In this Instagram live, Dr Louise Newson covers premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), conditions which occur due to changing hormone levels.
I was suffering from PMDD about 4 years ago and feeling hopeless. I had just come out of a few years of TREMENDOUS stress, taking care of a mentally ill family member and was feeling rage and extreame irritability before my period. Sounds silly but I want to write it down so your viewers can be made aware, I started journal writing and processing my own mental stresses and my feelings of anxiety, rage, etc., associated with my PMDD started to dissipate. It was my saving grace. Thanks so much for your video!
@@yensounta6501 Hi! So I wrote down my feelings from way back, feelings I didn't really even know were feelings anymore and expressed hurt and anger at family members I didn't even know I was hurt by anymore. By doing this, really FOCUSING on the feelings, letting myself feel hurt, having a BIG cry and then tearing up the pages in my case because a family member read my journal in the past and kicked me out because of it, so I have some trust issues with keeping journals, but that is just me. Any further questions please do let me know! : )
Thank you for all your wonderful work for women's health. What to do if estrogen (patches) + Utrogestan reduces serious symptoms of PMDD, but the aggression still is a problem?
Hi louise please could you do a session on metabolism genetics. Ive recently had a gebetic test suggest i may be a "fast metaboliser". Theres not a higa amount of daya online but i did see progesterone on one paper. This gene aldo affects SSRI metabolism. Wondering if for "fast metabolisers" they may beed extra progesterone? Thanks
Can we take HRT - estrogen patch and ( progesterone vaginal ) while being on Valium? I personal, tapering it and will take me approximately 6-9 months to stop the benzo. Are there any women on both HRT and benzodiazepines without issues, doctor Louis?

Thank you for sharing! Can you expand upon your journaling practice and how it helped with your PMDD? Did you do anything else? Feeling at a loss
