- Republican Representative Lauren Boebert was attacked for being a "fake Christian" this week after she launched an attack on a charity in Colorado that helps unhoused migrants get shelter. Boebert loves to claim that she is a Christian, but when it comes to following any part of the Bible or the teachings of Jesus, she consistently falls flat - and now she's facing the wrath of her constituents for her fake piety. I’m getting so sick of hearing the word, “Christian”. Especially in the context of politics.
This is the one good thing about all of this Christian hypocrisy. It is going to stop a lot of people with their reverence for anyone who shouts 'I'm a Christian'. I'm much more interested in who is a decent human being. Not a pole-hanging groper (Boebert), congressional bully and troublemaker (Greene), pedophile (Gates), or sexual abuser enabler (Jordan). Actions speak louder than words.
The sooner humanity can evolve beyond the stupidity of religions the better.
Tax all religious institutions. The Special tax exemption "the churches" (synagogues/temples, etc) enjoy *is* an Establishment of Religion by preferential treatment.
Religious institutions also receive preferential treatment under law, by legally evading many statutes, such as non-discrimination.
Meanwhile they are buying Lear Jets and spending BILLIONS in bribing congress!!

As a not-American, I'd suggest that most countries actually love the USA, but are worried about how the lunatics in the politics of the USA are destroying the legacy and reputation with the rest of the world. It shouldn't exist anywhere, but there's no money to be made in solving the problem.
Actually there is.
Many studies have been done in the issue and it costs cities vastly more to deal with homeless people than it would to give them all guaranteed basic income.
There was a study a couple of years ago out of California where a city found that arresting homeless people, tearing down encampments, sending police after them, etc... was costing the city about $175 million a year.
Meanwhile a UBI program for the homeless population would only cost them about $75 million. So they would save $100 million a year by not treating homeless people like criminals.
And once people had UBI they could quickly get established and find housing and permanent employment and be off the system. So it was estimated that within 5 years the city might be down to spending $5 million on the problem.
So yes, solving the problem saves a fortune. It's good financial sense.

As for UBI, we've already had programs giving money to the poor and it's been proven to be unhelpful to give multiple generations of a family free money. There no intensive to stop collecting free money if it keeps flowing. Yes, there are plenty of people who truly need the assistance, but also too many that don't, but collect anyway.
I have a theory about UBI that might be wrong but let me run it past you; Right now the there are a lot of people who make zero dollars and a loaf of bread costs $5. If the new zero dollars becomes $1,000 for everyone, then a loaf of bread will cost a lot more money because now everyone can afford to pay more with a UBI in place. What I think people forget is the greed factor that can't be ignored.

Many people who have this form of religion, as opposed to true faith, will cherry pick small pieces of Scripture, out of context, to justify their own desired words, behaviors, and attitudes. They use their religion as a means of "differentiating" between "the good people" like them and "the bad people" who can be seen by them as in some way different, and in their eyes as less valuable, less worthy, but Christ makes it very clear that we are not to be judging other people in this way.
Seeking asylum is not only legal it's a human right.
Jesus's family sought asylum in Egypt to escape the killing by Herod. What more proof does anyone need about asylum/immigration as a Christian fact. Though to be fair Jesus wasn't a Christian, he followed the Jewish religion.
