Prayers for you my friend. This is something we have to work on daily for the rest of our lives until we see our Lord. Sanctification is a life long work thru the Holy Spirit. I know it’s not easy to obey the Lord sometimes in this world, but continued reading of Gods word and prayer will help us to know God in a personal way and one day we can defeat it. We can’t do it alone but God still wants us to make our choices. It’s a good thing to feel bad when we sin. It’s when we stop feeling bad is when we should worry.

Another masterful expository teaching by Pastor John Mc Arthur. My takeaway from this that all Christians must partner with the Holy Spirit at all times to put to death our sin nature. We must be absolutely ruthless and uncompromising in our daily battle against the remanent of sin in our bodies. We have overwhelming victory over our sin nature and our sin through Christ Jesus. The flesh is continuously hostile against God, but all praise be to our Heavenly Father God through Christ Jesus in unity with The Holy Spirit, for we who live by the power of the Holy Spirit live in victory over sin. All our sin was nailed to the cross on that faithful day almost 2000 years ago when our Saviour and King publicly shamed Satan and his fallen angels, and gave us eternal victory over sin in Him.

@@T.Ravikumar You have an interesting perspective on quantifying a Christians relationship with the Holy Spirit.
I believe Holy Scripture provides a number of valid answers and guidelines to help us in our understanding of the profound Spiritual truths of how we must be born again of the Spirit (John 3:3) to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Romans Chapter 8 presents a very comprehensive teaching on the work of the Holy Spirit in us. God chooses those to whom He will show mercy (Exodus 33:19 & Rom 9:15). God chooses those whom He wants to adopt as His own (John 17:2 & 17:6) through His Son Christ Jesus. Acts 5:1-11 is a demonstration of how the Holy Spirit searches the hearts of all people and knows their hearts and minds. God is all knowing and all powerful. God lives outside of time because He is from everlasting to everlasting, He has no beginning and He has no end. In the beginning, God created all matter, space and time, because, as the Creator, God alone existed before the beginning of creation.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.”
      ‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:28-30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
God is Holy and Righteous. All sinners deserve to die for their sin, but God shows His mercy to those whom He saves through His Son Christ Jesus. God has no obligation to show mercy to any sinner, for neither God’s Holiness nor His perfect righteousness require Him to show mercy to sinners. In fact, Gods righteousness gives Him the right to judge us (for all have sinned and fall short of the righteousness of God) and to condemn us to death. Hence, God’s grace is the unmerited favour He extends to the sinner through Christ Jesus, in unity with the Holy Spirit. This is the love of God in action, for God is love (1John 4:16). We see that our salvation is by the grace of God alone, by faith alone, in Christ Jesus alone. Our adoption is sealed by the Holy Spirit whom God sends to live in those whom He has chosen. A Christian has to continually fight against the desires of the flesh, for “the mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.” (Rom 8:7). The Holy Spirit continually teaches us and guides us in our daily lives so that we may live in the Spirit and not in the flesh.
Jesus told us, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭6:63‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
The author of Hebrews told us, “For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified. But the Holy Spirit also witnesses to us; for after He had said before, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,” then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.””
      ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:14-17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
We were perfected by the one sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross, now we are being sanctified in our daily lives as we walk in Spirit and in truth, renewing our minds in the Spirit.

Let me give in to your argument of election & predestination. So my salvation is secure. Right? So why would I have to continually fight against the desires of the flesh?
Is God who's sovereign & all powerful, who's elected me (leaving aside the rest) & taken me into His Salvation, incompetent to prevent my flesh from ruling me (me, who has now become His child & His abode)?
      Secondly, what is this prophecy?
      🔸Ezekiel 36
      (25) I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will cleanse you from all your filthiness, and from all your idols.
      (26) I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.
      (27) I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes. You will keep my ordinances and do them.
This whole prophecy is an "I WILL" prophecy. There's no mention that of my cooperation here?
      Please think about this truth:
The Gospel is for all mankind (1John 2:2).
From this "world", he who is convicted by the Holy Spirit (John 6:8) & accepts his inability at self-righteousness & decides to believe the Gospel & place his/her trust in the finished work of atonement through Jesus Christ will be saved (John 3:16, Heb 6:1).
The Holy Spirit of God who indwells these born-again children of God, takes the responsibility of guiding them in the way of the Lord (towards sanctification) until the Day of the Lord (Ezeb36:27).
He doesn't come inside His children just to enjoy a vacation in them. He's there with a purpose & the purpose is to secure them till the coming of the Lord.
Infact, Jesus was clear about who should make the decision to accept the Gospel that'll be preached to the whole world:
      Mark 16:15,16
      (15) “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to the WHOLE WORLD.
      (16) He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who refuses to believe will be condemned.

@@T.Ravikumar Thank you for your thoughtful response Ravikumar.
According to Holy Scripture, Moses asked God a similar question during the time of the Exodus.“And you shall be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine.”
      ‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭20:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Secondly, I believe Jesus was directing Nicodemus to Ezekiel 36, when He said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’”
      ‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Finally, we have the Holy Spirit inspired writings of the Apostle Paul who encourages us to run this race and to discipline our flesh so that we may say “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” (2Tim 4:7)

This is why Once-Saved Always-Saved soteriology is wrong. "The remaining sin in our lives": If its not killed, "the soul that sins shall die." "Without holiness, no one will see Yahuwah. John Mac Arthur pointed this out in various texts he quoted, in his sermon, though he would state one was never redeemed to begin with should they not gain the victory over sin. I contend that true believers can sin terribly. And should they not repent and forsake their sins, the Blood of Yehusha will not cleanse us. Thats why there is a big IF in 1 John 1:9-10. The Parables of Yehusha indicate that should we not abide in the Vine, we will be cut off. I speak this as a warning to myself and all of us. This is not a works salvation. Its an indication that we are continuing to abide in genuine faith which works itself out with fear and trembling. .Like leprosy or leven in bread, it will spread and infect the whole body.Thats why it says the soul that sins shall die. David repented, Saul did not. David and Saul had the Spirit, Saul lost the Ruach and eventually became demonized and murdered himself.

These journals reveal a lot, one thing in particular that was especially incredible is the writings that speak of these Jews in passing, they knew that they were Jews in some instances above and still used them as slaves. How could a prominent slave port sit on the Slave Coast of Africa and them not realize it was sitting on the coast of the Kingdom of Judah?
    (Genesis15;13-15 {400 hundred years1619-2019}
    13 And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;
14 And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.
15 And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.
    Acts 7;6-7 {400 hundred years1619-2019}
6 And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.
7 And the nation to whom they shall be in bondage will I judge, said God: and after that shall they come forth, and serve me in this place.
So many of these slave ships knowingly took Jewish (Hebrews) slaves into the Americas to be tortured, literally worked to death and worst of all, separated from each other and all the while many of their perpetrators claiming to be Christian. All those whose ancestors were taken on slave ships to be in the Americas and the West Indies were exiled Hebrews from the House of Judah. They were hiding in Africa among the Africans and were taken prisoners into this “new Egypt.” No wonder we are still murdered in the streets by law enforcement with no consequences from our judicial system,
(Zachariah 11;5 Whose possessors slay them, and hold themselves not guilty: and they that sell them say, Blessed be the Lord; for I am rich: and their own shepherds pity them not.
6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the Lord: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver them..)no wonder our communities are starved off financially and our schools are lacking in all aspects, no wonder our heritage and history is not taught in schools and we are forced to pass on what we know of ourselves via word of mouth from generation to generation. No wonder we are hated and despised and people are repulsed by us and yet ready to steal our very identity, ready to use us for their own greed and for their own entertainment! This is why they do not listen to us when we try and explain our experiences through our movies, through our music and arts; this is why our voices fall on deaf ears and this is why we are shushed even when we silently kneel in protest of our injustices. And yet as disgusted as people are with us,(Jesus)YAHUSHA honors us when He was born among us with His dark skin and woolly hair. Yah brought His Son up from David’s line: the Lion of the tribe of Judah! (Genesis49;9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be (Jesus)YAHUSHA HAMASHIACH.! To my Hebrew brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers, take heart and have courage, we are under the curses mentioned above because we were disobedient but they will not last forever: 5 Take courage, my people, who perpetuate Israel’s name!
6 It was not for destruction that you were sold to the nations, but you were handed over to
your enemies because you angered YAH.
7 For you provoked the one who made you by sacrificing to demons and not to YAH. -
    Baruch 4:5-7
And then later in the same chapter:
21 Take courage, my children, cry to YAH,and he will deliver you from the power and hand of the enemy. 22 For I have put my hope in the Everlasting to save you,and joy has come to me from the Holy One,because of the mercy that will soon come to you from your everlasting

There is no question about it that these tribes were the remanent giant clans, their corrupted genetics part of the reason they were to be completely exterminated from the land. I dunno why pastors, even the greats like JMac shy away from this fact, The Bible is very clear about who and what they were, just because modern "science" says they didnt exist. Youde think every Christian would have figured out by now the "science" of man is full of lies, a lot of which exist out of hatred for God and his Word.

I'm unable to understand MacArthur when he says
"Stop lusting". What happens to 'Sola Deo gloria'? If I stop lusting, won't I get the glory for my freedom from lust?
Calvin says that I can't even chose the believe the Gospel, that it's already been decided who's the elect. If when I was unsaved, before I'm even indwelled by the Holy Spirit, it's God's election that works & I have no role to play in my decision to place my trust on the Messiah, why wouldn't my victory over lust be the result SOLELY of the Holy Spirit anointing living inside me? Why would I even have to partner with God living in me to kill sin in my life? Afterall HE was the one who has elected & saved me.

Perhaps you really haven't understood what Calvin proposed & what MacArthur reinforces.
They believe, man is incapable of making the decision to believe the Gospel. They believe God has already decided (elected) whom He is going to save & whom He is not going to, so there's no point in man making any effort to accept Christ as his Savior.
Because they believe if man could decide whether to accept or reject the Gospel, then it'll appear that man has become powerful.
In that context if man is dependent on God to even make the decision to repent & believe in Jesus Christ, how could MacArthur say that man has to overcome sin (hacking Agag) ? Infact isn't that the most impossible task for man? Isn't that what he needs absolute (💯%) divine favour? Infact God resides in His child as the HolySpirit of God for that very purpose, because the Old Testament is proof that we cannot 'hack Agag'. Infact if we had the power to 'hack Agag' in each of our lives, we could actually redeem ourselves, without the help of the Savior.

But our choice to listen, believe, and want to do better (even failing), is free will.
I dont disagree with you re: needing God’s help.. but I don’t interpret the “hacking agag” metaphor so literally. It’s not that we can remove sin ourselves, it’s that we should endeavor to make better choices according to God’s will.
