AAA so nostalgic watching the I Don't Need Your Love animatic again... glad to see you enjoying some of my older work! Haha!
Whooooo fist replay to the queen of animation
GIGI! I am never disappointed in what you bring to the table, it’s incredible every time. Thanks for all the amazing work you’ve given to the musical theater community and for the support you continue to show on my videos!
OH! GIGI, HEY, WASSUP, GIRL! I didn't release you've be here as well, I liked your SIX animatic. Btw, I like you animatics for SIX & EPIC.
Gigi when I FIND YOU!
Your animatic was the first time I cried during this song, and I thought I was good, until i watched it again through this video
Hey Gigi, u always do the best animatics
“GIGI LET ME FEEL JOY” made it perfect 😂
Catherine Parr survived Henry, sure. But she didn't last that long after. She married Thomas Seymour (Jane's brother), and had a daughter from him, after which she died from past-partum complications. What happened to the child is unknown.
She wasn't entirely happy in her 4th marriage though. Elizabeth actually was staying with her at the time and to be fair, Cath was a good stepmother to her. Thomas though... let's just say, he preyed on Elizabeth, yikes. She was sent away after Catherine found out, to protect her.
Catherine was the first english woman to publish a book by her own name and she was devout protestant, which nearly turned the rhyme into "-divorced, beheaded, beheaded". She debated religion with Henry and angered the men of the court by talking back to them and arguing her points with them. They were planning to arrest her, but she found out about it early and played to Henry's ego, saying she was only a silly girl trying to distract him from things bothering him and to learn from him, and ofc he bought it 🙄
What happened to Catherine's body is what's the most awful. Short version: her corpse got mutilated by some less than savory people multiple times over a few years after it was discovered. Nowadays she has a proper tomb, replica of images of the first one that was lost
I was just about to comment the same thing, Thomas really became uncle bad touch, but at least a lot of people also thought it was bad at the time
According to my history class, what Thomas did could have been a rumor spread from Edward/Mary to get Elizabeth out of the house and imprison her due to her claim on the throne. Not saying it didn't happen, I wouldn't be surprised, but I was under the impression that it was more of an open mystery.
@@anastasija6866 Yah. Elizabeth was still pretty young, like 14. And while she was technically of age, the whole thing gave everybody the ick. Now, if you use speculation, it wasn't just a sexual attraction to her, but it had to do with him trying to groom her for power. Her brother Edward was king. And the Seymour's had pretty much unchecked power during his reign. But he was nine, so the Seymour's really wanted Edward to kick Mary out of succession and list Elizabeth as his heir instead. Tomas had also proposed to Elizabeth. And if Elizabeth was inclined to a Seymour, then they kept the power of the crown. Now his downfall was his fighting with his brother, who had more power over his nephew them him. Which led to him trying to kidnap his nephew, which led to an integration of Elizabeth because of his relationship with her, which is why we know of any of his creepy relationship with her because of the integration records.
Thank you for the info, but I dont think this will be good for Mortius's mental stability.
@@dayanahenriquez6874what mental stability? Bro lost it after epic
Me, every time a new video on six comes out: "fine I'll listen to SIX again"
So real
True
THE END IS COMING
OMG THANKS YOU MORTIUS FOR A ❤
Nooooooo i dont want it to end
🎶 For one more week, we’re SIX 😭

Spongebob the musical reference /j
Allow me to ruin her “happy ending”. She did marry Thomas Semour after Henry died. But Thomas Semour not only tried to get with Princess Elizabeth (Parr’s ward), but historians are pretty sure he tried physically as well. And Elizabeth was 14 at the time. He attempted to get complete control over his then-dying nephew, King Edward, and was found guilty of treason and executed.
So yeah… turns out he was a toad as well.
I can't believe she managed to downgrade from Henry VIII.
I heard she also died from post-partum complications and had her corpse violated many times afterwards :/

Why do I imagine Mortius just sitting in the same room with the queens like some counselor/therapist and watching these queens argue with each other? Love it! 🤣🤣
To whoever wrote the captions: I love the addition of [Sad Mortius Sounds]
Me casually waiting for the reaction to the song Six
Me too
Ohhh I hope he also reacted to MEGA-six
@@greycat_2280 sameeeeeeee MEGA six is so good
There's also a bit of dialogue between the queens between "we'd all disappear" and when the other queens join in.
I love this song as true feminism. No longer tying their identity to one man and letting men pit them against each other and coming together as a true sisterhood
There's a dialogue scene that takes place right before all the other queens join in. I still think the 2018 tour is the best version of the show, but I don't know if anyone's animated that scene from that production. It starts after Parr sings "disppear," with Anne saying "Wait, I don't get it."
it's my favourite part! when anne says "ohh i get it (a very impressive explanation) yeah, i read!", it's so sassy and brilliant, i wish he'd react to that part
Because the only thing we have in common is our husband, grouping us is an inherently comparative act and as such, necessarily elevates a historical perspective ingrained in patriarchal structures.
Anne and Cathrine hugging when they threw their rings down is so heart wrenching when in fact Cathrine resented Anne because anne was the mistress that Henry left her for
I am so hoping Mortius reacts to “MegaSIX” afterwards. It’s the true finale song from the musical and, in some shows, they allow the audience to film them, so there’s a lot of them out there on CZcams. It would be the perfect ending to this SIX journey
27:26 i'm so happy you said this!! A rather cynical take i've seen on this part of the song is that even now, parr isn't allowed to have a song to herself and will always be tied to the other queens. But i've always interpeted it as her finally allowing the other queens to join her of her own volition rather than being all lumped together by historians.
After learning who these amazing women are, I agree with Parr. It’s not fair they’re only known as Henry’s “six wives”. They have incredible stories, put up with and went through so much, and accomplished great things, yet they don’t go into detail about them in any history classes. Just “Oh yeah, there was King Henry VIII and he had six wives. Next historical person.”
I, for one, didn’t even know their names or the little “divorced, beheaded, died. Divorced, beheaded, survived” until I heard Ex-Wives.
I can’t wait for you to hear Six! You are going to LOVE it!!!!
Don't forget to react "six" song and "megasix" song
??? why would he forget?
@@draeonic To be fair, Megasix was show exclusive as it's not on the tracklist (at least...at the time, might have changed since then)
@@Starryflame I'll grant you Megasix, but Six?
first time ive cried over ‘i dont need your love’ in a WHILE. gigiwhenicatchyougigiwhenicatchyou
At 26:11 there is a double meaning to the line it can be 'in history' or 'in His story.'
"Thomas" is Thomas Seymour, Jane's brother, btw. The good news is, she was able to finally marry him after Henry kicked the bucket. The bad news is, she seemed more in love than he did...The teenage Princess Elizabeth (future Queen Elizabeth the 1st; Anne Boleyn's daughter with Henry) lived with them for a bit. And Thomas was uncomfortably handsy with Elizabeth...It got to the point where Cathy Parr thought it was best to send Elizabeth to reside somewhere else.
Since the teenage King Edward VI was already his nephew thru Jane, it's probable that a large part of the reason that he married Cathy Parr, after Henry's death, had more to do with Cathy being the King Henry's lawful widow & King Edward's stepmother, than love. He wanted to further gain influence in court and over-take his older brother (who had essentially been made King Edward's regent, until he came of age) in political importance. He made no secret of the fact that he wanted to be ever closer & favourable to the child king, to exert his influence over him....and the actions he took to do so, cost him HIS head.
And, like your editor pointed out, Cathy soon followed him to the grave, dying from post-natal complications, much like Jane.
Anyway, I'm glad the musical chose to end her story on a high note (literally)!
You can hear CP's inspiration in the rhythm and the vocal runs. Alicia Keys, with Emilie Sande.
She was probably the most learned of the queens, and she encouraged her minor stepchildren (Elizabeth & Edward) to study. Without her influence, Elizabeth would likely not have been equipped to inspire a Golden Age in their country.
Henry seemed to respect Catherine Parr in a way that he didn't respect most of the others. Catherine of Aragon was a skilled tactician, and Anne Boleyn understood foreign policy. Had he been willing to listen to these three as advisors, he would have had a brilliant court even beyond what he had.
This is my favorite animatic of this song
If you're taking recs for what musical to do after this one, I *highly* recommend Starry, a beautiful musical about Van Gogh that I haven't seen a lot of people cover. Or alternatively; In The Heights, since I know you are a big Hamilton enjoyer.
20:56 love you talking about the placement of these notes. To me it always felt like a “pulling feeling” like someone who doesn’t want to move and is being dragged forward. The words and melody are almost being pulled along instead of bouncing forward with the song.
Between the end of the solo and the start of when the other queens join in there is a really important conversation. Essentially it sums up the point of the musical. I would love if you could find and react to an animatic of it.
27:49 "Im so happy right now. Im not listening" that is so me, i understand you man
"the emotional whiplash that it must be to actually watch this show in person is wild to me" i knowwww i just bought tickets for their international tour for october and i cant wait for the emotions and laughter to flood in real time 😭
You should consider Come From Away next. Its an interesting story about something that happened on a very sad day.based on a true story.
Yes!!!
One of the best parts is that Mega Six isn't included on the album, and you are actually encouraged to pull out your phone and record it. (With one of the queens usually stealing a phone from the front row and taking it on stage to film, re covid at least). So you can find tons of Mega Six live videos because of this and it is super fun to watch! It was genious marketing!
I don't know if you knew this but here is a fun fact: Did you know that Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard were both first cousins. It also had to be a coincidence that they were both married to Henry and beheaded + buried in the exact same place. That was something I just found out!!!
Great reaction as always! even if you don't make a video for it, you should check out the dialogues in between the main song and the remix (when the other queens come in). It contains essential lines and context that explains the true message of the musical. 😃
20:10 I don’t know how much music theory knowledge you have, but it’s great you’re picking up on things like that, the only thing is that this section is most likely in a slower “2” feel, you were counting a quick 4.
Please consider doing Hadestown!!
I mean do whatever you want, of course 😅. But Hadestown is so interesting to couple with Epic!
You mean Poseidontown
This song amways makes me cry, because I'm just imagining the real queens somehow being able to time travel and see this show, they'd absolutely love it.
Gigi's I Don't Need Your Love animatic makes me so nostalgic because it was my first Gigi animatic I ever saw!!! I still remember when they posted the Warrior of Mind demo animatic and I was like: "Omg, Gigi likes EPIC too! I'm sure that his will just be a one off thing though..."
I hope you watch one of the live MegaSix performances too, they’re so wholesome and I love it as a wrap up to the show
I love the thought and emotion you put in your reactions. Your outbursts and expressiveness brings a light to my day each time I see you; and helps me feel more comfortable being the feral little gremlin that I am. Thank you for keeping with this, and I’m so glad you enjoyed this as much as I did. I can’t wait to see your reaction to the finale!
Can't wait for the last song "six". Thank you for your reactions, they are great!
If you’re looking for other musical to react to May I recommend:
- Ride the Cyclone
- Heathers
- 35 mm
- Dear Evan Hanson
- RENT
The first four definitely have modern fan appeal, but RENT is an oldie but a goodie!
Yay! Can’t wait for this vid 😊
Unfortunately Thomas Seymour, the man Katherine Parr loved (also a relative of Jane Seymour) liked to stalk and assault teenage Elizabeth
He would wait for her in her bedroom, pinch her body, and even tore her dress to pieces on the garden grounds of the palace
It's said that Katherine held Elizabeth while this happened; but it's unclear whether she was held in an attempt to protect her or held down so Thomas could rip her dress more easily
I think it was to protect since she even sent Elizabeth away so she wouldn't have to go through that any longer
I’m so excited for the finale (Six) and the encore (MegaSix)!
Catherine parr was the only other queen besides Catherine of aragon to rule England in Henry's absence.
You should totally do Heathers next for musical Mondays. I would love your analysis for it. Much love! ❤
The end of I Don't Need Your Love makes me sob
WE GETTIN A GOLD STAR FOR CATHY PARR WITH THIS ONE🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Yes I’m doing this for every song💀
Loooove this reaction, and amazing animatic! I would have really loved for you to watch a live version, as there is a talking part in between the song, but this was really good too!
This is amazing!!! I can't wait for your reaction to the last song of six where it's a revamp of the first song but there's no discord between the 6 of them
I found Mortius through EPIC, and after seeing Six yesterday, I knew I needed to come watch all of these. This series has been great! I'm glad you (mostly) have enjoyed Six.
I’d highly recommend looking at Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. It’s another musical set in England but in the city of Sheffield (up in the north). It’s about a 16yr old boy who wants to be a drag queen. There’s a lot of the show on CZcams with the original West End cast, both the songs and dialogue together. Just a warning with the dialogue is that it’s in a Sheffield accent which is confusing to hear if you aren’t used to the accent and/or have trouble processing audio. Also trigger warning for homophobia, some racism and bullying if you do decide to check it out. Well worth a watch I’m my opinion.
I LITERALLY JUST WATCHED THIS SHOW IN PERSON AND IT WAS INCREDIBLE! I LOVED THE BROADWAY ACTRESSES AND SEEING THEM IRL WAS INSANELY GOOD!
Aaaaaaaaaaand that's my favourite song of the whole musical ❤
I have been waiting forever and i love this so much.
I actually really liked that my first time listening to I don't need your love was without the introduction, because it created a plot twist of her talking to Thomas and not Henry, which had me shookith!
i dont need your love is one of my favorite songs! after you finish six i would recommend (if you havent already) ride the cyclone its one of my favorite musiscals and i imagine youd enjoy it :) great video as always!
"PARODY: SIX Queens on Broadway [February 2020 version]" you can see the whole in person show in this video.
don't worry babe the tender saga of epic the musical is out
Can't wait to see your reaction to the final one.
I love the name of the new duo channel but I do have a question. Are you not nervous it will be hard for viewers to find you by name since the song from epic is the same name? Not trying to come off in any negative way, I’ve been told my text tone is bad but I genuinely just want to know your thoughts on it.
Glad to see you recovered. Wait until you see six and megasix. A sweet song followed by a perfect finale that combines all the songs.
ive heard this song so many times but this is the first time with proper context and an animatic had me balling my eyes out
I know we haven't finished Six yet and that there are more musicals lined up, but I really hope this type of reaction doesn't die down after that because I really wanna see Mortius listen to others such as ; Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, as well as others such as 26 Questions, Ride The Cyclone, etc, I know those three are basic ones but there are just so many good musicals that I wish for more people to be aware of.
PLEASE REACT TO SIX THE MUSICAL ON TINY DESK !!!! THAT WAS THE FIRST US TOUR CAST THAT IS NOT THE CURRENT BROADWAY CAST!!! THEY ARE SOOO GOOD AND IT ISNT THAT LONG OF A SHOW MAYBE 15 MINUTES
There is a big long and very important discussion between the queens that happens before they join in in I don’t need your love, its so important that it presents the point and the message of the entire show, but unfortunately no one has made an animatic of that scene
AHHH I CANT WAIT FOR THE END 😭
I´M CRYING MY EYES OUT!!!!! 💔💔💔💔💔💔 Thank you
I SAW THIS ON LIVE BUT I DIDN'T FULLY SE IT SO THIS IS SO COOL!
Mortius you are really great at talking about music and different kind sinning and beats with the music. And telling storys. Amazing job. Keep up the good work. ^v^
Hey, there is actually a speaking part that happens partway through this song onstage. It is just before the other queens come in. I'll see if there are any animatics for it.
Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any animatics. The only way of watching it for a reaction would be finding a recorded stage version of the song.
I absolutely do not condone illegal recordings on this channel
If you find a copy of it and send it here, I’ll know to avoid it in the future 😁
Of these uncondoned videos that you will be avoiding, I have found one with Spanish that gets plastered across the screen or a full show recording. Which one should I put here so you know to avoid it?
czcams.com/video/3s0TybjFFDo/video.htmlsi=H7AJw0MDhBIxzXGd
This is a full recording, the speaking part starts at 1:03:20. This is the one I could find where the viewing is easiest, but it's still not great. The audio should be good though.
czcams.com/video/mpI36EFXqiY/video.htmlsi=-TQScYNwno4yfoKE
Just found this, which is insane. Somebody animated the whole musical. The speech part happens at 57:40 in this one.
Loving your reactions, this was such an amazing show to see live and it's great to see others enjoying it (and the beautiful animatics)! I really hope you're still planning on reacting to Beetlejuice, I saw the tour and it very unexpectedly became my new favorite!
7:41 Ha, ha... Mr. editor 🙄😂
please do legally blonde musical! the whole filmed version is available on youtube its actually like crazzyyyy good for it being a movie to musical adaptation. dare i say, its even better than the source material
Good news and bad news. The good news is, that is literally and ironically my favorite musical of all time, so you can feel very validated in that opinion. The bad news is, that means I know it so deeply and thoroughly that a first-time reaction would be impossible
… maybe I can introduce Casper to it one day though :)
@@officialmortius HAHA omg no way
If you still haven't decided what musical to do after this (I know you record these a long time in advance) I'd HIGHLY recommend Hadestown. I know it was on the list, and it is honestly amazing.
Ok I binged all 7 videos today. I can't wait for the last ep. One cool thing about the show is that the band behind the ladies are all women so no man is on stage during the show.
Now only remains the Finale. Six always feels so short compared to all the other Musicals.
What makes her being picked by Henry more terrible was due to her previous 2 marriages she was one of the wealthiest woman in England at the time, so she was in the unique position to get married for love instead of convenience
You should do Ride the Cyclone next !!! I think you will enjoy it !!
It is sad that without Henry, we probably would t know about too many of these women and their accomplishments. Even with their personal flaws- the girls were heavy hitters in their age! Several of them outwitted the game and encouraged a better quality of life for other women.
In saying that- how EMBARRASSING is Henry's legacy? An anger prone, fit throwing king who fancied himself akin to the heroes of grand love ballads (a hopeless romantic, if you care to be charitable) if he could ONLY find the right woman to be his...except whenever he had a wife, no matter how dutiful, he grew bored with them and was a regular practitioner of infidelity. Funny how that makes him quite the hypocrite, seeing as he executed Anne and Katherine on charges of infidelity. The nobles of his day and age were so in the know, even in different countries, that they grew cautious.
We know him today as the king least able to keep it in his pants. Gluttony, his great flaw in all aspects of his life. Gout riddled at the end of his life, around 400 pounds to where it was difficult to get him to fit inside of his coffin. Folklore turning into history that his body exploded and/or leaked fluids through the failed soldering.
People were paid handsomely to pray for him.
The Queen's come off with much better legacies than good old Henry.
I’m so sad I missed the premiere due to the stupid hurricane! 😭
Please dont forget "MegaSix"!
I didn’t ☺️
If you like historical musicals and musicals that make you feel so many complicated and conflicting emotions at the same time then I highly recommend Assassins by Steven Sondheim. It's my favorite of his musicals and that's a hell of a high bar. I'd love to see you react to the soundtrack!
Yeah, Catherine Parr was widowed multiple times, but to be fair, they were all a lot older than her when she was arranged to be married to them. Unfortunately for her, Thomas Seymour was pretty much like the guys in Katherine Howard's song. He was definitely not different. While he was married to Catherine Parr, he molested Elizabeth who was a young teen at the time. Sometimes with Catherine's help, since she was foolishly in love with him and tricked herself into believing he was just teasing Elizabeth. She even held onto Elizabeth while Thomas took a sword and cut her dress off of her. Yeeeah, your standard "It was just a prank, bro!" BS.
And after Catherine was dead, he started a scheme to try to marry Elizabeth since she had been put back into the line of succession. Oh, and he tried to kidnap young King Edward (Henry and Jane's son who succeeded him) and killed the boy's dog when it wouldn't stop barking during the kidnapping attempt. Thankfully, he was executed. He was NOT a good guy.
I'd love to see you talk about Ride The Cyclone if you've never given its soundtrack a listen before
The Fun thing about this, In the Queen Fight Catherine Parr Was Supposed to sing A different Song Actually! And she Stopped it and thats when she started to speak, then before the other queens Started to sing, They Had a Speaking Part Where they all knew how messed up it is to compare all the queens so they made a fake competition to further elaborate that! So I Suggest To Check out The Broadway Version of both the Queen fight and I don't need your love!
Awesome videos as always, I have a recommendation for you to watch, ad infinitum by stupendium is an absolute sensory overload of a song, i think it would be a fun reaction!
Do the "six"and live action megasix from six the musical the final song trust me you will not be disappointed😅
Mortius, if you get the chance, listen to Greensleeves after "Six" and "Megasix"
It is by now relatevely accepted that henry must have had some sort of genetic disease that meant his 'fishes' din't swim right, which would explain the extreme number of miscarriages in his wifes.
He clearly wasn't entirely infertile as he had three children who lived to adulthood that are most definitly confirmed, but those were probably the lucky outliers instead of the norm.
So the miscarriages were his plugs not fitting correctly in the hole.
At some point you should watch Ride the Cyclone! It’s a super creative premise and has lots of styles of songs
Ahhhh you're so close to the end of six, loved your reactions! But if you are looking for new musicals I think you might enjoy Hadestown (it is a retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice story, if you don't know it yet) or Anastasia. Another interesting, but a bit more on the funny side musical is Beetlejuice. There's also Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812, which is an underrated gem. If you are looking for something a bit different, there's also a musical based on Death Note, which I really enjoyed.
Ride the cyclone next?
Can you react to Outsiders next??? I don’t know if there’s any animatics but the musical is soo good!
5:59 😳……whooooooa. Seymour, you are a ticking time bomb.
Do you know about the outro for SIX called Megasix?
ok… i have no idea how much into musical theatre and broadway you are, but have you seen Into The Woods? It’s a phenomenal timeless piece that brings so many ways of thinking into scrutiny, and is full of emotion, despair, hope, and adventure. Please check it out if you haven’t! There’s a full recording of the original broadway production on youtube, I highly advise against the disney movie.
Hey there! New subscriber. Six is one of my favorites!! There is so much rich history there, BUT my reason for commenting. If you haven’t listening to MegaSIX yet, please do ❤
