On today's episode of Locked On Kentucky, Lance Dawe discusses Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats taking visits with Great Osobor from the Utah State Aggies and Amari Williams from the Drexel Dragons. Could Pope land BOTH of them out of the college basketball transfer portal? Dawe explains why it very well could happen before the end of the weekend.
There are a ton of players Kentucky has reached out to in the transfer portal. With every single scholarship player gone from John Calipari's roster last season, Dawe takes a look at every portal prospect the Wildcats have contacted at each position. Which players are the best? Which ones does Kentucky need to avoid? To wrap up, Dawe talks about two new contacted players - TJ Bamba from the Villanova Wildcats and Jonas Aidoo from the Tennessee Volunteers.

I was really impressed with Osobor in the NCAA tournament this year. Surround him with shooters in Pope's system i think he would do very well

I think it's very important to keep realistic expectations for next season. It will be a true rebuild year, complete roster overhaul. I see them potentially making the tournament, but they will be a rebuild team. Year 2 and Year 3 of Mark Pope will be the decisive years and set the tone for the rest of his time as coach of Kentucky Men's Basketball.

Get both Williams and Osobar on the Ky roster. Much needed rim protection and offensive threats down low. Lance is firing on all cylinders with these portal pieces. Coach Pope needs to tune in to locked on Kentucky !!
Nah. We gotta keep that same energy. Every UK fan said Pope is a better Xs and Os coach. So this shouldnt be hard as long as he gets a roster filled. He should be able to go deep in the tourney getting players from the portal. There is no giving him 2 to 3 yrs. Hit the ground running if he knows how to coach better.
We can still at least surpass last year's record. Pope has done that with less than he'll have on this team.

I'm watching Daron Holmes from Dayton very close! If he enters the portal, he instantly goes to the #1 overall spot in the rankings in my book! This kid is elite and special, and would be a guy that could throw a team over the edge!

Thank you for this video. Osobor and Williams will be on the floor at the same time. They will be a centerr and power forward. Osobor is not a true center he can play it if needed but reminds me a little bit of Mashburn, not as good of a ball handler though at this point.

I watched Osobor play in Logan, Utah this past January. He’s good in the paint, and he can hit his free throws. So, he would be a Great get. But they’ll have to get him to run. He got winded pretty early and often.
It takes a lot more than just feeling confident let's hope and pray that's something does happen and we do get some decent transferies

I’m gone tell y’all something this the first time I’ve been following for the transfer portals and nils and I gotta say the whole thing is just disgusting. I read it was nearing a quarter of players that are in the portal so far. Now that’s just ridiculous. Jerry jones out there crazy old billionaire…somethings gonna give soon I can guarantee ya that. The suits ain’t gonna allow it much longer you watch.
Jaxson Robinson was not getting any clock with Arkansas so I love BBN is praying he comes play there.

Only that 10% that are nut jobs think he should be great next year. Most of us don't completely base our lives on wins or losses. I'm just glad Cal is gone. He was too arrogant and condescending. Perry won't feel the weight of the world. He will do well though. He reminds me of Sheppard in how he plays, but nobody can expect that level of performance.

Maybe if some of the guys would have followed Pope and they picked up a decent player or two in the portal early, to where there was a decent team around him and they would be competitive I could have seen it. I think you think UK can just stock pile players like they did in recruiting. It might not be the same in the transfer portal? Simply because most of these player especially the top players wants to start. It's going be interesting to try to recruit top players while trying too recruit top players in the portal too. Sometimes you can't always get what u want? UK.

Well here’s the problem how are you gonna make your whole pitch about the ones being here, being here because they want to be here and playing for the name on the front and then say oh btw here’s a big ol pile of cash? How does that work? How do you even that out? Because you’re saying two different things one with your words and the other with your actions that contradict your words? Hell idk it’s all confusing as heck to me anyway. I’ll let the ones with the names on the doors figure that one out.
I will say he was talking about getting leaders, having a stable core of two or three high character guys to surround with these bid badgers to round it out. I tell ya, this first years gonna be rough if a couple pieces don’t just fall in place. I’ll look forward to next year a lot more where he can get a better start on things and see how that goes I just hope they can figure out a plan to compete with the all the wage waggers out there

This make sense in one way and not the other way...why would you go to school if u play the same position? They both want to start and only one can, unfortunately. All these players transferring out should show the UK fans they were just their for a quick jaunt to the NBA, not championships. If u get one of them that's the most too expect, realistically.

Duke (may they forever be puke) has 7 players in the portal. 7 players! Blue blood with a good young coach too. They weren’t great but they weren’t bad by no means. Did better than us. But I think they recruited freshmen pretty heavy for next season. I could see how that might push a few out. Pope gonna have to work hard to find the right guys - good disciplined leaders who care about what they represent, and it looks like he’s starting to get some good hires on his staff to help so we’ll see

We have to remember a "not so big" big man can be awesome, but very ineffective. We learned that 2 years ago with Oscar. We need a legitimately large /tall big man!
I hate to disagree, but the inside game is outdated. Purdue for example. Pope will want more 3 shooters than anything. Granted, you do want a rebound or two. I just don't think his style of play calls for a Shaq.
You can give Cal wal-mart, Tyson foods,and the Dallas cowboys and he would get out coached by a Jr. High school coach. He will be a three years and done.

Pope is the coach, he played directly under Rick Pitino. He and his first assistant hired have developed a NEW offense that nobody has. Houston's head coach says it's the most difficult offense in the USA to defend.

Not gonna lie aly khalifa a player that played for pope last year choosing Louisville over reuniting with his former coach at a premier school like Kentucky is a terrible look. What will recruits and transfers think If popes own players don’t even want to play for him?
Khalifa was a project, his conditioning was awful, was a defensive liablity, and is redshirting next year because he isnt healthy. Thats why.
