I always knew Todd was a phenom instrumentalist and singer, but remember listening to Heavy Metal Kids when it first came out and hearing the "I know I could make this world so peaceful and calm, if I could only get my hands on the hydrogen bomb" - at that moment I realized I was listening to one of the greatest rock lyricists on the planet. I am glad he still mixes it up and rocks out.

Todd backed by the Tubes at an SF street party in 1990. Got there at midnight left at 5:30 am and they hadn't taken a set break yet by the time we left!

@@jefffirnhaber6250 And how! A guy I played music with was at the bar across from our rehearsal/recording studio. He wanted to go score some coke at this guy's live/work loft warehouse. It was only a couple of blocks away. When we turned on to Folsom St. the whole block was blocked off and there were all kinds of people.

HELL YEAH! I had been a huge Todd fan since Something/Anything and a huge Tubes fan since their first album.
it was truly a magical night. Best Todd show that I ever saw as I did not see the original Utopia line up.

For anyone interested... "buncha other people" = Greg Hawkes (of The Cars) and Byron Allred (Steve Miller Band) on keys, both of whom have worked with TR prior to this. Hawkes is the one with the silver hair.

@@pat3834 Well he is a man of wonders, yes? A wizard, a true gem. I'm glad I got to see him in April 2019 when he was doing his Individualist tour in the Chicagoland region.

Always great stuff from Todd. I like the re-doing a classic album concept. Heavy Metal Kid tough to pull off for a sextagenerian. But he still rocks ! This whole band is excellent.
