The time has come my friends. We have all been waiting for Halo 5 for 3 years now. I don't want to give any of the story away in the description and ruin it for those who plan on watching or playing first, but what I will say is that Halo 5 is a game worth buying. I personally enjoyed the story very much, but I can also see where so hardcore Halo fans will be turned away. The sounds and visuals are top notch and mindblowing, The cutscenes themselves are like watching a Hollywood movie. But let us know what you think in the comments below and we can discuss this bad boy.

Some of the gameplay could be better in my opinion. More cinematic like to match the dialogue being spoken during gameplay.
But, it's also true that whomever gets the first average quality or above video out gets the most views and fame.
We got our right to upload videos over 15 minutes back! We already uploaded this on GLPtv, but we know that a lot of you aren't even aware of what's been going on with the channel, so we thought it'd be good to re-upload here! By the live action trailers, you can tell 343i had some great ideas, but sadly they didnt know what to do with them
They all just decided to throw in all that they've got!
That’s the sad part with the new Halo Games. The writing has such great potential and you can totally see what they’re trying to throw down and you can think of so many ways it could have been pulled off to great effect, but the follow through and execution is so mediocre because 343 Industries is so focused on quick generation of profit.
I think the writing and project managment from 343 games has been terrible. They've really lost the essence of what made Halo great games when I was a kid. The whole Spartan ops thing is maybe the biggest blunder. But the way they tell melodramatic political stories is so far removed from the tone of CE, Reach and everything in between.

It's actually been inferred by a few of us that she was affected by the flood/precursor Logic Plague that was used during the Flood/Forerunner war. This same Plague turned many Forerunner AI and even infected the Ur-Didact.
It is quite possible that the Plague was present within the Domain and infected Cortana while she was being 'treated' for Rampancy.
In the Halo Wiki it states that the between Halo 2 and 3 the Gravemind was attempting to corrupt Cortana with mass data dumps, but she was rescued before the process was completed, but it shortened her life by at least a year.
Go read up on the Logic Plague.
Spartan111MS I'm aware of the logic plague, that could certainly be a part .But it doesn't explain why their lines are so similar, all that luminous sun crap. Unless it's just artistic licence to show the similarities between what Cortana wants and what the Forerunners wanted with the Mantle. But if it's not, I think the Didact's questionable "end" in Escalation has something to do with it and somehow his composed mind is affecting hers.

But after she was taken by an evil Hydra scientist, experimented on and torn apart, she became evil, even repeated some of his lines. She became the villain, and had to be killed to save everyone.
and she had to be killed by the same man who loved her most in the world. because he knew what she was going through, and he cared for the greater good.

For all the flaws this story has, I do feel bad when I hear Evelyn over the comm, asking if she’s the only one left. Her voice actress did a decent job portraying the terrified and despairing tone.
It was rather devastating realizing that Fireteam Osiris wasn't going to do anything and just let her die, made me tear up a bit.

I just realized that this reclaimer saga is just like season 2 of Green Lantern: The Animated series where a A.I that's originally on the good side takes on the big bad, wins, then becomes the bad guy by taking power for themselves in misguided sense of peace, and then is taken out by their lover/allies through a pain when the A.I hurts them and changes its ways. I'm just hoping halo won't go down the predictable road.
Guess we'll find out when we learn more about Halo Infinite.

I dont think I can rename a single level in Halo 5 that Id want to play again. The Halo games of Reach and before that just had...so much replayability to them. They all felt unique and they all had something going for them. I remember playing lots of Halo 2, Halo 3 and Reach levels over and over because they were fun...but here?

Hey, for what it's worth, I just wanted to sincerely thank you for putting this up.
-I have been essentially homeless for 4 years, due to an untreated and severe nerve injury, corrupt lawyers who I found out were stealing from me, and a vicious insurance agent breaking new ground in ways to be inhumane when it comes to denying treatment on a Well-documented injury - which has kept me from my life as a working musician, as well as being able to enjoy and experience the Halo Universe. -On top of all that, I design and (used) to build custom loudspeakers and my set-up consisted of a pair of those, as well as an Epson Projector that allowed for a 9 ft Diagonal image displayed on my prepped wall. (so, Much appreciate the HD options and good sound :)
Seriously, I have been missing this very much, and though I can't play it, I can finally remember experiencing this for myself. -It's actually been quite therapeutic, and Truly wanted to thank you for it.

The Spartan program has really come a long way since The Fall of Reach. Went from crude powered exosuits to literal Iron Man armored units.
The fall of reach, they had Mjolnir Mark V's and SPY (basically super ODST armor) not rickety security exoskeletons like Marathon or the Colonial Insurrection where the Spartans had Mark II's.

John expressed a distrust in Cortana, so Cortana would be questioning if she can trust John, even though they do trust each other. But the Warden is making things difficult between them. The Warden has more power than both Cortana and John know. They are fortunate the Warden has vowed to protect Cortana. Cortana is probably also hoping that John can destroy the Warden because she knows that it is the Warden who will not be swayed.

Remember when the music was so epic you would sometimes just re-load the last checkpoint? Remember when the plot was on point? Remember when Halo meant split-screen?
Do you remember when Halo was good? I do, and it brings tears to my eyes to watch this butchery. This is what happens when 12 year olds dominate the market, when sales get in the way, when games are made out of profit, instead of passion.
For fuck's sake, this is why I sold my Xbox 360 to build a gaming PC.

The PISTOL was basically the best weapon in the game. Unless you had a REALLY good reason to do otherwise, you always carried it as one of your weapons. And what do you mean about Hunters and "actually do something smart"? They were EASIEST to kill in Halo 1...BECAUSE OF HOW GOOD THE PISTOL WAS.
Seriously, I've played Halo since the start. I get that it's hipster to rag on all modern stuff, and I often agree - I even partially agree here in that MOST of Halo 5 was kinda bleg.
...like, seriously, I hated "Spartan Powers" and "Spartan charge all these random walls to get nothing (one or two have hidden weapon caches, but most of them are either (a) meaningless or (b) just to continue the level, which MAKES THEM (a) meaningless)", "scramble"(climb walls - which on the one hand I like, but on the other, it's practically cartoonish...)
...yet the overall plot of Halo 5 wasn't that bad, it was just WAAAAAY too short (like, it's not even half the length of a legacy Halo game's campaign). I liked Meridian, for example, and there was some good world-building letting us go there and, to a point, Sanghilios...
...but a lot of the pacing was bleh, and the stupid subplot of "Capture the Master Chief! He's gone AWOL!"(as if the dude hasn't done enough to be allowed to retire at this point with highest honors) was inane. The "Agent Locke hunting Master Chief" plot idea wasn't even a good idea to start with, but the execution was absolutely not there.

Halo 5 did some decent world-building, had okay music, and had a plot that kind of bridges the gap, connecting Halo 4 and Halo Wars 2 to Halo 6, so it will have done its part.
Oh yes, I expect a lot more from Halo 6 (or Halo 6 will be my last ever Halo to play...), but Halo 5, while the black sheep of the family to be sure, is not a total garbage pile. I've seen and played much worse, and I found it annoying but not abjectly bad.

AI's like Cortana all have a fail safe that immediately destroys them. However, Cortana was... Overbuilt. I can't remember exactly how long it took, but she removed her kill command all by herself. The only person who knew this, of course, was Halsey. When Cortana was created she was loaded with the most complicated hacking programs the UNSC had available, and she upgraded them. Short of the Spartan II program and Mjlonir Armor systems, she's one of the most dangerous things Humanity has ever created, even before the events of Halo 1.
I mean UNSC smart AIs, the only AIs with the actual ability to revolt, only have a 7-year lifespan. So 7 years of tyranny until everything is back to normal.
But honestly no one thought about this before because the idea of a dumb Matrix/Terminator AI/Robot uprising is cliche at least and boring at best.

I’ll never forget playing this for the first time, getting to the moment @1:01:00, the guardian is about to teleport, shock waves are causing havoc and then…it just slips away and scene fades to black?! A huge rule of storytelling is “show don’t tell” but 343 did w lot of the opposite in this game. They named the game guardians but it feels like they have no impact other than looking cool. We only hear about the destruction they cause other than a quick scene where a building is falling apart. We hear about AIs pledging allegiance to Cortana but we don’t see the impact of it. They tell us about tension between Locke and Chief but we only get one unplayable fight scene.
There were some great ideas for this game but the execution was horrible.
I disagree regarding the Guardians having no impact. Their presence is ominous and threatening from the moment they become activated, and ultimately they serve a big part of the 'mystery' element of Halo's story. As the game proceeds you see that they can slip space quickly, they they have destructive shockwave capabilities, that there are a huge amount of these constructs, and the Cortana has activated loads of them for her cause. This builds to a huge moment where Cortana's Guardian releases a huge EMP on Earth, which is a huge show of force and threat; killing untold amounts of people. The Guardians are a gradual build up in Halo 5, but by the end of the game their impact on the galaxy is pretty clear I feel.
The fallout of Cortana, The Created and the Guardians taking over should have been explored in the sequel. That would have been the ideal way for things to go forward, as Halo 5 was an introduction to the faction. Instead we go Infinite.
I agree regarding Chief and Locke. There was no real conflict or tension there, a wasted opportunity I guess.
I never fully understood why Cortana was doing this. I kind of get the gist but I'm still confused as to how she expects this plan of hers to work. And I wanna know how she's still alive. I get that she was sort of absorbed into the system after the Diedacts defeat, but she's a very unique AI. I'd like to know the specifics of how she's still around and why she's getting extreme with her methods of universal peace.
I remember in halo 4 she mention she purged parts of herself to stop the forerunner weapon all some of which have gone crazy.
Hearing Blue team referring to MC as "Chief" and not by his real name just feels...wrong.
Buck throwing out that reference to New Alexandria made me sad again.

I dunno if you were making a joke, but I am actually interested in the Reclaimer trilogy, more than in the original one.
This one is actually the dark and sinister Halo I was told by my friends the original trilogy was.
They killed Cortana, made her a villain, who knows what will happen in Halo 6
so uhmmm the flood taking over life as we know it. and us losing our birthright (Earth) wasn't dark and sinister. look up the books if the original wasn't enough. Earth was to be assaulted by 500 covenant ships (many carriers, super carriers and a station the size of a moon with shield strength to match) when chief was returning to earth buddy.
Tavian Armstrong Meanwhile Chief jumps out the UNSC cairo and said the lines 'Bringing back their bomb'' as he jumped into space, guided the bomb to gun fire, dropped it at a covenant ship, fell to earth, had a few scratches, woke up, kicked covenant ass two minutes later.

I read the books, its more dark and sinister than the actual Halo 1 - 3 games. Ghost of Onyx for example, when Kurt saw video footage of his spartans dying in battle while they were surrounded by several covenant forces, three survivors, two of them carried the third when Kurt saw no vital signs. Dead, the other two shortly followed after while dying in battle.
THAT is dark and sinister. Reach was dark and sinister, you are part of a squad, which tries to defend the planet with their lives, dying one after another, failing. You see the covenant launching an attack on civilians, sure it's scripted af but still its something I didnt see in any of the three original games, even Halo 3:ODST was completely empty, not even stragglers, complete empty with only police/military casualties.
Idk about your definition, but dark and sinister is like the books, or like Reach, not where Chief jumps out of space through a cross fire of space ships, dropping the bomb on time, crashes to earth, standing up with a few scratches and kicking covenant ass two minutes later.
Imo, dark and sinister in Halo is when a battalion of canon fodder attacks with 300 spartans and losses everything, and when the one in command of said battalion, watched them dying in the fight. Dark and sinister is when your whole squad knows its a lost fight but still give their lives to continue fighting, even though the planet is lost.
Halo 6 can go ANY way now. In halo 2 and 3 I knew the whole time 'This is going to end good either way.
In Halo 4 they killed Cortana, in Halo 5 she is the villian, who knows what happens in Halo 6.
BattlePro3 oh hell no i wasn't talking about 2 or 3. Only Reach, 1, and ODST had a grim outlook. halo 6 will involve the spirit of fire saving our asses in halo wars 2 since they are at the ark and what not.

Man….you’re either super young or a dedicated fan. This is something you rarely hear from fans. While H5 is far from my favorite, I still recognize it’s importance in the grande scheme of things.

All of the Halo games are amazing including this one lol I try to see from the point of view from people who are complaining and I don't see how this story is poorly written. It's actually pretty impactful how the story has progressed to this masterpiece. I've played all Halo games and they all fit their purpose to the next one or a previous one. Thanks for uploading these videos it's very helpful when you want to revisit the lore.
Darkseid Omega Same I freaking love each Halo game. One might think the “majority” hates Halo 4 and 5 but it’s not true. It’s just that negativity and complaints leads people to post online and make the people like you and me that love these games scared to appreciate it. The internet has always been like this for some reason. In real life I always see people who love stuff that the “majority” of people on the internet dislike/hate. It’s just a mob mentality some people have.

The difference between 343 Halo and Bungie Halo is the difference between Pacific Rim and Pacific Rim 2. One is a passionate artistic endeavor and the other a commercial product complete with checkboxes and quotas to fill at every level. There's a specific demographic of people targeted here coupled with a desperate attempt to out do the original creators. No quiet moments. No humor. Just a cynical recreation of a great thing.
