I got cut off at the end. Catch Part 2 here: czcams.com/video/cCk6WqFlgiY/video.html I wanted to add that I kept repeating the tongue twister over and over as I walked home and suddenly I got it. You can also practice with Betty, butter, burro. Or butter, butter, butter over and over again as fast as you can. I think I did a mix of the tongue twister and butter when I was practicing all those years ago.
I have been trying my whole life to trill my r's to no avail. I've watch many videos with exercises that I practiced & without success. I decided to give your tongue twister a try today after watching your video, and I'm doing it FINALLY! Thank you from the bottom of my heart bc I really was getting discouraged!
I’m Scottish so the R comes naturally to me. 😂
sounds Latina
Hey what is the meaning of the tongue twister provide by u?
“Pot of tea” worked for me after years of frustration. Thank you
That's great to hear. I'm so glad it helped.
I couldn't roll my r's until I was 21 years old. That phrase, "pot of tea" is exactly how I learned to do so after hearing someone mention it on a morning radio show.
SAME!!
i don’t get to you say “pot of tea”
I couldn't roll my rs and they are pivotal in my native language thank you so much ❤️ I'll be forever grateful
Did this video help you to roll your R’s?! 🙌🏼
@@skillabration-school yes and the butter one too
@@simotq1563 that's amazing! Thank you so much for letting me know.

@@skillabration-school I know how to trill my r’s , but it’s for me to combine them together with a word. Do you have any tips?
Holy Shit! I FUCKING DONE IT!
LETS GO BABY!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Erre con erre cigarro erre con erre barril que rapido corren las ruedas de ferrocarril (wanted to write it down so i dont need to keep replaying) love this vid
I made a clip with just the tongue twister here: czcams.com/users/shortsx8OB110otr0?si=Kg5zCZ6Vlju3YwcX
This is giving a bit better explanation than some of the other shorts I ve seen! I am currently in my room rn trying to quietly practice meanwhile my family is in the next room over. 😅
Awesome! Keep it up, and let us know when you get it!
Literally me 💀🙏
same smhh
My friends and family and everyone I’ve ever met can do it and I’m just like rdrdrdrd??!
As im sitting in the living room dooong the same thing but there in the room w mi☠️
I'm practicing rolling my R's and my family thinks I'm impersonating a cat 😹
Im a Filipino, we have rolled R's. Problem is, I FORGOT HOW TO ROLL MY R AND APPARENTLY I SAY IT WEIRDLY WHENEVER I SPEAK TAGALOG.
something similar happened to me. I never learned to roll my Rs and idk why bc Spanish is my first language so like I should've learned??? idk why I never did but I hope this exercise helps me finally learn lol
Any success? @@MM-bx4iv
Omg I’ve tried to roll my Rs at least a couple times a year for like a decade and just thought I couldn’t do it.
I actually rolled my tongue for like a second, but the excitement made me mess up. At least I know it’s possible now 😭😭
I will keep practicing
i tried two years ago when I was learning Latin and I could only do the throaty trill, and I would try a few times in a year as well today I was just lying there and trying to speak in Indian accent 😂 and when I said Run and it was an Eureka moment, I’ve finally done it.
Add a soft exhale, like fogging up a glass, while doing it. It helps control the air and helps most people i’ve helped.
“Erre con erre cigarro
Erre con erre barril
Que rapido corren las ruedas de ferrocarril”
That's a perfect Spanish "R" but in Puerto Rico specially in the mountains area our "R" is pretty much like the french from the throat 😮
Omg I was putting the tongue in the wrong part of my mouth and now I can roll my r’s. Thank you! 😍😘
Woo hoo!
Oh shit! I was too until I read your comment
Where's my tounge suppose to go cause I still can't do it? 😭
@@DestinyDelgado-hs7dkme neither
Muchas gracias, señorita!!!
I'm a native English speaker. I can roll my r's (or rather, roll my d's) but it sounds the same imo. But I can only do it if the r is in a word, like "Burro". I can't do it if the r is at the end of the word, like El Salvador. It just sounds like El Salvador-r-r-uh
Still can't do it, so frustrating
This actually is helping me more than any other videos I have seen, and I have tried dozens. Gracias!! On a separate note, I recently learned to say...Eres muy hermosa... and it is perfectly applicable here 😊
Russian Р р is the hardest one to learn, people say it’s Ы ы but that’s easy 😭
i always been able to roll my Rs but just not without it sounding forced. that tongue twister actually had me sounding like a real spanish speaker lmao
The best explanation i've ever could have come across
The phrase and word example like “pot of tea” made is simple to understand. This is the only tutorial that actually works for me 😊
Awesome! Thank you for the feedback.
I swear that pot of tea works MAGIC. THANKS
This was so helpful!!! Thank you
It's doing something lol. This is the closest i felt to doing it so I'm sure with practice I'll be rolling soon
Yassss!
How long did it take you to master the Spanish R? I’m struggling
@@Soy-Hammad2649 maybe a week lay on your couch and let your head hang back it off the edge. it makes your tongue heavier, i know its weird but it helped.
@@ili.ili_oxenfreebeen so frustrated trying to get it and this literally helps so much. Thank u lol
I can't do either of them to get the sound😭
i still dk how :( im going to spain soon to see my grandparents and i have never been able to roll my r’s correctly. only in words like trabajo or madre, but not in words like carro or burro or perro
this is such an amazing explanation, thank you so much!!
This is the best tutorial for rolled Rs I've seen.
Thank you. Saying pot of tea quickly then burro helps. 🙂
Wow this really works!!
Wow thank you!
If your trying to learn to roll R's but sadly had a speech impediment(it's better) with the r sounds, will this effect you?
R in English has a different placement than the R in Spanish. That’s why the “pot of tea” phrase helps. So, I don’t think it should affect you with rolling your R.
YES OMG TY I DID IT
When I do this I just blow air ( not consciously) in between the roof of my mouth and tongue that’s it
This is the best technique to learn rolling R’s I’ve ever seen!! ❤ gracias 🎉
That’s so nice to hear! I’m thrilled you found it useful. ❤️
Thank you thank you thank you
ngl the placement tips never help but i think the tongue twister is slowly helping thank u!!
Great tutorial! I am working with my husband and daughter teaching them Spanish and the Rs are hard for them.
Walking back home from high school 😭😭 that hit me deep inside
i’m saying pot of tea over and over at 3am trying to learn and it isn’t working 😭
Great video AND STORY😊 THNX
The rolling r is the easiest thing for me while learning Spanish
Are you kidding me?!? It's that easy??? I literally learned how to roll my r's in less than a few minutes by watching this. Unbelievable!!!
That’s so awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing. 🤩
This actually helped me THANK YOU!
Thank you so much❤ I didn't know how and you helped me a lot😊
It's amazing rolling 'R' 😊❤
THIS WAS REALLY HELPFUL OMG thank you sooo much genuinely 💗💗
Yay! Love hearing that! 😄
OMG i have never been able to roll my Rs until i watched your video. I've probably watched 50 videos and never been able to do this! But oddly I can only do it right now with "-arr" and "orr" words. Will keep practicing but thank you for the very clear explanation and tongue twister. !
Woah thats much further forward than I have been doing. I could roll it after a consonant like in pregunta but I struggled in words like carro and burro like when the r is rolled but not being stressed.
Me ha ayudado mucho gracias 👍
I can only do it with pot of tea. Maybe with practice I will improve.
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Happy to hear that!
this helps a lot omg thank u
💕Bless her Heart 💕
Your pot of tea bit let me instantly understand how to roll my r in the word Rojo.
Yay!
can native spanish speakers trill their R with mouth/teeth in closed position? or its impossible? thanks
So, I just attempted this as a non-native speaker. If I press my lips together, I'm not able to do it. Your jaw has to be slightly dropped in order for your tongue to lift up and trill. So your lips can be closed as long as your jaw is slightly dropped, you can still do it. I don't think it's about native vs non native. It's about the placement of your mouth and tongue.
im somewhat of a native speaker since i grew up speaking only Spanish with family. I can do it but not as good as with my moth fully open
R sounds need to blow air outside your mouth so it might be difficult since you have to release the air.
I can do it with my mouth closed, but it lasts just one second. Nevertheless, that's useless. 😂
I'm native spanish and i can trill the R but the sound can't be listened like with the mouth opened
Thank you!
mine sound so harsh, im french and to me it always just sounds like my trill, which is at the back of the throat, but when i try the spanish trill it sounds like a motorcycle lol
Can you do the tongue twister in a video on its own, no other words just the tongue twister
Yes, I made that version awhile ago. Here it is: czcams.com/users/shortsx8OB110otr0?si=Kg5zCZ6Vlju3YwcX
This was perfect I finally got it!! Thank you so much
Woohoo!
yo this is so helpful
This actually taught me how to roll my r’s in 15 seconds. Holy shit thank you
Oh my goodness thank you so much, I was so worried I wouldn't be able to do it but I finally got it!
Woo hoo! Congrats!
I been having trouble rolling my R in Norwegian and German even though the German R you do it in the back of the throat which is really easy but most of it has that R sound tip of the tongue
Did this tutorial help? 😅
@@skillabration-school det hjalp å rulle min R på norsk fordi når du ruller den er den veldig lik den spanske R. veldig bra video å lære av deg
One day, I'll get it. Only been trying for ten years now. 😅
I know Spanish I just can't roll my Rs. It's embarrassing when I talk too people in Spanish 🙍so in practicing too sound better
Keep us posted how it goes! 🤓
@@skillabration-school will do 🙌
@thebatman3905 any updates?
@@thebatman3905did you learn how to?
@@josedelion6971I apologize for late reply. I've been practicing for 5 mins a day and my rolling Rs sounds has improved! I'm still practicing so I can say more words 😎
IT WORKED! WOOHOO! GRACIAS!
Woohoo! Congrats! 🎉
Really Riking your rooks!
I can do a little trill, but cannot sustain it like “burrrrrrro” with my mouth in an O
What I struggle with is it feels like to roll the R requires pushing too much air, where I can’t actually **say** the word it’s in. (I think that would make more sense if you could hear how I’m trying to do it)
So I don’t think I’m practicing it right because it still feels like too much strain…
It sounds like you may have the position of your mouth and tongue a bit wrong. Keep working on the tongue twisters to get the positioning right.
I'm Filipino I can roll my R's
Yo that's one hell of a tongue twister ma lol couldn't even repeat that if I tried 😂
mine sounds like a car type vibration idk what to do
Are you gargling? If yes, your tongue is in the back of your mouth rather than the front. Watch the extended video here: czcams.com/video/cCk6WqFlgiY/video.html
Oh my god thank you I've been learning this
Happy to help!
no way! it works😂😂 tysm
Woohoo!
que bueno
I have no problem doing the short r, but the long r gets me. I can do it sometimes, but sometimes it’s like it just won’t come out. I think it’s easier when an o comes after (like “burro”) than when an e comes after (like “erre”) but I don’t know why. Is this something that I’ll just get better at with practice or is there something I’m not understanding about making the sound flow better?
I'm half Spanish and I can do it in words but I can't do it continuously, could you explain why that is or how I can fix that please?
I CANTTTT 😢😢😢
Aye if you're still here, how do you transition from the drrr trrrr prrr to just the rrrr. My tongue stiffens up when I try a word with out like churro
Not every word requires a trill. I’m not 100% what you mean by transitioning from dr, tr, to r. If there is an R in the beginning of a word, you and roll the R. If it’s in a word like caro (expensive), you don’t hear the trill as much. You hear it more in carro (car). When you pronounce caro just ensure the tip of your tongue is behind your two front teeth in the same position as the T when you say “pot of tea”.
@@skillabration-school I got my tongue pierced since, so that kinda put a challenge into it. Basically yeah I think I mean the trrr and drrr put your tongue in the position it needs to be in to roll it proper, how would you do it when it's a word that doesn't set your tongue ☺️.
uhmmm mine just sounds like ttttttt. can’t manage to connect it with any words though
Im going to give a go… wish me luck 🍀 thank you 🙏 very much
I can say pot of tea but when I try it I still sound like a broken engine, that’s choking. I’ll keep practicing I’ll get it
Holy sharp it works kinda
I think I can roll my r’s but I can’t put it into a sentence without slowing down very confusing still great teach though!😊
Practice makes perfect. Also, not every R needs to be rolled. You have a stronger trill at the beginning and end of words, or a double R in the middle of a word. Don’t give up!
Now, my Tata would be proud of me
Ksnfkejekej i am so close to getting better at speaking Spanish and this the one thing i cant do and im so frustrated and discouraged
I love you smile. 😍
when i say run, my tongue goes near the front ?
Got it
This is great.. but it's harder than I want to admit😢
Good things don't come easy. Don't give up!
Yo could've leant Costa Rican Spanish. It's R is similar to English R
I learned in a Spanish restaurant where the first time you were there you would get the first slice of bread and it would take a minute or two 2️⃣ hours for it all my name is Layla
See everyone says where to but your tongue but idk how to make the r like what do I do when I put my tongue where it needs to be …..😭😭😭😭😭HELP
Burro in Italian is butter 🤣
Burro means butter in italian 😂
Butter donkey !!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
I just made myself sound French lol
😂
I suck at r
Help when I say tardes my r vibrates really hard it's like am saying ta-rrr-des it kinda sounds weird how is it normal like that or I have some speech impediment
You don’t have to roll your R with tardes. Not every R is supposed to be rolled. Double R’s, like perro, burro, corre, are rolled. R’s at the beginning or end of a word can be rolled. A single R in the middle of a word isn’t rolled, but the tongue is still in the same position as explained in the video. If you just say Tar over and over you’ll notice your tongue start to vibrate a bit if you say it SUPER fast. But you don’t need to roll it for tardes.
@@skillabration-school thanks teach nikki
Thought it was for beginners
Idk if I’m actually rolling it but definitely making that sound more in my throat than on my tongue
If it’s in your throat, you need to switch the position of your tongue. Drop your jaw a bit, re-listen to the steps in the video.
