy shit they're playing saving private ryan audio in the background xD
KA MRR yeah they had it when i went through..its even better at night!
Haha I remember doing this and was like is that saving private ryan? Haha
I want to take a couple of lines and thank all U.S. Armed service men and women for your dedication and many sacrifices. Here's to all past, present, and future. GOD BLESS AMERICA and GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU. THANK YOU.
I want to take a couple of lines
I love it how in the noises in the back ground were in the ones used in Saving Private Ryan.
The pieces of paper are the different fireteam positions they are currently in for example: Automatic Rifleman, Fire Team leader, etc. Different fireteam formations require them to be in different positions.
Also fck yeah Tom hanks trains marines
I remember doing all of this lol it was good looking back on it but at that time I hated it
unforgettable time, many years ago for me!!!
Thank you so much sir. I am so thankful for people who actually give respect to people like this, the people who I will join. Once again, thank you
It's the opening scene in the movie. It's played to create stress and confusion while the actual explosions and bullet fire go on around you. It's really quite different to be there in person. I just graduated last week and gotta say that I loved that course.

everyone in the room was wonder what the hell I was watching on my phone. lol

Amazing how far they have come in the "real life" scenario training (I mean from studying the old video's of training).
I remeber this like it was yesterday, FUCK THAT SHIT!!!
Excellent training
I'm going in as an MP and from a small town called Menomonie, wisconsin. my dad was in for 20 years, and he's basically the reason I chose the Marines
I like how they have the Saving Private Ryan beach assault playing in the background, adds a bit of realism to the course. I wish they had that when I was in boot camp.
Awesome! I can't wait!!
because it's supposed to simulate what you would hear in combat. Tom hanks got me through that course.

omg i love these videos? why? cuz these were shot when i was there....im from platoon 2149...
Operational Terms and Graphics representing elements of a fire team
Way back in the ancient days on the Island we had the infiltration course and crawled under the wire in mud if you didn't leave a trail with your steel helmet you had to crawl backwards and start over again
hahahah yes!i love that series!i was just watching it like 5 minutes ago
This is why any marine at any time no matter if he is a cook, administration, or even a muscian. At anytime anyplace a marine male/female can pick up a rifle and join in the fight.
country captain chicken mre's are what nightmares are made of

I like how their using the saving private ryan d-day scene to show what it's like to be in real combat experience
Where's week 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12?
You don't do shit in 3rd phase lol
+Captaín Kirk Dude! The crucible...
@@MrKirkCaptain drill
it's they're position in their fire team. you have the team leader, ready man, gunner, and assistant gunner.
I can't remember what each one exactly means but I remember that one indicates that your a saw gunner, squad leader, heavy weapon, and I want to say point. That's when you start learning tactical formations like wedges. It's there so the recruits can visually see where they need to be so not to cause more unneeded confusion.

I went to the island for my boot camp and I did this assualt course in knee high mud...not a fun time.
I can't wait for the challange. I'll be in parris around may for the female recruits.
I love the Saving Private Ryan DDay scene in the background for clutter noise.
Each symbol stands for something different. Like it shows their position in either their platoon, squad, or fire team.
Tom Hanks visits Marine training?
He's a DI! Didn't you hear?
haha I thought I was the only one that heard tom hanks xD
its called a Hooch not a tent. and in the MCRD West we only set them up for display purposes only. when it comes time to hit the rack we take them down and sleep under the stars.
the sound in 2:00 is from saving private ryan, great movie
@Josh3B different fireteam positions, rifleman, team leader, gunner, and assistant gunner
Great movie
Wheres week 8? I love the hell out of these videos.
@Th3UnrealProductions Yes at MCT
i train em every other day with pyramids and circuit training and have had strength gaining routines designed for pull ups and nothing. tried diets and all sorts of supps and got really strong but no more then 1 and a 1/2 to 2 pull ups. i was told by my old recruiter whos a master sgt now to go navy and do corpsman or seabees but we will see about that
Dam its crazy how it's all green now
Yea, its saving private ryan sound. There not allowed to use live ammunition during the drill. So the movie sounds simulate fire.
At Parris Island they have real effects in the mud to make it seem like your taking fire.
9:29 "Make sure the weapon's on safe!" (Weapon on semi lol)
gtarules1 Yeah, I noticed that as well. Haha
Cool. Thanks.
This was a blast and a half haha
Not all companys did it, mine didnt. but they are positions in a fire team such as R - Rifleman. O with the x inside was team leader then A Gunner and Saw Gunner.
8:20 the recruit is doing it wrong, you always take the buffer spring out first, just so that it wont hit you in the face
The only time I used live fire was at SOI. Not in boot camp.
@Josh3B They're to identify who's who like fire-team leader, rifle-man, automatic rifle-man, and assistant automatic rifle-man...
@luvemibear Nice, I can't wait to enlist!
@luvemibear I was referring to the "looks fun" .
@LAXdart depends on you and the MRE
its to signify their role within their fire team.
Men, I am Captain A. Walker. This is EXACTLY what you will be going through. Semper fi
Omg watching them eat quickly, sleeping in those tents, drilling through those obstacles 😢😢😢
shit brings a tear to my eye for not making it over god damn pull ups. seriously got to t57 and got dropped to pcp and then to mrp 1 then to rsp and then home.
@halonerd69971 You'd think they would use something from "The Pacific", since they're Marines and all.
thanks
at 1:40 did they have an audio excerpt from Saving Private Ryan playing? Am I the only one who hears Tom Hanks?
There's Corpsmen, it's Navy but they're assigned with Marines.
I guess throwing your weapon down and yelling "I Surrender!" could count as a "strong training".
1:40 we used the same audio at Ft Benning haha
+lilmarine is that a recording from saving private ryan?
+Andrew Gala yes it is
Lead series gets there highlight, but its all about fallow series.
2154.
Seriously though, it wasent this epic when your actually doing it. The editor did a nice work on making this videos epic, thats for sure.
1:37 they are playing "Saving Private Ryan" in the background :). you can hear Tom Hanks screaming
They use it because it has realistic war sounds. I'm not sure why they didn't take out the dialogue.
Where is your night vision video camera?
lol Saving Private Ryan at 2:10
Boomers course. Same thing but at night. By far the funnest thing in boot camp.
Anthony Caballero It's funny now lol all we were thinking at the time was WTF??? LOL
This brings back memories from about 6 weeks ago. mmmm.... mud...
Yes they did have Saving Private Ryan audio playing. Running that course was fun, except the part where my earplugs fell out...every time. haha
you don't back in the 80 so I went through boot camp we're just getting out of work rude hazing it's pretty amazing how we get the crap beat out of us some of the stuff is way easier than what we had I'm not saying that they are tough but my God
@mackietac they teach that it is a weapon of killing, not a gun
Idk why but live with it
The pieces of marked paper on the front of some helmets- what do those signify?
Were they playing the d-day scene to saving private ryan
this is almost the exact same thing we did in field medicine school in 22 area
lol at 1:30 the DI was like wat da fuq?! You gonna get my uniform dirty.
They don't show weeks 8-13. It has to do with their standards on OPSEC in accordance with what they teach the recruits during that time frame. Some things, they really can't just put out there.
That would be what role they are in their squad.
I think it's the billets within their fireteams.
haha The battle sounds during combat training are from the movie saving private rian haha
how i miss waiting in line for hours so the other terds could finish the course.
In army basic we were doing live fire bounding by the 4th week.
isn't army basic like 6 to 8 weeks or something like that?
Joshua Mallory like no
+flight2k5 lol I actually didn't know. all I know is Air Force and Marine Corps (in the DEP for Marines).
Joshua Mallory and knowing half the battle :-)
Yeah but army compresses Bootcamp and MCT into one short program.
Are they using sound effects from saving private ryan?
7:40 is the best part.
Why at 1:44 is there the sounds effects from saving private Ryan?
Back in the 40's they used to lay wire over a huge mud pit and they'd fire a mg.42 over the top of the wire and make the marines crawl under it, can remember a story from an old history teacher who knew a guy who stuck his head up and it took his head off in training, don't do that anymore lol
I see they are using the Intro Battle Sounds from Saving Private Ryan
That fire is it on perpose or on accident
Do they really play those 'sound affects'? Seem to me like that would help in psychological preparedness.
how many times do you get to fire your weapon at boot camp
