Que conmovedor!!!!...Un recuerdo y homenaje al Maestro Zoltan Kocksis.....

Re the opening everybody recognizes as the 2nd Mov of his 2nd Concerto: I theorize that Rach, coming out his depression thanks to Dr. Dahl's treatment, needed a piano concerto for a concert he promised London and, trying to find some material, remembered this piece. Recognizing that the opening figure was genius, but that the melody wasn't up to par, he took just the figure. It's notable that when he started composing the concerto he started with the 2nd mov. then the 3rd and finally the 1st.

I remember first hearing the 2nd Piano Concerto as a six-year-old child, but not really noticing the music until the 3rd movement. I became enamored of the 3rd movement first, then of the 2nd movement, and finally of the 1st. So thanks for the information that he composed the 2nd movement first, then the 3rd movement, and then the 1st! Listening is much easier than composing except to a child who is laying new music tracks in her brain!

Very romantic for six elderly hands with a girl. Rachmaninoff always sounds great.

The closest we'll get to hearing a "Piano Concerto for Six Hands"

  • @JJTownley_Classical-Composer

Every time she flipped the page I heard mistakes. ;-)
Seriously, the Romance is a beauty, but I would expect no less from Rachmaninoff.

Music doesn't have to be perfect. I'd much prefer to have the passion and emotions in a piece and a few wrong notes, as opposed to a coldly perfect performance. This performance moved me, so the lack of clarity in places doesn't bother me.

This was very nice, but the performance, especially in the first movement, lacked the rich texture that associates with Rachmaninov.

@felipilloo1984 And the awesome thing is that she has to lean over them from time to time, so you can look at her rue de l'amour :)
