@@Slash27015 Still doing this regularly in Germany, I own a 3.0L BMW 528i from 2010 with 260hp (yes, i gained 2hp with a custom exhaust). Here in the Netherlands the max allowed speed during daytime is 100kmh. But in Germany it is unlimited. Since I only live 15mins from Germany, whenever I feel the need for speed, I drive there and just push it up to about 255kmh GPS speed. Sometimes I see other Dutch people with small 1.2 or 1.4L engines testing their top speed at like 170kmh. Sometimes I even deliberately slow down to drive past them at about the same speed. Knowing that they are on their max, I then suddenly slam the pedal when I am next to them and just dissappear on the horizon. Also I remember one time with my previous car, a 2003 2.3L Golf V5 with 170hp, that there was a Dutch guy driving in germany about 210kmh with a brand new Volvo V40 T3 (top speed). My Golf was able to do 225kmh so you could just imagine the feeling of being able to pass a brand new Volvo V40 T3 with a 15 year old Golf. Also know that both the V5 and the inline 6 have custom exhausts, so next to them being relatively fast, they make an extremely beautifull and loud sound. Making the experience like twice as good.

Sicklehead88 But still, I guess in most traffic situations you cant drive that fast. I mean, even here, the Driver had to drive in the middle of both roads.
LasKekse it is true that in most situations you can't drive that fast, but he didn't really have to drive in the middle of both roads. don't know why he did that. i went 280 once on an autobahn with more curves and i also didn't have to occupy 2 lanes at once.
Bill Wood i don't really know what that has to do with my comment, but of course failures can occur, but are very very rare. every car has to be checked every 2 years, people check their tire pressure regularly and there are laws for minimum tyre profile, etc.
After about 2 minutes of full throttled they start humming like a dream 🏁🏁 And calm even when correcting that standard suspension wobble at 170 + HATs OFF TO YOU MY GOOD SIR 🎩🎩🎩😂
which technically isnt as safe as staying in a lane, since the lanes have some kind of "rails" that keep you in track, while when driving in the middle of the road you dont have this luxury and are happen to hit "not shaped" parts of the tarmac.
Sometimes I do it the same way when I go over 250 km/h without traffic because then on a 2 lane Autobahn you have more space to react if there is something unexpected on the road. Btw the rails are the unsafest way to drive the Autobahn I think, except you are in a truck. The wide tires of a sports car in a "rail" will shake your whole chassi around and when it's wet you have a much higher risk of aquaplaning.
@@Pintkonan those are not rails, when road is made, it's even, when it's not repaired every 10-15 years or so, depending on quality of it, such "rails" may appear. That's just normal wear.
Scott Rikkard Yes the 8-series is a big and a heavy car, so ofcourse the aerodynamics are worse than a 3-series. But still for a 1800kg weighing GT the aerodynamics are very good. Something that American cars can learn about that.
GanG914 Yes i was wrong, i didn't know that the 8-series had a drag coefficient of 0.28. I thought that a 3-series is more aerodynamic. But no it isn't, still a good job from BMW to make the 8-series the most aerodynamic car in the world.

Wirklich gut gefahren.
The heavy weight of a car doesn't affect its top speed; it only affects its acceleration. The maximum speed gets affected by aerodynamic, and the aerodynamic of a 850 is very good. A Ferrari Testarossa's top speed is 298 km/h with 390 PS. The 850 CSi shows 380 PS and runs round about 299 to 302 km/h.
Can any german tell me how much they spend on a year on a maintenece of these cars, because I get the impression that you need to spend at least 500-800 euros every monthy if you drive like this every day when going to work. I understand that traveling from home to work 100-200km is completely usual and normal in germany, because it takes only 30 min to travel that distance on autobahn. But how much does it cost you to constantly change your tires, refresh expendable drive parts, brakes, brake discs, clutching disc etc... Do you buy original parts or just buy a cheaper 3rd party copy of originals, because here, in Croatia, anyone who has a 20 year old BMW probably doesnt have half of original expendable parts on it, from brake discs, to clutching mechanism, to exausts etc, all 3rd party components. I live in Croatia where limits are up to 130 km/h (speeding ticket camera activates on 160+ km/h so you are safe to drive up to max 150km/h (+20 km above limitation) People here like mercedes and BMW for their quality, but they usually bitch and complain about fuel economy of those models from 90s and early 2000s because they waste too much fuel on city driving but they are supremely economical when driving above 120 km/h on a plain highway. So I understand that BMW is made for roads lke this and most efficient when driving fast like this. But how much does it cost to maintain such a car when driving it under a such stress. Here people dont go for anything above 2.5 diesel, 2.0i gasoline version, and even those who have Mpower series or anything above 3.0i / 3.0 TD series are just lucky enough to be able to drive their cars at all after 20 years because maintenence and spare parts are just too expensive, and fuel econmy s gas guzzling. but when speaking about durability without maintenence, look ad E 190 2.0 and 2.5D, and W123 mercedes series, those are a champions of durability, I mean half of people in my town have one of these 2 models passed over one milion km (the numbers of how much you passed just stucks on 999 999km and those cars are STILL FUCKING START UP & DRIVE, chasis is rusted, parts are almost detaching from each other, oil filters never changed, even engine oil is depleated, but cars still FUCKING START AND DRIVE....And they will probably be drivable for another at least 300 000km, as long as chasis is holding in one place until it rusts away. The only way to make old Mercedes and BMW not driving, is when they split apart due to rust. But there is no such thing as a sudden mechanical failiure that will stop a BMW or Mercedes from being in driving condition. german cars are fucking built to last.
But does it take too much on a brake discs, suspension and engine itself by driving it in full speed all the time like this. Can you drive like 200 km/h every day for 300 000 km or more without any general maintenence or repairs. BMW and Mercedes are known for their quality suspension and divertain which is always designed for evern bigger weight cars than they are usually put on. So even on our roads (which are also mainly holed & bumpy "kazakhstan" style) BMWs and Mercedes last very long (like I said, for more than 300 000 km without any special maintenence (Mercedes even above 1 milion)
Well ofcourse you dont try to hit 200km/h in a nissan sunny, but like a 200hp mercedes can run at 200km/h no problem, you waste a lot of fuel by doing so but no real harm to the car. German cars are made to be driven in autobahn, and so are japanese. And you really shouldnt buy other makes if youre into quality anyway.

It's every car enthusiasts dream! Just having all that space to yourself... must be amazing!

Did he drive this during a zombie apocalypse? Not a car or even a truck on the road?
There was a Citroen Picasso at some point. I know you cant call that crap a car, but it was there.
Yeah, there was one car. It was just standing there though.
There was a great aldi sale.. Everybody was at aldi.. :D
You should know that in a zombie apocalypse the roads should be full of burned wrecks and random shit for no reason
Its german bud
When she tells you she is home alone
Well but this time around she was the one rushing to the *her* 😂😂

is that in an autobahn in germany or something? gotta have balls tho, the slighest mistake would mean your life
yes, it is an autobahn (don't know which part). but you don't really need balls for that, just a good driver's education and concentration ;-)
It helps if the car is rock stable at high speed, which most any car in this performance echelon is. Doing 150 miles per hour feels like 75.
Sicklehead88 But still, I guess in most traffic situations you cant drive that fast. I mean, even here, the Driver had to drive in the middle of both roads.
LasKekse
it is true that in most situations you can't drive that fast, but he didn't really have to drive in the middle of both roads. don't know why he did that. i went 280 once on an autobahn with more curves and i also didn't have to occupy 2 lanes at once.
Bill Wood
i don't really know what that has to do with my comment, but of course failures can occur, but are very very rare. every car has to be checked every 2 years, people check their tire pressure regularly and there are laws for minimum tyre profile, etc.
Would love to stand on the bridge and watch this thing blowing by :)
Just have to love BMW 850 CSi
After about 2 minutes of full throttled they start humming like a dream 🏁🏁
And calm even when correcting that standard suspension wobble at 170 + HATs OFF TO YOU MY GOOD SIR 🎩🎩🎩😂
1:03 when you get so scared that you start driving in the middle of road for safety
which technically isnt as safe as staying in a lane, since the lanes have some kind of "rails" that keep you in track, while when driving in the middle of the road you dont have this luxury and are happen to hit "not shaped" parts of the tarmac.
@@Lama-dr4om really, sherlock, really? thanks for enlightening me.
300km/h to the gas station, awesome!
10 kmh more and he time travels.
One false move and you’re done. Nice speed btw.
Therefore no false move, lol

I've been watching this video several times since 2012-2013
I'm watching it in 2020 for the 1st time

Welcome to bmw airlines.
How can I help you ?
Im suffering with the economy any help?
Best top speed video I've seen in the past 5-6 years. He never gave up and kept pushing. Dude has some big balls!
legends say he still driving
“Nice roads” = flat, very well engineered and straight, with a long line of sight. Neat video to watch, thank you.
Wind creates such a big sound, cant even hear the engine! :D
Scott Rikkard Yes the 8-series is a big and a heavy car, so ofcourse the aerodynamics are worse than a 3-series. But still for a 1800kg weighing GT the aerodynamics are very good. Something that American cars can learn about that.
I doubt that even new 3series have better aerodynamics than this.
GanG914 Yes i was wrong, i didn't know that the 8-series had a drag coefficient of 0.28. I thought that a 3-series is more aerodynamic. But no it isn't, still a good job from BMW to make the 8-series the most aerodynamic car in the world.
Because v12 is quiet as fuck
It's even louder in a convertible. I've done 250kmh with the roof down before! 🤣😂
I love how he slows down to 170... and it seems like suddenly hes going around 90... XD
You sir have made a video, that has become a legend. Congrats.
what a strong engine, it goes long term about 300 km/h with no vibration Well done
How many countries did you just go through??? My guess is at least 3!!! Taking flight without leaving the ground......SWEET....
DESTROYER OF INSECTS
What an amazing car! I thought 300km/h would be deafening and shaky, but it's not!
Thank you for sharing this with us. We may never see this again.
100l/100km?
28 or less

TRANSLATION:
1. acceleration 0-100 km/h - 6 sec
2. consumation of fuel in downtown driving - 27,2 l/100km; (1 op 3,7)
3. consumation of fuel on a highway - 12,6 l/100km; (1 op 7,9)
3. consumation of fuel in combined driving - 18,0 l/100km; (1 op 5,6)
these are the original informations from BMW database about e31 850 CSI, and this means that he is consuming about 24 litre or less while driving it like the guy in this video driving it.
Amar Jašić He's consuming more than 24L/100km because I have an Opel zafira opc and when I accelerate like the guy in the video my car consumes 40L/100km (it's only a 2.0T 240cv)
@@MultiBossino You are talking about the instant consumption not the average. The consumption of a car is calculated from the average consumption. My question to you is what is the consumption when you go steady at 200 km/h ? It's not 40 isn't it ?
@@voidspace6326 A friend of mine has a mini with a 2 liter engine and at 250kph it uses 25l/100km
That's a ton of full throttle driving. Very well-built engine.
fantastic footage
these very underrated cars,
Absolutely fantastic, look how everything is going past so fast.
well done, excellent upload
A pleasure to see ,this bring back memories in a S600 W140.
I first used this car in Forza 4 and fell in love with the exhaust note, so I had to go on youtube and see if the sound in Forza was accurate and I am very impressed. I kept saying to myself that it sounded like a Pagani Zonda or the classic Lamborghini's
watching this with sweat hands..
Outstanding v12 sound I'm loving it
The speed of decision-making - we continue to take off !!
this is pretty much my dream car, and I have to say that this level of speed for this length of time probably feels so. fucking. good. oh my god it has me gripping my seat and im not even moving
That's what made BMWs the best in the world, the new idea with el. engines for almost all of their cars is bad.
SRAMEK well their new (since the E90) 6 in lines are garbage too, im not talking about performance but maintance costs. 335i has plastic hoses everywere and not even an oil dipstick...
DevasionX Its not only BMW also MB/Audi/VW are doing the same its all about lowering price .......
i have a clio dci 110 trust me i always done max speed 260km/h, 300 is nothing
DevasionX n52 is the best engine of our generation
it's awesome when the force of the wind matches the force of your car and you reach maximum speed
After all this years, it still stuck in my mind, it still my fav. e31 video, rewatching with Tomcraft - Prozac music track, as it was on original upload back in the days ❤
schön mal einen der 1510 Stück 850CSI beim fahren zu sehen, und das die immer noch 300Km/h schnell sind.
The road is so empty like a video game in training mode
I'll bet that brassy 2-3 upshift at 0:07 sounds amazing in real life. Damn.
great video and powerful BMW !
This holly old original video... One of my first speed video i ever downloaded on the internet! Thanks for annotations!! I think that something like 10liters of unleaded have been burned while this ;)
Nice windshield :p
One of my most beloved cars ❤ Equipped with a rear wheel steering system, the AHK is unbeatable on the highway at 300 km/h in corners ⭐
This was very soothing to watch.
Velmi pěkné video.Dlouho jsem neviděl tahle dlouhý úsek v Německu s minimálním provozem.Předjel za celou dobu jen jedno auto...
Pavel Veselý Na netu píše že vyjel někdy hodně brzo ráno. Ono to není moc poznat z videa.
For those who don’t know . The 850csi has the same engine with Mclaren F1
No. It was based on the never released BMW m8. It was only based on it.
@@vanillevaschnille9336 yes it is a variation of the engine
I was just mesmerized by the speed, my dreamcar, 850CSI
OG at the gas station told me to watch this video respect 🔥🔥🔥
amazing road ! pretty fast car
You are the Man!!!!
its a woman driving
It get's nostalgic when you watch a video you know you watched once many years ago, haha.
Wirklich gut gefahren.
Really a stock 850 CSi? That is amazing speed for a 1900kg GT in early 90s
V12 Engine....
The heavy weight of a car doesn't affect its top speed; it only affects its acceleration. The maximum speed gets affected by aerodynamic, and the aerodynamic of a 850 is very good.
A Ferrari Testarossa's top speed is 298 km/h with 390 PS. The 850 CSi shows 380 PS and runs round about 299 to 302 km/h.
lamberko i've read that this model in particular was electronic limited to
150 mph/250 kmh.I think this video is fake.
@@frankpastrana602 do you know how easy it is to remove the limiter, literally every tuning shop can do it and basically costs nothing.
I live in Croatia where limits are up to 130 km/h (speeding ticket camera activates on 160+ km/h so you are safe to drive up to max 150km/h (+20 km above limitation)
People here like mercedes and BMW for their quality, but they usually bitch and complain about fuel economy of those models from 90s and early 2000s because they waste too much fuel on city driving but they are supremely economical when driving above 120 km/h on a plain highway.
Im propably the first person to read your whole comment :P but yeah, youve goit point
Lukrecije Spiksy Driving on silk smooth autobahns for 200km/h is much more easier on the car than say, shitty americuh roads at 120km/h
They dont drive like this on a daily basis
This is probably the coolest road i have ever seen
BMW, the ultimate driving machine. Great ride, nice & steady. Cool video
MAX out @ 188mph. NOT BAD
So f*cking cool dude. Rock steady at 186MPH! That was the shizzzzzzzzz
Scheiße ist das geil. Als erstes natürlich das Auto. Aber wo gibt es diese leere Autobahn und zu welcher Zeit?? Da muss ich hin...
Sonntagmorgen geht das auf jeder Dorfautobahn.

The 850 are monster I’m on my 3rd one in the 90s I took my 850ci up to 140 on the southern state in nyc!! And my legs started to trebling......let alone this guy going 186,,,,he got balls...the car doesn’t shoot off fast at all however in the long haul for 5- miles and longer it will wheel other cars down!! Truly a car way ahead of its time!!! I still love minds today.
