  • Continued with the ZooParc de Beauval Gorilla youngsters enjoying their chase and water splashes. • Gorilla Splash Party K...
    Yamba climbs the rock with some wood wool in his mouth. When M'baku is coming up and trying to splash him with the water from the pool. Yamba sits down, getting a slap from M'baku as he runs past him. M'baku has a quick splash in the pool with his hand. He walks around the pool, hits the pole and then splashes his leg in the water. Suddenly Kovanga comes slides to the ground off the rope and chases after M'baku. Yamba has his foot in the water. If you're wondering about the water being dirty... as you saw in the last video the water was really clear and the staff does clean the water regularly. They just run through the water that many times that all the dirt and mulch gets caught in it.
    One of the other youngsters comes dangling down. They start chasing each other again and Yambo does a swing and grab.
    M'baku goes back to the pool for a little splash. Another chase erupts and running through the water and up the rope.

      Thrilled to discover that this forward-thinking zoo has been responsible for the re-introduction of captive gorillas into their native habitat.
      A fifteen minute video, of one such, is featured on their website. It is interesting to note that they were both females, so whilst it may greatly pain the prospective fathers and ourselves that some may never achieve parenthood then that loss can be tempered by the fact that an over-arching and imperative objective is being put into practice.

      Some more info on this. The ZooParc de Beauval worked together with Aspinall (Howletts Wildlife Sanctuary& Port Lympne UK) on getting the two females to Batéké Plateau National Park, Gabon and some wonderful news that Mayombé's had a baby girl, named Taàli a year later.
      The article can be found here. actus.zoobeauval.com/article/taali-bebe-de-mayombe/?_gl=1*1xj00te*_gcl_au*MTM5NTY1ODAxMC4xNzE4MzM0NDI0 . Tragically a few month after arrival Kuimba passed away, reason unknown.

    Are there differences between the gorillas in how much they are in the water?

    • @SloggerVlogger
      @SloggerVlogger  Před 2 měsíci

      It's mostly the young ones that do go into the water. Kovanga, I would say, enjoyed it the most. I think they like water this much because of the tropical heat they've got in their gorilla house, whereas the gorillas in Twycross reflect more of the UK climate.
