      I am sorry. I lost one this week too. No signs of anything wrong, just found her by the door the other morning. Thankfully my husband is kind enough to haul her off to the woods for me so I don't have to deal with it myself. Its hard but part of life with chickens.

      Probably true about Daylilies, we have a local nursery that specializes in them. I need to make a visit over that way one day and take everyone here along!

    Beautiful looking garden, its the bees knees. We have highs of 68 at the moment and a rainy summer so far this year, we have only had to water the flowerbeds twice this summer. Don't know how you garden in such high temperatures and keep your garden looking so well.

      You do acclimate to it. It is to dip into the 80's this next week and I will most likely be putting on a long sleeved shirt to keep me warm.

    Pam I wanted to let you know that my pest control guy told me feeding seeds to birds will attract the rodents, they bite off my clematis at base and do lots of damage. I do have hummingbird feeders but I stopped feeding seeds and it broke my heart to stop because I love all the beautiful birds I had in my yard but I had mice in my attic and we have voles and mice in yard and it freaked me out hearing the scratching in attic. Squirrels damaging my trees making nests and even a raccoon one night eating seeds that fell below the feeder. With dogs not good to have these disease carrying things in my yard. I have put up bird houses and I have two bird baths and that is attracting birds back. Your Eden rose is so pretty, I have a few different Eden roses just taking off. My DA roses are on way to a second flush which seems to be as beautiful as first. That not Jasmina rose is so pretty, I think it is a win. I got a Generous Gardener and it is blooming white and others have told me that weather and age of plant can affect the blooms so I am not yanking it yet but if it is white next year I am going to gift it and get another.

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse  Před 21 dnem

      Yes, bird seed can attract rodents but I already have chickens and their feed which does the same thing so I am doomed either way. But my cats do a relatively decent job at keeping them under control and our pest guy has bait in my basement for the little monsters. I let the feeders sit empty a couple days between feeding and the ground feeding birds do a halfway decent job eating the ones that fall to the ground. Repels All does help too. I also gift plants that don't please me after a few years. It makes it easier to let it go if I know someone will appreciate receiving it.

    Hello Pam. Your garden is so lush! I spotted your delphinium wish is 10 yrs old… I’m jealous. Just can’t get them to grow here. They never become vigorous and die the 2nd year. Are the gophers not munching them? How fortunate for you. Should I try one in a pot? OMG your Eden rose with clematis…spectacular.

    Hi Pam, I am enjoying the tours! I’m curious do you put your potted rose tree in your greenhouse before freezing weather?

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse  Před 23 dny +1

      No it stays on my covered porch up against the house. My neighbor has the same one and she does have it out in her garden but she prunes it back hard before heavy snowfall. And it is gorgeous. I have thought about doing that one day.

    Do you fertilize through irrigation? Right now I need to figure out zones as I think I have too many emitters because some areas are not getting water. I’m using 1/4” with 6” spacing because the 1/2” is only available in 17” emitters for vegetables. I’m getting ready to set up flower areas and think I will use 1/4” off a mainline so I can move it as all flowers don’t like a lot of water, or plant according to need. And have to add more shutoff valves because onions don’t like to be too wet. Had to use the hose today and it takes out more flowers than it helps.
    This place turns to dust without regular rain and we did need a dry out, but I was running today to try and get things done because that heat is arriving Sunday and with a heat index of at least 100*F. It will be oppressive with all the humidity.
    It almost seems like fall will be early as everything seems 2 weeks in advance.
    My new love is Speedwells over Salvias. Much neater and I don’t think they smell off like salvia.
    Ugh! What am I going to do about whatever it is digging under my fence? I think rabbit. It entered in a different location but search to find the soft area they exited before. 😡
    Rudbeckia are really something. I noticed a new one this year. I do have one that seeds everywhere and not too fond of it because it always mildews unless it finds the perfect spot. Can’t believe your Sweet Williams are still blooming! Mine were done weeks ago. But then the Sweet Peas are picking up when it’s getting hot and thought they wanted cool 🤷‍♀️.
    I went to a garden center yesterday and it was the worst day ever because of a cashier with Bad attitude with a Loud mouth. Had to ask for someone else as I couldn’t tolerate her rudeness-then that clown didn’t ring my bill right-it’s a mess. I rarely go out anywhere and this was suppose to be an easy fun day for us-overcharged majorly and now waiting for home office to straighten it out-it was a Really really bad time.
    I was looking at foxgloves today to see when I could collect seed and barely tapped it and a shower of seeds went down like rain😂. Whoops! Trimming tomorrow to take to other areas.
    Ooo, Eden rose and clematis 🤩🤩. I’m taking notes.
    Hollyhocks-😩mine got really a bad case of rust that I’ve never seen before even on blooms and now after trimming barely any leaves left. Oh well, we’ve had a lot of rain and but they do look like fireworks popping amongst other flowers 🤩.
    I have my first straw flower 🎉.
    Roses, just absolutely love them! So glad I bought a few more this year. They all have different habits which is fascinating. A deer got in one flower garden and mulched-think I will get a license this year 😒.
    I was so busy getting things done that I hadn’t noticed new bee balm blooming away right under my nose.
    Love reseeders as next year I won’t need to plant several. Perfect!
    Thanks for the tour as it’s always nice to see what’s going on and if my garden is on track.

      Someone with a bad attitude can just suck the joy out of a day! Sorry that happened. Well it sounds like our heat is making its way to you. Stay cool and hydrated and though I doubt it will happen, I also wish you less mosquitoes!

    Are those loosestrife ?

    Hi Pam
    You garden looks so beautiful, as always 🙂
    With this heat, my petunias are definitely taken a beating 😕 some even actually died back to seed.
    Mine are in full sun. Are yours in full sun?
    What fertilizer did you use? I don’t know if it will help to change but at this stage 😬
    It can’t hurt. lol
    Thank you

    • @FlowerPatchFarmhouse
      @FlowerPatchFarmhouse  Před 21 dnem

      Yes, mine are in the full sun and some are definitely struggling. I have not really fertilized this week but I am going to use my Organic Rev to help them. It will help them uptake and utilize the water more efficiently then I will use the EcoOrganic diluted to half strength to give them a bit of nutrition. Being water soluble and easy for the plants to absorb it won't burn them. Both products should be linked in my description box.
