    🇴🇲 SALALAH, OMAN - In this vlog I take you with me to explore Salalah city - the streets, the stunning white beaches and the plantations. And I'll show you where to drink the best coconut water in town.
    But first, see how I do the laundry in my Omani house.

    WHO AM I?
    In 1999 I volunteered in an orphanage in Kenya and it changed my life. I then worked in Albania with unprivileged girls and kids for 3 years. I came back to Italy and started teaching at primary school but I wasn't happy.
    So in 2010 I took the decision to follow my passion, not my pension. I first volunteered in Cambodia for a year, then opened a blog and travelled around South East Asia, China, Iran and Oman, always showing the lives of real locals, away from the tourist spots.
    My goal - my mission in life - has always been to inspire people to be brave, follow their passion, open their minds and discover the kindness of other people and cultures.

    Salalah has nothing special to see, but it is the city that is special in itself, for the relaxing and peaceful atmosphere, for the feeling of calm it transmits to every visitor.

    I have just got back from Salalah last week and I'll say the city isn't great but the beaches Al Haffa and Ad-Dahariz are amazing tropical beaches and I did love the Sultan Qaboos Masjid as well. But the surrounding areas of Salalah (Eastern and Western Tours) are amazing. And you have to do the desert safari - it was brilliant

      Dahariz beach is my favourite, Taqah beach is also amazing and still unspoiled. Another wonderful beach is Al Fazayah, located a few km far from Al Mighsayl. I’ve been many times in the Rub Al Khali (I work here), to me it’s the best place where to detox from daily life

      @@toohappytobehomesick I did visit Dahariz Beach which was nice and did both Al Fazayah and al Mughsail beaches for the Western Salalah tour. I went to Taqah and Al Haffa beaches on my eastern Salalah tour which included Wadi Darbat, Jebel Semhan and Sinkhole

    You have a nice villa but its isolated and very minimal... in Salalah city there is lots of mire modern, more convenient and less isolated apartments and villas available to rent.

    I saw a lot of video about "beautiful beaches" but nobady swam there. Is the sea is dangerous?

    • @toohappytobehomesick
      @toohappytobehomesick  Před 10 měsíci

      It’s not dangerous, but since it’s a Muslim country, when the beach is near the village/town, people usually do not swim there to respect the local culture. But there are some areas where people can swim (I mean for the swimming costume)

    • @greenleaf8226
      @greenleaf8226 Před 9 měsíci

      in salalah you can swim at any beach that belongs to a hotel...
      there are plenty 4 and 5star hotels in Salalah.

    • @toohappytobehomesick
      @toohappytobehomesick  Před 2 měsíci

      I recommend a full day visit East and West Salalah: Al Mughsayl, Fazayah Beach on the west, then go east for Wadi Dharbat and end the day in Taqah watching the sunset up the cliff overlooking the long beach. You can visit Salalah the second day in the morning - the Sultan Qaboos Mosque, the plantations, Dahariz beach, Al Haffa souq where to buy the frankincense
