Fun fact: If you look through the big closed door the first time you enter the temple, you'll be able to see her crystal already there because of time travel.
The thing is, that most of the time travel in the main story constitutes an ontological paradox, meaning that it could not have gone any other way; since the amber is already there, neither Ghirahim nor Link couldn't have stopped Zelda before she went back in time; and then there is the weird dragon quest where you have to grow a tree... long story short it constitutes a causal paradox; why does this bother me? Because paradoxes are not what Gale and Zemeckis wrote about them into BTTF; they are simply logical contradictions and if you want to write a cohesive story you need to decide which type you want to resolve (btw. BTTF resolved the causal paradox) by - not necessarily explaining but - applying a congruent set of scientific laws to your story; but the issue is (unless you go for a rather complicated route) resolving one type of paradox makes the other type impossible (to resolve); so...
Those two types of paradoxes should not coexist in the same story to begin with
@@michaelklaus The Tree actually breaks that Ontological Paradox. Basically, the way they handled The Tree was wrong. In the game, The Tree doesn't exist until you go back in time and plant the seed. Which, given the way Time Travel works in this game, that shouldn't be possible. The Tree should have always been there. Since Zelda is always in the amber behind the locked door of the Temple of Hylia, that confirms that regardless of when you go back in time, whatever you've done in the past has already been done.
Now, I assume the reason they had The Tree not be there until after you plant it is to make blatantly obvious what you're supposed to do. I also have a sneaking suspicion they may have done this because they couldn't solve the issue of how they would force Link to go back in time to plant the tree if the tree already exists. I, however, have a very simple and elegant solution to that. When Lanayru tasks you with getting him a Fruit from the Tree, have him tell you what he actually tells you in the game that The Tree no longer exists and gives you the seed to plant a new one. However, I would add in Link, after taking the seed, mentioning that he's seen a tree like the one Lanayru describes, but he's never seen Fruit on it. Lanayru, being Lanayru, puts two and two together and figures out what's going on, but doesn't tell Link. He just tells Link to take the seed anyway as it might come in handy. Then have Link attempt to examine The Tree and have Grannie tell you that The Tree has never born fruit for as long as it's been there and the she doesn't know why (she's lying, of course, as she does know why). She then tells you to take the Gate of Time back into the past to seek answers from someone there who might know more. Of course, you pop out and Impa is still standing guard. Impa tells you that she does, indeed, know why The Tree does not bear Fruit, but before she'll tell you, she requests that you plant the seed Lanayru gave you. After you do so, Impa explains that the seed you just planted is the seed that will grow into The Tree we saw in the present. She then goes on to tell you that the reason it has never born Fruit and will never bear Fruit in its current state is because it's the Tree of Life and in order for that specific Tree to reach maturity and bear Fruit, it must be imbued with The Power of The Gods. Basically, hit it with a Skyward Strike from The Master Sword. So you go back to the Present, hit the Tree with a Skyward Strike, and obtain The Fruit. Boom. Problem Solved. Paradox Maintained.
Ah, yes. The "whatever time-travel logic is convenient for my story". I don't like when they do that. It should either be "it was destiny, it was gonna happen anyway" or "changed the future in a new timeline". Pick one! Same in OoT, with the Song of Storms case (destiny logic) VS the Zelda sending Link back in time case (new timeline logic). Though admittedly, at least here the Ocarina and the Master Sword could have different logic for how time travel works.
As for the tree case, perhaps the fact the seed was originally taken from a timeshift area has an influence on it? At least that's the excuse I'll use in my head canon haha
@@geekley How DID that seed make it out of Lanauryu desert without POOFING into non existence?
@@nworder4life Same way Link does, with all the stuff he carries around. He's able to cross the timeshift area because of the Master Sword, which has time traveling powers.
In fact, I highly suspect Hylia is the "goddess of time" mentioned in Majora.
22:39 Deebee: "Why does Link look terrified?!"
He's staring at his childhood friend Zelda, who's claiming to be the Goddess in mortal form. He's staring at a deity. He's having an angelic "be ye not afraid" moment, while also getting a metric ton of exposition dumped on his face. Of course he's gonna be a little shell-shocked.
22:49
From LINK'S perspective, he's trying his best comprehend that his childhood friend WAS the Goddess.
I've always loved that split second of anguish you see from Link after Zelda seals herself in the amber. I wish other Links were more expressive like that... you can really tell how much he cares about her in that moment along with that stumbling run to get to her right before.
I actually never noticed it until I watched it here. It’s refreshing to see a side of link that expresses himself more
I always felt like this Link and Twilight Princess Link were both expressive. But those are the two that show their expressions the most imo
@@melodygarrison8071those two and windwaker/toon link are the most expressive to me imo, and it’s really nice to see
@@melodygarrison8071 Toon Link as well if you count comedic facial expressions but... I don't count comedic like that. lol
Admittedly Wild's face the first time you activate a tower in TotK is very expressive in how freaked out he is though. lol People doing him dirty not warning him of what was going to happen before activating and how!! (Purposely being vague for the sake of Dee not playing yet.)
BOTW/TOTK Link does care for Zelda so why isn’t the developers given the similar expressions like this version of Link did.
Aaaaahhh… this moment. One of the most painfully iconic moments of the Zelda series. And one of the reasons why I love Skyward Sword.
When link cried I just wanted to give him the biggest hug ever
I freaking love groose, he such an amazing character that came out of left field. No one expected to love him as much as the fandom ended up loving him.
It's kind of heartbreaking as well because based on his characteristics he is likely the ancestor of the Gerudo. Then that would make him Ganondorfs ancestor as well.
@@clasher138 I always took his inclusion in this game as confirmation that Ganondorf was supposed to be Grooses reincarnation but maybe because of the twins and Demise he ended up a puppet for evil throughout the ages.
@@The_dandy_zombie yes Demise would probably choose him as a way to get back at Link and Zelda. He's their friend and yet there's nothing they can do to save his bloodline from the cycle of hate
@@clasher138 very sad. It would be cool one day if we got a not evil ganondorf in a game but considering Ganondorf/Ganon in the OG villain of the series I doubt they’d ever allow him to be non-evil. Zelda games never disappoint me anyway tho so either way I’m happy.
@@The_dandy_zombie it is a sad truth. Ganondorf does have his own wants and stuff but his nature thanks to Demise will always be to use violence and pain to get what he wants. Even wind waker where he is at his most understanding after losing everything, he killed two sages just to weaken a blade he couldn't find. It's still cruel but I don't think he can escape his nature and twinrova really didn't help since they raised him to be more evil
Beedle's evil little smile before he pulls the rope always cracks me up 😂
22:39 "Why does he look terrified?" BECAUSE HE KNOWS WHAT SHES GOING TO SAY 😭😭😭
Someone had a lot of fun editing that giveaway intro 😆 I'm so excited to see your tears of the kingdom playthrough!!! I just finished it this week and it was amazing!!! You are going to absolutely love this game Dee!
the editing reminded me of youtube poop
Groose is like the most in-depth character in the entire Zelda franchise. Absolutely love the dude and his character development
Link's face when Zelda falls asleep breaks my heart every time. He looks so sad.
Your reaction to this whole lore dump is just great. Zelda's lullaby, Zelda herself and the True Master Sword, this cutscene is amazing.
Damn I really wish they did more with the “Link essentially being a goddess pawn” plot point. Honestly the dynamic between destiny and free will in the face of divinity is one my favorite thematic motifs in the series, and this is the closest we’ve gotten to it really being explored or even just acknowledged. If only they’d do more with it than the occasional poke of the stick. Aw well, guess that’s what the fan content is for.
Groose is a character that we all hated at first, but slowly grew to love
I love Skyward Sword. I still remember playing it for the first time. I fell in love with Zelda even more than I ever had before. I realize just how precious Zelda as a series was to me. Especially during this revelation. The story of Skyward Sword completely re-affirmed what I already knew.
Zelda will always be one of the greatest series of all time
why everytime dbg says giveaway gets cursed xD also
"Which means Kratos.....CAN SUCK IT !" killed me xD I wasn't expecting that take, btw a small detail is that if you at the beginning of the game, well actually when you first get to the sealed temple if you go into first person and look through a small crack you can see zelda sealed in that yellow crystal, a nice little detail. Just a little bit more for that solid snake part
I think Groose really has one of the best character developments.
And I just loooove the lore around Skyward Sword. 🤧
Groose's theme getting the strings treatment for his character growth is very sweet 😂
The whole thing of Hylia being Zelda and not being someone that ‘lives’ within Zelda still trips me out. When she kept correcting herself, it kept tripping me out because like woah, she IS Hylia, Hylia is HER. That’s so crazzyy!! 🤯💀
Edit: Also, I forgot to say, that jumpscare in the intro of the video was soooo unwarranted 🫤. I demand compensation for this newfound trauma that I’ve developed🧍🏽♂️. (I’m kidding, but still 😭)
Dee's content is just getting better and better
Him stopping for zeldas lullaby was so wholesome
The quest to get the Song of the Hero is my absolute favorite part of this game! Can't wait to see DeeBee do it!
22:45 When you realize that THIS is the reason why every Link in the future can wish on the Triforce. Because the OG Link went through all the trials and achieved a perfect balance of power, wisdom and courage.👌
Trying to finish TOTK before your playthrough while working, finishing up my masters program, and taking care of a newborn has been quite a challenge! Still so pumped to see your reactions to it all, not to mention the DeeBeeWay potential!
Good luck my guy
15:25 I never noticed that it's Groose's theme playing in the background, but a sad and melancholic version of it.
This game knows how to touch the heart strings, it’s filled with emotion and excitement!
You associated Zelda with Jurassic Park. You are a LEGEND.
22:40 "that is a face that has seen some serious sh-"
I understood that reference.
How do you do fellow pun lover.
LOVE YOUR CONTENT DEEBEEGEEK!! Wishing the best for you and DeeBeeGirl!!! I’m loving your adventures and experiences with Zelda and I can’t WAAAAIT to see your Tears of the Kingdom playthrough!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed today's episode: I cried, I laughed, and I cried with laughter! It's brilliant to see you go on this epic journey and I relate so much to how you reacted to each event and character. (Yep Beedle made me fume at his extortionate prices, I cheered at Groose teaming up with Link, cried for Zelda, and unfortunately laughed very hard when you called Zelda "fossilised"!)
Thank you again for playing and for making another grear video!
Woooohoooo!!! One step closer to Tears of the Kingdom!!! ❤
you just showed me those large bombs, I played this game a lot and I never saw them before. Good eye, I'm glad you showed me that.
i loved the reaction when he saw Levias, and also the scream when the giant bomb exploded
The big critical lore drop that ties together pretty much every single game, and the reaction was fitting. Keep this game in the back of your mind during TotK, or any Zelda game really.
49:09 Hey, it's the recipe cooked from BotW sound! Had no idea it debuted here first.
I can’t with Links facial expressions, the poor guy was crying and that broke my heart 💔
Loving this series!! I really enjoy all the voices you pair for the dialogue portions! So much fun! Can’t help but laugh and smile every time you say, “LINK in all caps”! Keep the videos coming!! Looking forward to your play through of Tears Of The Kingdom!
The song that was playing during the scene were Zelda went to sleep was called Zelda’s lullaby and has existed since Ocarina of Time and is so iconic it was used in age of calamity
Zelda's lullaby debuted in A Link to the Past.
love that the beginning thing for the giveaway is slowly becoming more of a YTP.
I’ve been waiting for the moment you get the True Master Sword. Yes, this moment in the game was a whirlwind of emotions.
This is one of the reasons why this is my top 5 Zelda games.
I hope you get the Hylian Shield in the game to complete the iconic look of Link. If you want to get it I’ll give you a hint… it’s somewhere hot and dusty with lots of broken railways. A trial awaits you to clear 50 waves.
I wish you luck!
Dunno where you're getting "50 waves" from... but regardless,
he finished this game like a month ago so any hints are useless now.
(Also, he does end up getting the shield near the very end.)
@@King_Luigi still a cool riddle though don’t be lame
Oh great, now the giveaway intro is pure nightmare fuel XD
This is my favorite LoZ game, the lore is so awesome!! I love that they made a little comic with the battle of the goddess, just perfect! 💚
You know... Groose is really dumb, but he really helped us defeat the avocado sausage finger demise monster.
I'm so excited! Been subscribed! And yeah, I almost cried at this part
“I am still your Zelda” AGH that line gets me
I hope youll do a side quest video soon! There's so many fun ones!
Love your videos, zelda ones of yours make my day
21:07 - 21:09
Bro, did Dee just spoil an ending twist himself without us doing it for him?!
He is Literally the most generous guy and funny af
9:00 ok that was just hilarious it looked like link tried to jump for cover 😂
I love how all the master swords from the past was hidden in sacred places, from pedestal of time in OOt to The Great Deku tree of BOTW, but the one in skyward Sword is just hanging on Links Back before it even turned into the True MasterSword.
Wow that was an emotional scene. Great story building too.
41:22 xD Deebeegeek breaking the news in the hilarious way
This is the most funny skyward sword Play through ever keep up the good work Deebeegeek
This is easily the greatest and most funniest Zelda Playthrough your uploading to CZcams. I can't stop laughing. And the editing is absolutely top notch.
I love your reaction to Zelda games and this one has so much lore, it's so cool yo see someone be so invested and not afraid to show emotion :)
Hey Dee keep up with all your amazing content I can already tell this video is going to be awesome
28:37 you can actually pinpoint the second his heart rips in half
When LINK had that face I can tell you I was the same way during the lore drop
Always appreciate that you upload these to youtube. Thanks Dee. I hope you have a great weekend.
That intro was, Interesting...
I'm definitely leaving a like as always! Love Ur videos, can't wait for totk & giveaway!
That "giveaway" at the beginning is possessed by Demise I'm sure of it.
lol I like your character voices, your doing those voices really really well, well done
i love it when u put special voices over the npcs
The lore...
The pain in my chest...
Such a great episode.
I love watching you play Zelda games. Ive been obsessed with this series for close to 20 years now.
Great video aigain! I hope the baby gets born healty!
Truly such a great part of the story! Was great watching you react to it.
Thank you, Dee, for such wonderful content. I needed this after the last 48 hours I’ve had. You’re a good lad for what you do.
Watching Dee play Skyward Sword is great for lunchtime
Trick for fighting the Imprisoned:
You can use the air turrents to go to the upper levels, jump to its head and attack the stick, this works in all the battles and even in Hero Mode, however you must do it quickly or else it will try knock you from his head
"I love your sassy behaviour." I was like sobbing quitely and brusted into laugh. Oh man LOL 27:35
Link being hit on by the (obviously not too) bereft fortune teller was hilarious.
..."GiVeAWay!"
This is a big reason why I love Skyward Sword. The story is so emotionally charged, there is major character development aside from Link and Zelda, and the MUSIC! Even after finding out that she was the Goddess Hylia, and how she, in her previous life, had chosen Link as the Hero before she even knew Link, Zelda still cherishes the life she had as a mere mortal, and regrets involving Link since they're childhood friends. And Groose dropping his "tough guy" facade and forming a bond with the Old Woman is absolutely heartwarming.
Loving this series ❤❤
This has been such a great series. I always love Dee's character voices, and even Groose's brief Granny impression! 😉
Nooo, the saddest of backflips the infamous sadflip didn't make it into the video. It will be missed just like the Twilight Princess deedle experience.
I remember discovering the amber crystal in the crack behind the door the first time I entered the sealed temple on my first playthrough. When this moment arrived and I realized that it was ZELDA in there the whole time… 🤯
I love the voices Dee gives people 💕 can't wait for your totk playthrough
That was the most threatening giveaway clip I've seen, haha
Never thought I'd hear the phrase, "And that Kratos can suck it!" 🤣
Dee Bee killing the mood with jokes about Links face 🤣 I laugh so hard, I'm glad you play this part of one of the most important part of Zelda franchise and the origin of the master sword
24:25
The best moment in the video
“While it’s true that I’m Hylia reborn, I’m still my fathers daughter and your friend…I’m still your Zelda…So I’m going to ask you a favor, sleepyhead. Ever since we were kids, I’d always be the one to wake you up when you slept in. But this time, when all of this is over, will you come and wake me up?”
This touched my heart on a very deep level. I remember the first time I played this one back when it was first released, I wasn’t ready, I sobbed like a baby…it shattered my soft, sensitive heart into pieces.💔 I couldn’t love a game series anymore than this one and I’m so overjoyed that I got to reconnect and play it after so many years of not not gaming at all. The Legend of Zelda was my first love, then Wind Waker (picked up on the series after being away for so many years), then Skyward Sword. Thank you Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma for creating this masterpiece 💚
Looking at the Gate of Time, I almost wonder if Skyward Sword took a cue from Chrono Trigger.
This was the episode I’ve been waiting for!!!
9:59 - Of course, it's not physically there, so it's more of a... _Phantom_ Hourglass, if you will. 😉
10:07 - I call him the "Lore-on". 🤓
36:00 - I mean... yeah, this was entirely optional, you could get by without helping him.
41:01 - Dee: "Is this the Headmasters room?" -- Pipit: "No, this is -Patrick- Pipit."
"Have you every seen Jurassic Park?" Dee honestly I'm freaking CACKLING so much at these vids
I’ve literally never done the fortune teller’s quest. I always just went straight to Zelda’s father
So glad I played this before TOTK there are more references than I thought
I got to finish skyward sword before you finish the youtube series, I’m ready to keep watching it, and hope to get in a new journey with you on TOTK ❤
I was there during that live.
Your reaction was so good, I love when you’re so invested in the story like this man.
Definitely why you’re my favorite streamer!
I am definitely going to enjoy today’s *G I V E A W A Y*
Fun Factoid! You can find a big skeleton in BotW and TotK that looks a whole lot like Levias....
Man, he hasn't felt like this since bayonetta died
THEYRE SO IN LOVE PLEASE
This is the only Zelda game that get's me choked up.
Finally you got to the peak of the game 😃
Just got my daughter to bed, this is perfect timing😌
These giveaway intros are getting very creative. I can't wait for the eventual 3 minute autotune version
Aww this moment actually had me bawling😭😭😭
This isy fav part of this game. So memorable
I love how the giveaway promo keeps getting more unsettling with every video 😂
