This was fun filming it. I hope you enjoy the lesson. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'm happy to answer.
Great lesson and inspire me too much!
luciodrum87 thanks ;) you‘re welcome
What heads do you have on your toms?
The black ones
@@eligraves5132 Top: Remo Black Suede Emperor. Bottom: Remo Diplomat coated
Thank you sooo much. I am 58 years old. I started drumming at 55, but have only been able to practice a grand total of 15 hours in the past 3 years. This is more manageable and fun. Much appreciated!
That‘s awesome Samuel. There are a lot of ways how you can practice even away from the kit. I hope www.artofdrumming.com gives you a home that guides you throughout your drumming journey. You already have a fan and a supporter in me. If you have any questions, let me know. Chris
Really nice one of the best drum yt channels
Amazing quality toooo
Thanks do much!
This IS my 2021 fill.
Sounds very versatile and functional. I could work on this for months to let it simmer and develop. Slowly and deliberately. Thanks!
thanks Kevin!
This channel has become my favourite channels for improving on the drums. Keep it up!
Thanks a lot!
Great to hear that! 🥳
@@ArtOfDrumming honestly I watch your videos more than Drumeo 😂
Say what you want but the educational drum videos of the German drummers are always spot on.
Thanks 🙏 Bob! German engineering maybe 🤔😉
This is like Drumeo but they just like the artist teach. It’s a cool concept and it seems to work well!
Thanks so much !
This is something new to me. The idea of making such fills is really unique. Awesome. !!
Thanks 🙏
Drumming for visual learners, excellent idea thanks for sharing.
Thank you :)
Nice channel with different 👌concepts.
Very easy to follow!🎶
+Walter Harley thanks 🙏
Particularly with the first fill-in example, you could also move the "extra" bass drum note from the end to the beginning.
Buddy! Jackpot!!! That‘s so cool if you take these concepts further and make them your own 😊 Your comment is one of the best things I could wish for as an educator. It really shows the beauty and the potential of why we‘re putting effort in our videos. I‘m excited to hear what you come up with.
This is gonna b fun. Thanks
This is also gonna a fun and c fun 😉
Awesome! Last one was probably my favorite.
thank you Josh :)
This is a super cool way to create fills throughout a song that feel different but stick in a similar vibe. Really useful. Thank You.
You‘re welcome Michael. Means a lot. Thank you 🙏🏼
Glad you like it!
Such a great idea 🙂 Thanks 😊
😃
Great lesson!!!!!
Thanks!
I was waitting for the ACAB fill
This is really great! I’m going to do some cards up with the fills and do this with my students! I like the way you can take simple rhythmic ideas and orchestrate them around the kit to make cool musical phrases! Thanks for some great ideas and my students will love this. It’s all about fun in the end!
Awesome to hear that you are going to take this idea to your own students!
The best about this concept is that you can use whatever figures you want. So from quite easy to very advanced stickings you can use this idea for every level.
And I totally agree: it‘s always about having fun!
Have fun making this idea your own! :)
well chosen figures a b c ! they sound great, mix perfect and can be played fast after (relativ) short time of practice . really well done !!
Danke dir Andreas!
Alter!!!! Chris you are my new teacher
At least online 😉
Julian! 🙏🏼
Yes.

Thanks 🙏 Ewen!
EXCELENTE VIDEO, SALUDOS DESDE MEXICO, MAS VIDEOS DE ESTE TIPO ABC...
What the great kerope ride!
Yes I love it :)

Noted!
Another great video and very well explained! I'm curious.., this snare is a supraphonic?
Thank you. It‘s a Ludwig Acrolite :)
It's very very nice
Thank you for CONCEPT, but
I can have the music link, please
🙏
Was waiting for you to draw an ACAB 😅
Would make a great triplet fill though 😄
This is such a weird question but does anyone know that intro song he was playing to? I really liked it and I wanna drum to it now 😂
The Loop Chris uses in this lesson can be purchased at Adam Tuminaro's website and is included in his R&B Loop Pack.
What's the snare drum your using need to get one, love the tone
Thanks Mark. It‘s a Ludwig Acrolite 😊
What is that background track?! Very nice
The Loop Chris uses in this lesson I can be purchased at Adam Tuminaro's website and is included in his R&B Loop Pack.
Awesome video ; wich microphones are you using ??
All beyerdynamic
cool
Very solid drum set sound. Can you explain how to tune drum set this way and what drumheads do you use?
Thank you first of all.
Toms: Remo Emperor Black Suede with Coated Diplomat as Reso Heads.
Reso Head tuned higher than Batter Head.
Bass Drum: Power Stroke 3
Snare Drum: Coated Ambassador. Reso and Batter Head tuned very high :)
Hope that helps :)
Chris
@@ChrisHoffmannTube thank you. Bass drum power stroke 3 on both sides?
@@fractallightx In this video I used a regular DW Factory Reso Head that came with the kit.
I just swapped that Bass Drum Reso Head the other day with a Remo Fiberskyn Ambassor. And I think it does the job even better with the sound I'm going for. I can really recommend the Fiberskyn.
@@ChrisHoffmannTube Nice. Can I ask one last question please? :) Does the snare wires really matter? I think Puresound custom pro steel 24 is the one of the best options. What do you think?
@@fractallightx You can ask as many questions as you want :)
It also came to my ears that Puresound are making great snare wires. Honestly I never tried one so far but I definitely want to give it a try in the future.
The snare wires though are probably the least important aspect of the snare sound. The player's touch of hitting the drum and the skillset of tuning the Snare Drum in different ranges and adjusting the snare wires tension accordingly is more important than the snare wires itself. But if you get the chance I think you should give Puresound a try to let me know which one I should buy :D
Song?
Whats the music track title ?
The Loop Chris uses in this lesson can be purchased at Adam Tuminaro's website and is included in his R&B Loop Pack.
Hey! Just wanna ask what is the size of your kick drum? Is it 22 or 20?
Hi Isaac. It‘s a 20“ Bass Drum 😊
WWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWO tnksss
What cymbals are those?
The one on the right is a 19“ K constantinople crash ride. The ride is 22“ Kerope and the crash on the left is a 19“ cluster crash. 14“ K constantinople Hi-Hats.
The left splash is actually a stack made of a 10“ A custom efx, a 10“ spiral stacker and a 10“ K custom special dry splash on top. The Splash is a 8“ Splash by Symrna.
Hope that helps :)
Chris
WOW, that crash on the far right, what is it?
Hello Calleb, here you go: zildjian.com/cymbals/browse-by-type/crash-ride/19-k-constantinople-crash-ride.html
Guys when you started to show the concept at sticking "A" he played triplets and showed sixteenth notes on the notation... Can be confusing for people. Anyway it was a great lesson.
You're a totally right. thanks.
First "let it be" (letter b)🤣
😂
Surely this is the The ABC Fill-In Concept ?
What about d??
Check out the full course on artofdrumming.com. He goes further into detail and adds letter d and e there 😄
@@ArtOfDrumming sorry why you play rudument not rthym??
@@glenfordballon8060 Good question. I personally don't think in Rudiments when playing fills.
For this lesson I just filled the space of a 3note grouping with useful stickings.
This is just one fill concept of many.
I also did a course and a youtube lesson using the grouping concept of 3s and 2s on this youtube channel.
You can check this out if you're into creating rhythms.
czcams.com/video/ael7H4FUqaA/video.html
Hope that helps :) Chris
@@ChrisHoffmannTube sorry...they going me to pay??i ask how to use your fill??for the band??😅
@@glenfordballon8060 I'm not sure if I understand your question.
You don't have to pay for www.artofdrumming.com It's free.
I also talk about the musical application aspect there.
Cymbals?!?!
No good shots of the cymbal to the far right (likely another similar ride), or the splashes. But the ride is from the Zildjian Kerope line (21 or 22 maybe?), the crash is a Zildjian k cluster crash (17-19 probably), and the hi hats look like the Constantinople series (likely 14s). Hope that helped at all
@@Circadianarrhythmia 22 kerope....... there is no 21 kerope......(would like to have one!). Cluster crash should be a 18..........
The one on the right is a 19“ K constantinople crash ride. The ride is 22“ Kerope and the crash on the left is a 19“ cluster crash. You also got the Hihat right. 14“ K constantinople hats. 👍🏻
The left splash is actually a stack made of a 10“ A custom efx, a 10“ spiral stacker and a 10“ K custom special dry splash on top.
The second splash is his own and I don‘t know the exact model, sorry. Maybe Chris himself can answer this one ;)
ArtOfDrumming The Splash is a 8“ Splash by Symrna. I don‘t know the exact model & series. Sorry. Those Zildjian Cymbals are superb!
