    Kid Congo's the realest punk rocker alive. He was then and still is today that enthusiastic kid who just loves making good music. Appreciate this man while he is still with us.

      i'm seeing him in 2 months with The Pink Monkey Birds. I saw on youtube that they also play a bit of Gun Club and Cramps covers so i'm really excited about that. Though their original music is also pretty good.

      @@thunder_heads Oh it was great. My friends cancelled on me but luckily I still decided to go alone. I'm 17 and it was my first real concert that I really wanted to go to.
      The music was great, although i just stood in the back. They did end up playing Goo Goo Muck, I'm Cramped, She's Like Heroin To Me and Sex Beat. The guitars were too quiet in my opinion but what do I know.
      They said goodbye, I thought "oh cool its over" then I go over to the merch stand to buy something to remember the gig by, then Kid Congo Powers, in his white suit and red cape, appears next to me searching for a pen,I look back and suddenly I'm first in line. Taking the plastic off of that CD so he could sign it was my single most stressful 30 seconds ever. It was very memorable to say the least, thanks for asking!
      I still sometimes stare with my mind blown at the photos that he's in with Lux and Ivy. The way i think of it is i'm ONE person away from meeting THEM. The delusion is real.

    I played with him about 5 years ago. His set was great, but the highlight of the evening was when he came into my band's dressing room and shot the shit with us for a half hour. He was hilarious and he could not sit still.

    The version I'd read was Kid threw a rock through Lux and Ivy's window to get their attention , but , I'm glad to hear that , no , Lux and Ivy approached him , and didn't even demand an audition , they knew he was their guy. " We acceot you , we accept you , one of us , one of us".

    • @Gentlem1
      @Gentlem1 Před 3 lety

      there should have been a ''p" not an "o" in "accept".

      @@Gentlem1 Common typing error since the o is next to the p on keyboard. Great "Freaks" quote!! Kid C has been accepted in so many great groups, The Bad Seeds, The Gun Club, The Cramps, as well as his own band. Just a top shelf musician and sweetheart of a guy. Even the president of a Ramones fan club way back in '76.

    He might not be as good at guitar if he cut off a finger

      To be fair, that's pretty much how the sound of heavy metal was created--Toni Iommi lost the tips of two of his fingers in an industrial accident, right before forming Black Sabbath with Ozzy, Bill, and Geezer.
