So, I used the Nikon ZFC for over 6 month now. I believe I need to make some adjustments in terms of what I believe the new iteration should look and feel like. And, because everyone thinks this camera is taking on Fujifilm in terms of looks and functionality, why not use that and create something better.

I definitely agree, I am split right now between Nikon FF and Fuji APSC. It seems Nikon is not opening up the lens system for full frame but they are more likely to permit more third party APS lenses which it looks like we are getting with Sigmas recent APS Z lens announcement, 16mm, 30mm, and 56mm. Combine that with the 26, the 28, and the 40 and you have a number of compact, fairly fast primes, some of which have weather sealing and aperture rings. They just need a small decent zoom which I can see happening (the sigma 18-50 f2.8). A compact 23MM would be great to combine with the sigma 30mm and the sigma 56 as you'd get FF equivalent 35mm, 45 mm, and 84mm which is pretty fantastic. There's no true 35 mm prime for APSC on Z series currently.
If Nikon fully committed to improving the Z FC with weather sealing, more megapixels (24), an ND filter, thumb bump for ergonomics and enhanced viewfinder (maybe bigger/better resolution, anything really) then I would fully commit to the nikon system sell all my fuji gear and drop a couple thousand on a Z FC 2 and lenses. It would be great, I'd love to have a full setup of Nikon Film, DSLR, Z FC and FF setup. As it stands it just doesn't make sense because Fuji APSC is way superior.
I'm really on the fence and not buying anything until I see new cameras from Nikon/Fuji this year. And if nothing comes out then I'm really hesitant to spend money on lenses because I don't want to split between two systems.
Great suggestions in there ☺️🙌🏾 - especially inbuilt ND. I don’t think you mentioned a sensor-cover, which would reduce lens-swapping anxiety. However … I’ve just started using the Zhonghyi lens turbo, which has the added-PLUS of covering the sensor, in addition to enabling me to shoot “full frame” with old vintage lenses. I think you’d love that! I don’t care much for the Z-lenses, and focus-peaking plus focus-zoom enable me to get sharp results - manually-focusing is just an additional dimension to enjoying the “hipster-shooting experience” 😉
I love this camera. It's been my favorite take out and shoot body since I got it day one! I agree with almost everything you said; however, I prefer to keep the f-stop display in its current position but have it backlit as you suggested to keep the aesthetics intact. I would also love to see a shutter speed of 1/8000 of a second. I also don't mind for the follow up to be a BSI (and maybe full frame sensor) with IBIS but without compromising the nice portable size. Lastly, I would love to see some good 1st or licensed 3rd party primes if the follow up remains a DX format body. I use mostly TTArtisan, 7Artisans, and Laowa lenses with my Z fc because of the brighter apertures they offer (fixed 0.95-1.4 vs Nikon's 3.5-6.3 apertures.)
Good points, yeah I agree. I still don’t think the aperture window is necessary, and 1/8000 will be awesome but the “consumer” grade cameras usually avoids it. As for the primes, Nikon needs to open the aPI to other manufacturers so we can have a variety of options. The manual focus lenses are nice and all, but sometimes you need a snappy fast capture and even for those with a lot of knowledge in zone focusing is pretty unreliable. (Been there missed the shot😂)

I’d agree with everything bar the ovf , the zfc & Fuji x100 series are different enough that it would be unsuitable & better suited to a Nikon version of the X100 & Lieca Q series. I myself would like an Z6/7 series evf . Hopefully there will be a FF version & a true successor of the DF about 12mp sensor like another legendary camera D700, & Sony A7S series also use this resolution.
Hopefully…it will be a pinnacle of beauty. As for the EvF/OvF i don’t see a problem especially if they move towards rangefinder style😁. But one can only dream…😂
Being a Zfc user， I expect to have ibis and joystick on the next generation.

Good video Video Cris, I agree with you on everything that you want changed or added to the camera and i believe that Nikon can implement it all, but I’m sure that it would increase the price significantly. On a separate note, are you sure that pumpkin is a dog, it looks like a cat. I know Cris, I should go easy on the vin while watching you-tube videos.
