Maybe the same people that got outraged at the X-Men comic with Northstar.
Easy. It didn’t fit the titular character’s theme. Maybe if it were the arkhamverse comic books… and not the the “Batgirl of Burnside”, who’s targeted audience was young female readers.
(Mind you, I liked the variant).
a lot of fans don't want to see their favorite heroes go through any trauma. and they want their heroes (like superman) to be a boy scout. And then Marvel and DC sort of give in to this pressure sometimes.
ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WHO RESPECTS THE MEDIUM OF COMICS WOULD DARE CALL IRON MAN 128 ONE OF THE “WORST COVERS” OF ALL TIME REGARDLESS OF THE SUBJECT MATTER. ITS ONE OF THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT BOOKS IN THE INDUSTRY FOR FUCKS SAKE. IF YOU THINK ITS SO CONTROVERSIAL THAT ITS A “BAD COVER” THEN YOU’RE NOT MATURE ENOUGH FOR COMICS.

What about Green Lantern/Green Arrow #85? The comic depicting Speedy using drugs on the cover. It was certainly controversial and it also was a major element in starting the dark era of comics and ending the Silver Age.

Sorry, it's not Hal's job to handled streets level injustices (There's GA and Batman, among others, for that.) Hal is a Green Lantern, his job is to patrol the 'entire' Sector 2814.
He got in trouble with the Guardians in the 80's for putting too much attention on Earth and handling personal problems (Threats to Carol's business, for example) He was sent off Earth on a one year exile to be reminded of his duty to patrol his entire sector.

The artist responsible for the cover of Conan is Joe Bennett. He's a Brazilian penciller,who did a lot of Spider man's comics back in the 90's

That first one is all the worst excesses of 90s comics rolled into one image.
Wasn't that God comic cover just some gag by Erik Larsen for Savage Dragon? It's clearly a joke based on the cover of the second issue of Captain America Comics.
I think the artist of the Spiderwoman cover was Frank Cho.
Oh Boy Spidey what happened to you. I always thought the Batgirl and Joker Cover was really great, so much emotion and very nicely drawn. It's so stupid that people (women) complain about catwoman being over sexualized, that is part of her personality and she uses it quite a lot, beside just look around how some girls and women dress nowadays (and act too)

As I recall, someone showed a copy to batgirl actress Decarlo, before she passed away, and she did not like it.
Another good video, Dante! Keep up the good work and awesome research. Some of the covers are really awful, but as for some, I think it's pretty cool such as the infamous Killing Joke variant cover on Batgirl although we all know the reason why it was offensive. I actually love the Crime SuspenStories #22 as it's the super classic severed head cover although the significant behind the issue leads to the legal implication of comic authority, but still, its an awesome cover!
I think Action Comics #469 deserved a mention here due to the humiliating position of Superman in that cover. Superman #188 as well is also another terrible cover in my opinion with Superman in weird and unconvincing body position.
Another is worth mentioning here is Wonder Woman #88. I'm a big fan of Brian Bolland, but there is something terrible wrong with the cover to be honest.

Yeah, we are in an age of increased sensitivity... I don’t necessarily agree or disagree, but I love when a cover creates controversy. It’s actually ironic though, because the more negative publicity a cover gets, the more collectors want to pick up them up lol

the only really bad ones were the golden age and the ugly ones. But the Batgirl/Catwoman one? People need to stop being so damn soft. And weak.

HANSI was produced in conjunction with Jewish and Christian organizations. The story arc is about a young girl who is at first enamored with the NAZI movement but then sees it for what it is and condemns it in the end.
The Lois lane book was a "steal" from a current and popular movie the time.

I understand getting miffed about anatomical inaccuracies but I hate it when ppl say that women shouldn’t be sexy in comics. They say that larger chested women are unrealistic which as a larger woman, I can say that’s bs. Some women like comic heroines are very confident and enjoy their sexuality. As an artist, it’s tempting to draw beautiful women bc they’re so visually captivating. The balance and flow of round, soft shapes is pleasing to the eye. I feel like artists should be able to draw sexy women as long as anatomy isn’t straight up abused.

I found The Killing Joke to be very meh. Cheap shock tactics, no twists, no real depth. Alan Moore doesn't like it either.

EC comics had the best comics. I love it
If I recall correctly, Superman didn't hem and haw around; he flat out said he couldn't marry Lois regardless of her skin color because being his wife would make her a huge target. She then asked, "Do you have to become a broken record whenever marriage is brought up?" which implied his answer was the same as it had been and thus skin color wasn't a factor. Other than that nitpick, though, I enjoyed this video.
Never mind the fact that she's Superman's girlfriend is public knowledge already makes her a target.

I never understood the controversy over Spider-Woman no1, I don't personally think it's a good cover as I don't think it's been drawn that well (Obvs just opinion). They were putting Spider-man in similar (almost identical on occasion) poses years before this and nobody cared. Mcfarlanes Spider-Man no1 from the 90's never gets a mention and you can literally see his balls, it's one of the most copied covers ever that noone has a problem with (not even me lol, its a good cover), but yeah it's wrong to do that with a woman lmfao

At one time I had a comic book collection numbering approximately 55, 000 books .I have since sold it , but one of the books I kept was Crime Suspense Stories # 22 .Not sure what that says about me . As always , your videos are a blast , but I have to point out that NO list of this subject can be complete without Action Comics #457 . One look at it and you will know why .

Can I give you a piece of advice? Like, just a small tip that might be helpful. I know that not everybody thinks like I am, but when I am watching a video in which somebody is talking, I am looking straight into his eyes, or, well, his face in fact. Because of the fact that you were positioned in front of the light, the light was reflecting on your glasses and directly into camera. While this is not an important issue and can be just forgotten, it is pretty hard to follow you if I am looking at you and a small light is always reflecting into the camera, directly into my eyes, in fact. You can consider changing the angle of the camera, or idk, again it is not an important thing, not want to sound offensive or something, it just distracts the focus from you to the glasses. Sorry for those who don't think the same. I have watched your videos and I like them, but this particular one with glasses just tired my eyes because I was just trying to avoid looking at them. Nice ones, btw, you look okay with them :D

What's going on with fingers on the left hand of the spiderman electric chair cover? looks like his little finger has been broken or something. The dude actually saying splat on the gay comics cover hurts my brain. The Princess Diana cover.....yeah.....just weird. A lot of funny covers there dude, good choices. As I guy who put a dude with a foot for a head dressed in a tutu, pillow fighting on a cover, I can't really be too judgemental of what's appropriate for a comic book cover but I'd like to think people get that it's intentionally weird...that being said if it was being done as a print run I'd probably do a toned down cover so as not to offend people bringing kids to the comic store.
