Tribal life to westerners seem like they are very poor, which they are. In reality, they've most likely lived their whole lives like this. This is the case with most 3rd world countries. Eating with their hands, and sitting on the ground seems much less "domesticated" to a western eye. In truth it is, but not by their standards. Try watching Pakistani street food, you'll see it's similar, but with more modern elements. Watch how they do in Trinidad. You'll see people eating with their hands, sharing a communal plate to eat, and living in shacks, but they are happy because they know no different. Culture plays a significant role when it comes to advancements in ettiquite, as well as availability of resources. Those with little resources seek to survive, and don't worry about what others have or think about them. When you're in a whole community of these types, it's hard to see differences outside of your paradigm. If you really wanna blow your mind, see how people from different countries go to the bathroom. There's a reason they only eat with their right hand.
