Hey guys! Brad Litton from SimpleGuitar.com here with a beginner guitar lesson that's more on the gear side of things. In today's guitar lesson for beginners we're going to answer the question "Should I buy a really good guitar or a really good amp?"
Guitar players are notorious for always wanting to buy more and more guitars, but one thing that will change your life is rather than endlessly buying guitar after guitar after guitar, invest in a good amp. You can run any guitar through a really good amp and there are other reasons.
Today I'm going to explain a little about why my Kemper Profiling amp is so awesome and why I got it and another really cool option that won't break the bank as much.

Another thought, a cheap guitar setup properly can play better than an expensive guitar with a bad setup.

A good amp is more important.
I owned several " intermediate "guitars and a solid state practice amp.
Then I bought a 30 watt tube combo ( Traynor) and suddenly I can hear all the little differences and nuances of my different guitars.

Speakers matter.
The speaker can and will change the sound of an amp.
Generally, though, a great combo amp will have a great speaker.
One trying to save some cash could buy a used cost-effective amp like a Crate and put a great speaker in it.
A playable guitar that you can properly tune is important.
The sound of your guitar lays heavily in what your amp produces.

I want a tube amp, need to feel the air....can play any guitar through it, I built my own plexi style amp and couldnt go anywhere else

What about the Peavey VYPR for a starter amp?
Buy a good guitar. Just get a Katana for an amp if you have no money.
I’m yet to get to play a katana but a lot of people sure like them.
