I dont think it was a great drive ( im a McLaren fan btw ) ricciardo is in the 3rd fastest car on the grid and struggled to pass cars that are considerably slower. Ricciardo needs to improve and quickly in the mclaren. Norris is showing him up.

@@placeholder2924 Portimao is a tough track and if you’re not confident in your car, this effects your racing A LOT. We clearly saw him become more comfortable throughout the race. Also fun fact: this is the first time he didn’t qualify in front of Lando this season.
He had the same issue with Renault, but Renault fixed their brake setup very quickly for him. Hopefully McLaren will do the same, so we see some spicy 2017 Danny moves
As noted in some of the other comments, part of his struggles with his new drive is in the braking points. But his overtake on Vettel at 2:08 was vintage last-of-the-late-brakers Ricciardo, and I’m looking forward to what he can really do with that car once he knows it like the back of his hand.

As a McLaren fan it wasnt fun seeing carlos sainz get his strategies messed up, meanwhile watching Daniel's charge through the field made my day

Its only his 3rd race in the car, of course he'd be nervous in it still. I think he'll really come alive in the last 1/3 of the calendar.

That’s why he was struggling in qualifying, Portimao is a really tough track and you have to be confident with your braking, he just wasn’t.
