- Find out more about the Haul Master Truck Bed Cargo Unloader. Unloading your truck bed with the turn of a crank sounds nice but does it really work? See footage me putting it to work with multiple types of material and the tips and tricks I learned to make it work even better on those large heavy loads.

I have one of those. Get you a 4x8 sheet of shower board, very slick stuff and lay it in the bed and run the unloader fabric on top. I have moved 2 Ton- 4000 pounds of rock, easy peasy.
Good idea!
6:57 definitely what it looked like when I tried to unload my one yard of moist compost.
Picking one up tomorrow. Put a regular tarp under the unloading mat. That way you can easily pull out the debris that the mat doesn’t pull out.
yeup thanks, good luck👍
Thank you!
Tommy Fluker you’re welcome, thanks for watchin!
The i card! Yay!!!
I have a delivery business that does a lot of building materials. Were you able to fabricate your own bar to work with this? Or is there a heavy duty version of this somewhere? Is the "tarp" that comes with it replaceable. So if it does get torn I get replace it with something off the self instead of re buying an unloader each time? I have yet to buy one. But could you combine some kind of setup with Locking Hand Crank Dump Truck Trailer Tarp Roller? When looking at this item on amazon it tells me people looking at the unloader look at this too.
Hi, thanks for watch'n! I never got around to fabricating my own bar, It recently bowed on me, I bent it back and it worked through another job. I have yet to see a heavy duty version. I do not believe that the tarp is replaceable, I will say the tarp has held up quite nicely for me, its the only thing I have not had to fix on my undloader. Let me know if you end up making a stronger version of this, I may have to buy one off ya.
Nice video. Did the clamps damage / dent your tail gate?
not at all,, they were perfectly contoured👍 thanks for watchin!
I'm guessing that the bar is hollow, if so I wonder if you can slip a piece of rebar in it to stiffen it up?
yea I could probably fit a three-quarter inch galvanized pipe in it
Hmmm do you think this would be adaptable to the HF 4x8 Folding Trailer?
Poor Johnn I thought about that too! I believe you can if you were to bolt a 2 x 4 horizontal along the back of the trailer but you would want to make sure you have it secured very well.! If you try it please let me know how it turns out and send a picture. Thanks for watching
The handle would be too long as the trailer doesn't sit up high enough to go around in a complete circle. You can shorten the handle but then the leverage to actually turn the mechanism gets decreased.
@@ericklaiber9168 Perhaps some sort of ratcheting system can be done. I will give it some thought Thanks

Have you ever tried using it for removal projects? I’m thinking about getting 7.5’ ramps and using the electric wheelbarrow to get landscaping waste off customers property up into the pickup. I think the ramp might be tricky with bar sticking out pst the tailgate.
good question, i would probably disconnect the bar and let it hang down off the tailgate to allow placing the ramps on the tailgate . also put something thin down under the contact area of the ramps on the tailgate to protect the slip sheet! you can reconnect after👍
I have had the ORIGIONAL Load Handler for over 15 years . Harbor freight sells it now that the patent is over . BTW it did not work well because of the tarp causing more friction . the sheet and the bed liner is enough . hand scoop the load from behind the wheel wells as it will LOCK the load . doing this it will unload with ease . then hop in the bed and sweep it out .
wow I’m surprised you’ve had it for 15 years and it still works? I wonder if the original was better than Harbor freight‘s version.thanks for the input
@@WorknDirt The load handler crank bar is straight I never noticed the shaft bar bend . twice I have had people not think and stand on it jumping off the tail gate and break the tail gate clamp in which I ordered new hardware ( long time ago you could get metal clamps ) I still have the original sheet , bar and handle . I just used it to unload a whole cut up deck that I brought to the dump that my 4'8" girlfriend unloaded . with all the videos I would say spend twice as much and buy the original load handler as it looks like the bar flexing is a big problem .
@tgr822 .. Thank you SO much for the tips. I'm getting one tomorrow.
Awesome job . I’m in .
thanks man good luck!
This thing is now listed for $69 from your link. Did you ever modify with a more durable bar?
I never upgraded to a bigger bar but i did up end up welding the bar to the handle because we broke the slot it goes in .. Check to see if harbor freight is close to you because they still sell it for $45 and you can use a 20% coupon. They also have cheap shipping .. thanks for watchin
I'm guessing the bar is a certain thickness for a liability if it was thicker it may damage the tailgate over the hinges
very good point! but its a chevy , so its "built like a ROCK " lol thanks for watchin
@@WorknDirt like a rock.
You ever get around to replacing that rod?
The Whiskey Gunner no I haven’t. It recently snapped at the the point where the crank bar goes in. I welded it back together, so far it has held through a few uses. Thanks for watchin !
That's the most I've seen someone struggle with one of those.
Michael Smith 1.5 to 2yards of material moved by a cheap mechanism is sure to make many struggle lol. My girlfriend finally snapped it and i had to weld it ! thanks for watchin!
I think the tarp actually made it worse. I'd rather take five minutes and sweep it out when I'm done, or get a leaf blower and do it, if it means I'm not struggling just getting the load out of the bed in the first place. JMO. Thanks for the video!
@@justlooking4771 Agreed. The material the tarp is made from will wrinkle and bind with most other materials. Definitely wouldn't use a tarp under it.
I think your blue tarp may have been causing some extra drag....
yeah possibly, but it’s so helpful to pick up the crumbs at the end with it so it’s a trade-off, if you didn’t have it you’ll spend A bit of time cleaning out the bed. Thanks for watching!
By truck is tared in the back…will it run in the bed floor ok
You'll probably want to use a tarp for add slippage if you have tar on your truck bed?
@@WorknDirt Thank you watch
Thank you much
Couldn’t you add a motor to do the turning for you
That would be nice, thanks for watch'n!
Do you think It will work with Rhino lining in bed? Hauling landscaping shrubbery. Ed
Works best with a slick bed, you could try putting down a tarp first then the unloader material. Thanks for watch'n!
@@WorknDirt i don't think he watched, 'cause you covered that in the vid.! :)
Unfortunately it doesnt fit my 2017 Titan as the tailgate kinda flares out. Even on the last bolt tab at its widest it still was a bitch to get it on..
dang, im sorry to hear that, thats the only truck i've heard it not fit on so far..
Needs another strap for the tailgate...
Yep, duh. Why in the hell wouldn't they include one?!
@@ArbitraryLifestyle
Especially considering all of the torque created with all of that weight...
If the bar breaks you're gonna punch yourself in the face.
Turning that high torque lever could potentially cause a rotator cuff tear.
very true, thats why i like to stay fit so i can endure the peak stresses i put on my body. thanks for watchin!
It might be faster hand shoveling...
haha yes it might be, but when you have several yards of material to move it definitely saves your back. Thanks for watch'n!
