Here is a question. Can you keep 16:9 aspect while recording vertically. Some times if you try to stick it to a wall you can only keep orientation vertical and hence it recording vertically only.
What about over heating another of ppl are saying this action 2 camera is rubbish bec it over heats after like 10 mins of recording
@@jasonlaughton7590 that's an over exaggeration. You can see test done in closed environment and the camera run over 50min straight. If your looking for a camera to run indoor for hours better go for Sony dslr for door GoPro and DJI are your best bet. Put a case over it so you don't feel the heat it that bothers but it's a great compact camera and for short shorts it's amazingly good.

Outstanding video! Thank you for clearing up a bunch of questions I had about my new A2. I'm especially pleased to know the app allows me to keep all the RAW photos. Now I can make some star trail photos with my A2.

Great tour round the options! Some nitpicks -
- battery levels of both modules are seen if you tap the battery level display in the top right corner
- in the storage menu there is an option to copy from the internal memory onto the SD card (if you have one!)
- "Screen off when locked" is useful for ensuring that the front screen only works when you need it - you don't then show everyone in front of the camera what you are shooting and you don't waste battery on illuminating a screen you can't see. When you do activate the front screen, the rear screen turns off. I'd strongly recommend having this setting "on".
- during playback there's a swipeable volume control. Good luck finding it.
Here the Mimo app no longer works with my devices so I won't comment on that section! DJI please fix that....

Thanks, Chris! Great job and better than reading the manual! I now know my Action 2! By the way, if you are in Snapshot mode, you can stop it from turning off automatically when you stop a recording by touching the orange window that says "Turning off in 3 seconds." Then it's easier to change settings or disengage the Snapshot mode.

You have probably figured this out by now, but when snapshot is enabled a quick press of the button will start or stop recording. A long press (around three seconds) will start it normally without recording.

This video was really helpful. I had one another question though which hasn't been discussed anywhere yet. When recording at 1080p at 240 fps or 4K 120 fps the video format automatically adapts to HVEC instead of H264. Is this common across all DJI Action 2 devices? And if we convert HVEC to H264 before edit will there be any noticeable difference if used for professional use?

Where are the RAW files on my Action 2 after I finish a timelapse? All I see is the video. On the Mimo App I have the timelapse setting set to RAW+Video. Thanks!
With the quickshot issue I do a quick press and it starts up and records. If I do a long press it just starts without recording.

Great guide. I was wondering why my camera filming looked dark when filming indoors room then was okay when outside when using Normal Colour mode. When changing to D-Cinematic it was okay. Anyways, from your video @ 13:00 I learnt it was the ISO setting, even when set to Auto it only goes within that range set, was 100-400 in my case. Changed it to 100-12800 and all good now. I only got the camera yesterday and finding your explanation very useful.
when it fell off the chest mount, did u have the dual screen module attached?
I think the magnet on the main camera is strong but the one's on the modules are a bit weak

Is there this or any other camera, that can work sort of as a quick pocket camera. My use case is that I want to take photos (yes, regular photos) but quickly and perhaps also make small videos on the go, perhaps on a bike or even a car but while riding/driving. So what I want it a remote or voice activated function, that can click a snap and start/stop video recording or start recording videos that automatically stop after predefined time - and all this handsfree (through the remote or voice). I am not a content creator, i just want hassle free basic memories of my trips, just like the world used to (but with a little more convenience).

What settings would you use for skiing and for instagram reels?
Chris, I do have a question for you or anyone who knows... presenting the resolution/fps choices at 17:10 you say, "The most common setting you will likely use is 4K/16:9/60fps. Using 16:9 you can use it straight out of the camera. But if you use 4K/4:3 you will probably want to edit it to go on either a 16:9 Timeline or, if shooting vertical, you need to edit to a vertical Timeline."
►Being new, I thought 24fps is the most common fps used and 60 or 120fps is used to post edit into slow motion on a 24fps Timeline. If true, how do you use 16:9/60 fps right out of the camera?
►On your 2nd point, Why do you suggest to edit 4:3 video on a 16:9 Timeline? Maybe this is related to requirements social media sites have? For only home/personal viewing of vlogging and action, it is not relevant to me, right?

Question: clips on my action 2 are for ex 30 min long, I can view them in full lenght...but on sd card they are 3 min clips x 10. Why ? Is there a method to export them i full lenght?

Any way to setup kind of shooting presets?
For instance, when turning on and the press to shoot shoot 4k super wide rocksteady.
Option 2 long hold shutter button for wuick capture and there go for 4k 120fps horizon steady?
Any way to program it like that?

Just tap the button again to stop the timer or just touch the screen

great video man very well done i have 1 question when i have mine in the sim rig cage and have mounted sideways the video footage isn't wide it comes out 4:3 even though its set to 16:9 it just doesn't fill the screen on playback i thought it would record same sideways as it does upright do you have any idea's
*Chris, thank you for doing this full internal camera settings video. The idea a company as esteemed and as accomplished in camera design and innovation, such as DJI, would release a camera with software written to actually embrace a clear camera malfunction as overheating, then indicate in its menu settings how long you have before the camera malfunctions and shuts down, blows my mind ! 👀💁 What the fuck is up with that ? If Canon Cameras can release a firmware update which actually solved the EOS R5's overheating issues, then why not can't DJI come out with a firmware fix, which at least increases the Action 2's overall running times in record mode ?*

Hi Chris - I dismissed the Action 2 initially after watching a few reviews months ago, especially one that compared it to the iPhone 13, the lowlight looked dreadful. But Ive just watched the Hybrid Shooters latest review on the Action 2. He days the dynamic range has been improved since the last firmware update, is this your experience as well.
dude by this camera if you need a small little cool hidden camera type of deal i wear mine when im at work its discreet... so ask yourself do you need to be discreet?

The Camera itself and quality is really good……BUT
It FELL OFF from the magnetic Lanyard from just moderate activity of riding a bicycle.
And with such incredible luck… it FELL exactly when I was crossing a small wooden bridge and right into the river water 😭😭😭
So, now I still have the front camera module and all the other accessories. So should I sell those parts or maybe wait for a sale and get another…. Unfortunately, they don’t just sell the camera unit itself. Also, I am not sure if I have the confident in it anymore.
It branded as an action camera and the magnetic lanyard function was one of the driving feature which attracted me for the purchase.
If it cannot handle the role of an action camera, they should put a big disclaimer saying the magnetic lanyard CAN ONLY BE USE for slowly walking and have a high chance of falling off with activities!! So I am pretty about that and how DJI advertise it as an action camera and with footage of its use with the lanyard being able to handle rigorous activities.
Anyway, perhaps I should just sell the Dual Screen module and get a GoPro instead.
As I said early on, the camera quality is very good but don’t rely on it as an action camera. DJI should take out that lanyard magnetic option to help others avoid the loss that I experienced with just moderate activities.
Seems to take a lot of damage for an Action cam?! Seen a couple of first impressions videos and they all seem to have damaged it already?!
Yeah it’s not durable at all. I dropped it once from chest height and it smashed up the screen. I actually ended up buying a GoPro instead - already dropped that and it’s fine!

I’ve come to the conclusion that this camera is more hassle than its worth, looks nice & promising but the issues keep popping up. Battery life is terrible, when filming external battery charges the camera which means it’s charging & discharging at the same time. Then when you are filming you choose internal or external memory, if the memory fills the camera stops recording & I wonder why can’t it realise memory is running out & switch to the other memory if attached. The other issue I’ve had is when downloading footage from the camera it occasionally disconnects from the app, I’m wondering if the camera gets hot & shuts off. Seriously disappointed with the camera 🤔
