Super late to this party but pro tip: you can just use a hair flat iron to put on iron on patches. Soooo much easier and faster.

Omg I love you! Thank you so much for making this video! I knew that jersey had plucking problems and I recently adopted two cockateels who came from an abusive home and when I got them I noticed that they had started plucking under their wings. I really needed a solution to this other than telling them not to do that when they were doing it. This video help me out a lot and I can’t thank you enough.
I am OBSESSED with watching you, your family, and all your BEAUTIFUL BIRDS 🐦... I do not have any pets. I'd love to have one but I do not have the time to invest. My husband had 3 strokes and my hands are full with him and working. But I am in love with watching you and your birds. Have u tried any of those new pluck collars or capes for jersey? You should do a review of what products you like for that. There’s 2 companies that make hard collars for neck that prevents plucking on chest, that comes together with screws & the company that made the first flight suit now makes a fleece cape for pluckers. It can also go over a sock sweater or flight suit or harness to prevent plucking AND has some cool grommets for attaching lil toys on the cape to entertain themselves as well which seems pretty cool.

Your obviously very used to putting on and making these, still I was literally holding my breath every time the scissors went near jersey ! Anxiety worked over time there 😂

I was just wrecking my brain on where to buy a medical neck/body guard for my umbrella cockatoo...he started picking a few years back on his chest...now he is going to the back...so now I got to buy a pack of socks😂that is so adorable. ..I have always wondered where you bought Jerseys Sweater!!! I used velcro on the back for halloweenso i put the wing through then the feet and then just stuck the velco together than at night just took it off really easy

I would use velcro in the back, cut then add the velcro, she wouldnt be able to reach it and chew it, this would make it easy to put off and on
no the velcro is on the outside not the inside, but out of reach
Could probably easily sew a little «cardigan» with plastic snaps or velcro closure on the back. She could have a few so they could be laundered with clothing. They could have a collar made with ribbing (bought or recycled from socks). Would need a «prototype», a newly cut/adapted sock sweater which has been taken off again very carefully without harming the sweater... Would be cute with a few designs. She could even have warmer ones for the winter... 🐦🐤🐧😊
...Isn't that an extra waste of money because Jersey will just chew the sock and it will get thrown out anyway?

Thank you both for this ,i am about to attempt to make one for a cockatiel and a 22yr old goffins that looked like a plucked chicken when i adopted her. Shes much better now but she still has areas shes pulling from. Wish me luck on not being eaten by the goffins, im on blood thinner lol

Omg im the the same way with blankets lol I love a cockatoo cuddle... During the summer of 03 I got to work a seasonal job at my local zoo... Best job in the entire world, I had so much fun... Anyways we had an umbrella cockatoo there named Casper, and he used to cuddle with me all the time, sometimes he would try and do the "mating" thing with me... Every time he did that though, I just put him back in his cage... But umbrella cockatoos have the best cuddles between all the parrots... I want a cockatoo soo bad... I still to this day go visit Casper at the zoo!!! Love that bird so much!!!

if you guys have parrotlet or a budgie, you guys can shrink one of your socks or you can buy baby socks. But if you decide to shrink it, stretch it out a bit so it won't be too tight. And if you decide to buy a baby sock, make sure you buy it for a 1 or 2-year-old, it will fit best! :)

A scissors😂 I love your videos, I don't have another bird yet but you have loads of useful information, I'm mad on researching pets, I'm a few months in to my greencheek research, I feel almost ready to bring a new bird into the home now, but I'm not sure if I'm putting too much on the dog with a new critter as he's slowing down a lot in his old age, although the extra company while I'm at work will be good for him!

Thank you much for this video! I spent hours today trusting to design a little jumps suit to help my poor Amilio stop plucking his feathers. He’s plucked his entire stomach and thighs. I’ve tried so many things and I’ve tried so hard to figure out why he started doing this out of no where? Any suggestions
He just turned one a few weeks ago and the plucking started mid December.. he so has plucked his two besties heads bad i just don’t understand this behavior because he love the two females I have. Any thoughts? Sorry this message is so long. I’m just desperate to help him . I’ve spent hundreds of dollars hooinh that the doctors would figure out what’s wrong and still no answers😔

I'm not a bird owner myself due to little free time and shift work, but i really enjoy watching parrot videos. why does Jersey have to wear the sweater in the first place? does cockatoo have change of coat? thanks for explaining =)
krehen jersey was rescued, she plucks her feathers due to stress. (Its a common type of self harm in birds) the sock stops her from plucking as much and protects her bare skin (and probably keeps her warm if she has no feathers too). If you look at the first videos of Jersey she looks almost naked, her feathers have grown back really well!
