- In this recently restored KTRK film from 1968. Don Rickles rips reporters on a press junket for the film "Kelly's Heroes". RIckles also has some fun with the movie's star, Clint Eastwood.
You can tell that Don was just making stuff up as he went along, amazing comedic mind.
Very few like him. Robin Williams comes to mind.
Impromptu. Don is the best
This is brilliant stuff of the master himself. Whoever found this THANK YOU from all Rickles fans.
og THis is a gold find, I find that KELLYs heroes one of a kind film DONT forget Carroll O conner as the wacky Col who thinks the guys chasing and breaking enemy lines are soo BRAVE
@@michaelceraso1977 I agree, Carroll O'Connor was great in that film . All the actors were , Kelly's Heroes is one of my all -time favourite films !!
His real warmth comes through.
@@howardcoles3537 Kelly’s Heroes is one of my favorites, also.
We can’t forget Oddball
( D Sutherland) and Moriority! ( G McCloud)
@@buckjohnson1119 I'm glad you're a fan of Kelly's Heroes too . And yes , Oddball and Moriorty, - or is it Moriarty ? - not sure, but they were both great in the film ! I think Donald Sutherland gave one of his best ever performances as Oddball. Thanks for mentioning the name of the actor who played Moriarty, I didn't know his name before. He gave a great performance as the disgruntled engineer throughout the film I think. The exchanges between Oddball and Moriarty about " negative waves " always make me laugh !
I'VE NEVER SEEN CLINT EASTWOOD
BRAKE UP LAUGHING , THE ONLY ONE WHO COULD DO IT OFCORSE
IS DON RICKLES .
I have to brag here. I actually made Clint Eastwood chuckle twice in the quick (and only) conversation he and I had way back in 1994.
@@toddmccraven7078 I'm jealous .
Yes, he really put on the brakes.
@@toddmccraven7078 He was probably secretly thinking of which part of your back he would like to break ;)
Eastwood is one of the best action hero/anti-heros of all time. Rickles will be, with little doubt, the greatest insult comedian of all time. Two legends! 🙌
@Duke of Prunes -well said!!
Also a great director
Clint receiving the lifetime achievement award was great with Don, standing to give thanks; " 20 Years ago, I worked with Clint on Kelly's Heroes.....................Haven't heard from him since"...:)
Where in hell did this come from?!!! It's a GEM!!! Seeing Rickles absolutely ROAST Clint...that is GOLDEN. "When you see Clint at your local drive-in theater, DRIVE RIGHT INTO THE SCREEN."
Brian D These are press junket videos.
One of the best movies ever made.
Picture in jugoslavia
Right Barbara?
"You just give him a little toy and he goes and plays on the grass"
That is a great line. God bless Don Rickles. R.I.P.
Many years later at Clints AFI awards show Rickels continued right where he left off. Classic
This is all off the cuff Rickles, the man was a comedic genius.
Wow this is classic TV gold
Timeless. I can Watch rickles for hours. Gosh he’s amazing!
I was 14 years old when I saw Kelly's Heroes for the first time, and even then, I thought to myself: "What an odd combination... Clint Eastwood and Don Rickles?!" What a marvelously talented guy. Rest In Peace, Don.
Don Rickles was a natural! Funniest I’ve ever seen him and unrehearsed! Such talent!
Unbelievable how funny this is in 2020. What a treasure.
March 2021!!
We need a Don Rickles today big time.
FOR PRESIDENT.. 👌
Nope. There's a lot of Karen's now, lawsuits after lawsuits will come.
We NEED To bring back this type of entertainment.. remake of, BLAZING SADDLES, Anyone??
@@mikeydeloa7348 YES... YES.. YES... GOOD TIMES...!!
@@mikeydeloa7348 leave the classics alone plz. 😁
Kelly's heroes, my all-time favorite movie.
Everyone wanted to be ripped by Don Rickles. He was a legend!
That's what they used to say, " you know you've made it when you've been roasted by the Don"
The Filipino guy was Joe Quirino, author, actor and TV presenter. He had a show in the 70s and 80s called Seeing Stars with Joe Quirino. Outstanding host. He was part of that tough-as-nails World War II generation (like Don) that didn't get hurt by a joke and went on fighting through life, where jokes are the least of your worries. He died in the late 80s.
Thank you!
I could not quit laughing. Don Rickles was one of a kind. The king of roasts
He really was an American treasure.
I have never see Clint Eastwood laughed this much even in any of his movies 😄
I had just finished watching Kelly's Heroes and this gets uploaded. What a lovely day!!
Same here, great timing!
Last night, the air t.v. channel "Movies!" shown this movie. It was great.
Incredibly, there were literally multiple classic films every year in those days. In these days its all about CGI and explosions. I do not recall any movies that would be considered a classic in recent history that would measure up to these films.
Nice!
What great footage. Such a great flick too. Love Rickles in this with Clint and Telly.
RIP Mr. Rickles, thanks for all the laughs.
Woof woof woof! Thats my other dog imitation!
Odd Ball must have been eating cheese and drinking wine when the interviews were on!
I guess Moriarty must have been sending out those negative waves again!"
Say, you forgot to mention when Oddball was drinking some wine & eating cheese,he was also catching some rays from the Sun. I dig that movie, went to see it and Where Eagles Dare as a double feature at the drive-in.
Those were the daze when l was still sniffing girls bicycleseats, way before l got me some GUTZ!!!

Back then it was considered an honor to get insulted by Don R.
Believe it or not, Even today it is STILL an honor to be insulted by Don Rickles.
First time I saw this movie was in 1973 as an 8 year old kid. I loved it! It would come on around 1am on CBS every so often. It is my favorite movie and favor Clint movie to this day. Best WWII film for me a well.
This is a great post and first time seeing it. Thanks!
I think I first saw it on a Saturday afternoon. Was probably around 1980, or 1979. One thing that was really interesting was that apparently they had some dead space and they ran it without any commercials. I sat and watched the whole thing with my dad.
@@PeterMancini
Nice memories. My dad and I also watched classics together when I was a kid.
It was a great movie and this is great footage.
This should be on the extras on the Blu Ray- Excellent
That would makes sense; therefore it shan't occur.
Never seen Clint Eastwood doubled over with laughter before - only Don could do that lol :P
It's true. No one had the guts like Rickles.
Two legendary entertainers... sadly, a bygone era.
Ah the trinkets we've gained and the wisdom we've losted.
Never seen Clint Eastwood laughed out loud. Don had advantages on it.
This is priceless.
"Mr. Warmth" doing what he did best. Hysterical.
Rickles is very much like Robin Williams in that he cannot be around any dead air of silence. He can't seem to stay silent and his mind is ever moving to find witty things to say.
We were all blessed to have them as long as we had them.
This actually pretty awesome. Nice find. Thanks for posting.
No one was safe when Rickles was on his game. He would be appalled of the way things are today.
Definitely wouldn't have a career unless he mocked the right exclusively
That was the beauty of the “Rickles era”...Everything (including himself) was fair game!...I sincerely miss him! 👌👍😉
Brilliant just brilliant. As a Brit newly discovering Mr Rickles this is a great clip. I’ve watched most of the dean martin roasts etc. But there was something raw and warm in this clip. Thanks for posting. 👏
Just the boys hanging out
Not often I praise the U Tube algorithm as I think they’re wankers but this made my night.
Wish we had humor like that today
Seeing Clint Eastwood laugh out loud warms my heart.
Thank you, Don!
3:51; "Joe, it's good to have you here...the shirts came back just the way I like 'em!"
Clint Eastwood is one of my all time favorites.
God, he is funny. Clint started out so serious but totally broke up at the end.
Don makes it up as he goes when he's on a roll he's moving
Clint probably doesn’t want to admit it, but I think his very first acting job was on “Highway Patrol”. I was surprised when I was watching it on ME TV one night and saw him on it. Clint always reminded me of my late husband. His smile and his tallness and cheekbones. This is one of my favorite movies. Love it!
I think Telly Savalas introduced Don and Clint back in 1961 and they become best friends for 56 years, until the day Don passed away. No one could crack Clint like Don did. Two different personalities that managed to have a friendship for more than half a century. Don wrote notes and letters to Clint all the time. He did that with all his friends, always roasting them. But once he wrote a note do Clint that just said "I'm very proud of you. Barbara and I are always rooting for your success. I love you." Some sources say that Clint cried quite a bit while receiving the news that Don had died.
Fine example of days gone by. Of course this would be censored, changed or edited due to the current “culture”
This comment again🥱
Don Rickles was a class act. Always on his toes. He feared no one. Well, maybe Telly Savalas! HA! We saw Kelly's Heroes the first time at the Ranch Drive-Inn in Ames. I must have been about 6 years old. Right before I started building Monogram Sherman tank and jeep models. Halcyon days to be a Kid.
When it says clint Eastwood in Don Rinckles in the title, you must click. IT'S STATE LAW, I SWEAR TO GOD IT IS.
Donnie Baker 😆
Great movie! Great actors!
I watch this all the time on dvd.
"Will you stop crying! I haven't even asked you yet"! 🙄
Spat my drink when I first heard that line, it still makes me laugh even after a dozen or so times watching this great movie...
and the way he follows it with: "....the hell's the matter with you?!"
Two CLASSICS. When Americans were REALLY AMERICANS!!! This stuff is gold! God bless you for posting!!
True, but even BETTER, a British script.
@@southerncomfort7490 ... never knew that Troy Kennedy Martin was Scottish; intriguing.
The late great don rickles RIP.. cA
In the days when movies excelled
Rickles talking like a stream of consciousness and then ripping Eastwood for not speaking up. Eastwood’s cheeks probably hurt from smiling so hard.
One of a kind. Miss u Donnie boy. Rip u are missed. U folks know he is from Brooklyn. ..
Funny stuff! Rickles also had some of the best lines in the movie (which I've seen about a dozen times - first time was on the big screen).
Back when e everybody could take a ballbustin without having to turn to depression meds...
Or having to go on Oprah
Hear, hear!
Amen
Yup. Pathetic times we live in. Pathetic.
Yes. We live in times with no cojones.
I just finished watching it again 🇺🇸
This is my favorite show all time
These were the days when A list Hollywood stars & politicians, including Presidents, would stand in line to be insulted by Don Rickles..... and not a one of them would get offended.
Good point. Today people can't even lose elections without crying foul for a month
Wait until the idiots on Twitter discover Don Rickles they will go insane with impotent fury and rage wishing they could bring him back to life so they could cancel him. This happens whenever they discover something old before they were born. They hated Steve Martin's brilliant King Tut music sketch from SNL it originally aired in 1977 or 1978 and the SJW crowd Hated it they thought it made fun of Egyptians. They tried to get Friends taken off the air because the Friends were all White. They got angry at Letterman for his interviews from 25 years ago.

What a find! These little promotion films for the management back in Hollywood were meant to be advance publicity, but this clip is simply comedy gold!
Rickles made anything he touched funnier than it was before he touched it. An original.
Wonderful wonderful no PC anywhere just brilliant
people used to be real. that ended some time ago
Absolutely a brilliant find...There simply was no greater ad-lib comedian than Don Rickles. He is missed.

wow, finally a clip of Rickles I haven’t seen. This is great. It’s like someone was just taking home movies of the behind the scenes on Kelly’s Heroes. I really miss Rickles. He was one of a kind.
WOW!!! This was really a treat. Kelly's Heroes is my favorite Clint Eastwood and this film even makes it better. Don Rickles is just hilarious making everybody including Clint to break down in laughter. As a pinoy, I was suprised that Joe Quirino was on the set and interviewed Rickles and he had a good time too. His delivery of jokes is amazingly spontaneous. Undoubtably everyone liked working with him.
