    Sorry, this comment is meant to carry on my crusade for the recognition of Judas Priest "Nostradamus", the most absurdly underrated metal opera of all times, an album with elements from all Priest career from "Sad Wings" to "Painkiller", an amazing Halford and the addition of the great Don Airey. And yet there's some spell that for some reason prevent most of the fans to hear it for what really is. Such a shame.

    One of the best albums of all time. And one other thing I admire with Priest is, imo they're the band who screwed up the least during the late 90s. While Metallica was leaning more towards rock for a time, Maiden, Slayer, Black Sabbath, etc were putting up their worst albums ever, Megadeth had made some good stuff but was preparing Risk... Priest comes out with Jugulator. Underrated album, and Ripper Owens is a beast. Cathedral Spires, man. What a song.

      I HIGHLY disagree in the regard that this was an "underdog". Painkiller for me and my buddies (socialized as Teenagers in the later 2000's), the title-track definitely held up it's flag high as being the ABSOLUTE pinnacle of Heavy Metal. It ran on EVERY party we went and made ourselves at our homes, making our heads swing like crazy, air-guitar up, raving upon the solos and the stellar vocal performance and the MAD, PERFECT RAWNESS of the title-track.

    Depends on how you define metal. I mean, it was the peak for that style, along with Dehumanizer that came out around the same time, but to me the peak of metal itself is Hammer Smashed Face by Cannibal Corpse, or maybe Bleed by Meshuggah, or hasn't been written yet and we might be cheating ourselves by looking far in the past for the best when there's new bands starting out today that might do something even better.

    The bass thing is interesting because the AI isolated stem of it nearly sounds like a proper, picked bass tone, which is tough to believe unless you hear it yourself!
    This implies that they either final mixed Ian's bass louder or did some other mixing / mastering magic.

    • @AndriyVasylenko
      @AndriyVasylenko  Před 7 měsíci +3

      Maybe AI just can’t believe its cyber ears, and just amplifies the sounds it believes bass is supposed to be 😆

    • @PcMacsterRace
      @PcMacsterRace Před 7 měsíci +3

      It's possible that the isolated bass track we got from Rock Band 2 was not the actual bass track used in the studio recording. It could've been either an earlier version of the bass track, or maybe Ian's bass track was lost so they could only use the Moog bass track.
      Wouldn't be the first time it happened where the isolated tracks are different than the studio version: probably wouldn't get very far before someone mentioned the Acoustic guitar that's missing in the bridge section in Orion, Lars' third scream in Ride the Lighting not being present in the studio version, Death Magnetic being fully remixed for Guitar Hero 3, as well as other examples.

    • @thetk9622
      @thetk9622 Před 7 měsíci

      @@PcMacsterRace Yes that would also be my guess, that it is an earlier version of the track and Ian's recording was added later.

      Painkiller was literally the “savior” of metal in a way, as referenced in the lyrics.
      In the original video, from what I remember, before the drums start, there’s a bunch of kids in a car and they’re en route to see Priest but they’re in a traffic jam. So they just start head banging . Anyone else remember this , or am I getting Painkiller confused with another music video!!!???

  • @viniciusleaoa

    I remember the first time I heard Painkiller. I was COMPLETELY blown away by the drum intro, then the dive bomb and the riff came and I was like 🤯 "this may be the best song ever". But then came Rob's vocals and, at the time, I didn't like it at all hahahahaha I thought "man, what a shame a song THIS good has such shitty vocals". I was just starting to listening to metal, so I was still struggling with some of the styles of vocals. Thank God I kept listening to it. It's funny how I learned to apreciate the metal instrumentals despite not liking a lot of styles of vocals, like JP, Megadeth, harsh vocals, A7X, and with time we actually end up loving some of them. Metal is one of the best ecamples of "aqquired taste" 🤘

The sound is weird that’s true, however the midi picking sound sounds pretty sinister and robotic, and it doesn’t ruin the song at all, it work excellent with drums and guitars and makes it an actual fundament to the song, which is crazy and full of nuances. Could it be better? Yes. Should it be? Absolutely no
