It's not showboating the reason why the seal or holding the ball with the head, back or legs is forbidden. It's injuries. As a defender, how do you recover that ball without riskying hitting the opponent? Showboating has never been formally prohibited. Otherwise Antony's twirls, CR7 weird backwards stepovers thing, Neymar and half of Dinho's and Neymar's plays would be illegal.
What I realised is that FIFA is actually protecting the infractores.

Really strange that these cool tricks, that do not harm anyone, are banned on sportsmanship grounds, while it is still allowed (or largely not punished) to fake an injury, hit an opponent in a sneaky way, use all tactics of the world to lose time while you win, etc. All of these things make me dislike a sport I love. And beautiful body and ball control tricks are banned. Seriously?

@@godsgod1677 Man you are so wrong how can you compare tackles and these fancy tricks. The guy with the seal dribble got his many injuries from that. People in football try to hit the ball with their foot and if the ball is near your head you could get kicked. A tackle is part of the game, there are enough risks but sure as hell you don't die from brain trauma because of a tackle.
