  • Kia Sedona Minivan Could Be Renamed Carnival for 2022
Kia's minivan has always been called the Carnival globally but the Sedona in the U.S. market.
That may change with the new 2022 version, which will reportedly be called Carnival in America.
The 2022 Kia Carnival should go on sale on our shores by the end of the year.
It seems that the K5 (née Optima) won't be the only model in Kia's lineup to undergo a name change. Like that mid-size sedan, the Kia Sedona minivan may also adopt its global moniker, Carnival, when the redesigned model arrives in the U.S. for the 2022 model year. This is according to a NHTSA VIN decoder document posted on a Sedona forum. The Sedona nameplate has been on sale in the U.S. since the 2002 model year.
The document also shows a few key U.S. specifications that Kia has yet to confirm. The 2022 Kia Carnival will apparently offer LX, EX, and SX trim levels, and it will come standard with front-wheel drive and a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with 290 horsepower. The new fourth-generation van was revealed earlier this year with a far more modern design and a few SUV-esque styling cues such as prominent C-pillar trim and a reshaped center console inside.
We reached out to Kia for confirmation on the name change, and a spokesperson told us to "stay tuned." We should hear more about the U.S. version of the Carnival/Sedona within the next few months, as we expect it to go on sale in America by the end of the year.

Since you can easily remove the center seat and even turn it around or use as a table I don't really see a reason to get the 7 seater configuration the 8 seater is more versatile.

Where was this in the late 1980’s. My mother had a silver grey Dodge Grand Caravan. It was a good minivan. We had a Ford conversion van from the early 80’s with all of the brown and tan tones in it. That van was very good for a number of years. My sister slept in the back of the van with one cat. I sat in the 2nd row Captain chairs with the other cat in a chair next to me. My father did drove the van and my mother sat in front with him. It was liked that when we go on our vacations from Illinois to Wisconsin and even back home. I liked to sit behind the driver in that big van. I don’t know why that I did it. When I got older that I liked to sit the opposite side. I used my good knee in getting in the back that depends on the SUV.

Im missing something to divide the cargo area to seating area.. there should be some safety net available. Not everyone is using more than 5 seats, but when all 5 are in use, you ussualy go to some vacation with trunk full of things from the bottom to the roof. Than is a safety net a must, because it protects passangers from flying luggages while breaking or in an accident.

It's available for purchase. I just bought a 7 passenger carnival and I love it for my family of 6. In real life, I'm. Kt fiddling around with seats. I just wanted my kids to get in smoothly without assistance, teens comfortable in the middle and littles comfy in the back and they are! Even if my husband and I go on a trip a long distance, we can rest in those reclining seats.😊

So far I love the car, but don't listen to this "it's easily removable" BULLSHIT. The seats are like 60lb each and they will absolutely be a pain in the ass to remove, reinstall, position, you name it. There's nothing easy about it. And I'm 5'11" dude and in decent shape. If you think a women (like 95% of them anyway) is getting this shit out of the car you've lost your fucking mind.
All that aside, they *can* be removed and flipped around and whatever. But it's not quick or easy, and if course, you gotta store those seats inside (they might get nasty in the garage). My advice is to install them how you know they will be used 99% of the time and leave them be.

@@LehiTOTS there's another video on CZcams that explains how you can do it. Basically all they did to keep you from doing it was put a little piece of plastic in the railing. You can pop it out with the screwdriver and the seats will lock in place just like they do everywhere else. If you really want them backwards it's probably worth watching the video and doing it all in a total of 30 minutes.
