You can try Google assistant or Siri Or a remote shatter app. A bluetooth shatter button is inxpensive too.

Yes you can't use the original app and the button. If I was the Gimbal designer I would implement this as a gesture and not as a real remote. I guess they can still do it with a software update without making any technical chance in the Gimbal. Write a email to funsnap maybe they will take the challenge of making that.
People love software updates making their product better even after buying it.

Place it on a perfectly leveled platform. Place the phone and then activate the calibration in the app Menu. Make sure that your phone weight is less than 260g remove heavy case or lens.
