Hay Andrew, i have not bought a troopy yet but this is my next goal. Buy it, modify it (if possibility to accommodate a family of 2 adults and 2 kids) and go exploring. I would never had that car on my top list if i did not watch your trips. I can feel how much you trust this vehicle and i trust your judgment.
Andrew, I just wanted to say I really appreciate your videos they are really the best overloading videos out there. there are some fun Australian productions but I just really like how real your presentation is, no bullshit, no embellishment, just what you see is what it is. great stuff.
In Cape Town when you see a troopy it is usually a camper like your originall trooper. And when go to a 4x4 store people say on some products it is recommended by Andrew. And that's why our LC76 straight six has bfgs on.

I owned a V8 Troopie before I found your channel. Still got it and still love doing mods on it. Awesome car that has NEVER left me stranded whether in the outback, beaches or high country. Hi Andrew, at the time, I couldn’t afford a Troopy, so I bought a new FJ Cruiser (so, it’s still a Toyota!!). I have since fitted it out with many of the products you mention. It’s now a kickass overlanding rig and I love it! Thanks for the inspiration!!!

We have been watching for a while. My dad owned one of the first hard tops in Australia. Through watching the canning and build videos. We just ordered our first Troopy with great ideas to create our grand tourer. Very excited

Hi Andrew. I didn’t buy a troopy but I did buy an FJ cruiser after your review of it in SA. Great review, sold me and the Misses, and we have had it ever since. If I had the $ I would get a troopy and do a conversion very similar to you. Keep the great vids coming - watch the same day you post.

me and 2 other lads travelled all the way round oz for 4 months in 1990 with just a rucksack each and a big cardboard box for food and a bag of spanners in an old ford falcon no need to convert your truck into a heavy furniture van, only 1 puncture and a leaky rad we nursed with raw eggs, easy.
Hi Andrew. I am sure if you had picked the engine revs up to 1500rpm the alternator would then have kicked in to it's maximum output whatever it is rated at, in your case, by the sound of it. 40amps. At idle without having first "excited" the alternator you were doing well to get the 20 amps. Hope this makes sense. Thanks for the great vids....

Iv been looking to buy a troopy for over 2 years and came across your videos during the research and that confirmed it for me so as of 2 weeks ago I bought a great condition 1 owner troopy and I love it the build will begin soon enough.

thanks for you videos, I would have bought a Toyota Troopy, if they were still available in Europe!
Instead I went for a Land Rover Defender 110, but the actual build (Alucap pop up roof, awning, tires and internal layout) was heavily inspired by your videos.

Hi Andrew, great video as usual. I already had bought my Troopy (second hand) before I discovered your channel, but you have inspired me in how I have built and subsequently used my troopy. You inspired me to get into Overlanding. If i were to buy new Landcruiser it would definitely be a Troopy and be converted similarly to yours.
Your vids have definitely reinvigorated my curiosity in purchasing a older troopy.

If the troopy was sold in the USA I would have a new troopy in the driveway. This is because of you and your troopy!

We brought a 96 troop carrier after watching your videos, I come across you researching the canning stock route. we are doing the trip on dirt bikes in August 2020 our build has commenced and I have been watching your great videos every chance I get .
Love the look of that wheel carrier. Wheel carriers have been one of our biggest headaches. Even had one that was so badly designed it used to open up and it eventually ripped off the bumper. It took quite a bit of welding to fix everything.
G’day Andrew, yes 100% bought the troopy because of your build, beginning of May this year I meet you in person at QuickPitch campers at Wangara, Jakkie gave you a call and you downed tools ( editing Simpson dessert trip ) to drive over to meet me, I told you then that I had a dual cab on order and cancelled it to build a troopy like yours, am over the moon with the build that PDP/QuickPitch put together for the cook and me, have a heap of photos of both vehicles park side by side and you sitting in mine, thanks again for your time that day mate ( well over an hour chatting 😬👍 )

I was excited when you bought a 79 dual cab, then intrigued when you swapped it for a troopy, and yes I will definitely consider a 6 wheeler after I follow your build. I have created detailed plans of a custom camper myself that I've been working on for years and payload has forever been the challenge. You may convince me that it's worth saving money for longer to do it all on 6 wheels instead of 4.
I dont have a troopy but do have a 79 dual cab. In regards to the 6x6, you'd be mad not to go the Jmacx 6x6. its a better system with coils all round. The multi drive system is good, and great for loads, but thats about it and its very limited in its design and real Offroad ability. have you looked at the Jmacx system?
I don’t know if it helps, but I’m saving to do something very similar to yours but with some better interior living for colder weathers!! I let you know when I get it! But definitely it’s because of you!

Hey Andrew, I am in the process of finding/buying a troopy, I currently drive a 4.2 gu patrol I have tried touring in it but was to much hassle setting up! After watching your videos I have seen the ease of set up and pack of a troopy... this is the reason for going to the dark side

My passion is with Land Rovers but your concise logical approach to actual practicality functionality and most importantly reliability and serviceability has swayed my decision to go Land Cruiser troopy/doublecab and if finance goes well 6x6 dream.

Hey Andrew! I live in the US, so no Troopy -- so inspired by your videos, I instead bought a 4Runner TRD OffRoad with KDSS. I'm using it for my photography expeditions across the Southwestern and Rocky Mountain regions, and over time I hope to modify mine as you have to support longer expeditions. Thank you for the inspiration!!

Hello Andrew. Because of you, we have bought an Mercedes G Class G500 (2005) to have outfitted as a camper with Paul Marsh in Capetown. The car is already on the way from Hamburg to Capetown in a container and Paul will work on it in October.

I know, the Mercedes G 500 is not ideal the best vehicle to have modified to a camper, but it was a comprise with my wife.

I just wanted to take this moment to thank you Andrew for your wonderful videos. I’ve been Follow you since you did the video with Ronny Dahl and your 79 Duelcab and then changed to the Troopy. I was interested in the 79s at the time and was going to purchase one. I put that on hold when you changed over. Now that I’ve seen what you have done with your Troopy and the reasons behind you change. I’m putting together my plans to purchase and build one myself in 2019. Regards Johnno

Yes, Andrew I'm going to buy one for my 52nd birthday in Nov-2018 & build it. But this will be based on your 1st impression (in Australia) and what is offered by my local dealer in Sri Lanka, a 4.2 litre in line 6 cylinder (HZJ79R) Thank you & Ronney for sorting me out with Jeep Wrangler, Defender & LC 79 finally!
Hi Andrew, I’m a Troopy owner over the ditch in NZ and I bought a Troopy after your comparison video with the Defender 110. Unfortunately there isn’t the same market for aftermarket Troopy products here in NZ as Australia, but I’m slowly building my Troopy into an overland vehicle and have been using your videos as guidance. Hopefully in a few years I might have something similar to your beast! Keep up the great work and I look forward to watching a 6x6 build series soon! Cheers, Andy
have you thought about getting one of those off road camping trailers like Ronny Dahl tows around would free up some room in the back of the troopy

hi all. I have a 1995 HZJ75. before I watched your videos. they are great by the way. I too like others want to film my own. I have a 6yo son and he just loves to go camping. at the moment its in for some diff repairs. but I love the truck. will never sell it .i do all of my own work and its an absolute joy. you have given me many more ideas in areas I have been thinking about like showers. good luck and all the best. living on the remote tracks full time having done the Canning and Arnhem land in the past six months... you said it right; nothing is ever perfect. In relation to your on the road editing you just look for more heavier and expensive solutions. Best case we would all drive Unimogs with slide on campers but then you give up other things to have the ease to edit and live on the road.
Cant afford a Troopy, but I bought a 1998 Landcruiser here in Europe that in Australia is badged as a Prado because of your videos.
Also got BFGoodrich tires, so that product placement worked a charm.
Since I live in the US, a troopy is not an option for me. However... I can say that if they were available here, it would undoubtedly be my next vehicle purchase. I 100% attribute that to your channel for showing just how awesome those trucks can be suited for expedition travel.
I wanted a van to tour AU, but your videos swayed me towards the Troopy. I’ve been a proud 2013 gxl owner for two weeks now. :) I hope Toyota give you a 6 wheeler!!

I didn't buy a Troopy because you can't get them in the UK but I bought a 70 station wagon because of your influence.

I have to mention that I'm a Land Rover fanatic, or better, lover.
Due to you're videos I've changed my view and opinion on the Toyota land cruiser. If it was available in the Netherlands (for a reasonable price) I would buy one.
I did buy the following products due to you're videos. The Nitecore camping lamps and headlight. I did switch from General Grabber to the new BFG AT tires.

As other people have mentioned - Patriot Campers and Jmacx have 6x6 vehicles. Your other Perth mate, Ronny Dahl did a video on the Patriot Campers 6x6 mega tourer. Could get some info from them perhaps.
I have a defender 90 td5 and live in the UK. I’ve spent several years now wishing I could get a troopy here for a reasonable sum. I’m certain that if they were easier to come by here then I would have one and that’s purely down to your channel.

Ever since I first discovered you, and your your wonderful films, through your review of the Land Cruiser vs the Defender, I have been lusting after getting my hands on a 1HZ Cruiser. Unfortunately, as you know, the Canadian government won’t allow the sale of 70 series trucks. I have been gradually researching the importation of an old one into Canada. You have definitely influenced my future purchase decisions even though I will be using my 70 series for work and as a daily driver.
Andrew, I am not in a position now to buy an overland vehicle, but if I was and if I could get a troopy in the US I would because of what I have seen in your videos. As always, I love your videos.
You might get some joy from talking to Iveco - the Daily has appeared in a lot of semi-amateur 4x4 shows. It's not 6 wheel drive but would easily accommodate your needs. Not to mention the seat is comfortable........and the track is the same front and rear :)
You don't need a 6 wheeler to edit on the road, but i don't blame him for trying. Andrew's vehicle is fantastic and his channel.As much as he likes giving great advice about products, He should take some of that advice for himself.
G'day Andrew. I have not purchased a troopy because of you (oh how I would dearly love the funds to do exactly that), however, I have purchased many other items because of your input on them. I use the BFG's as a prime example.

I would love a troopy but they are not available here in the states so my best option is a Tacoma with a Habitat camper shell and modifications which is my goal. I will use many of your ideas as well as those of Expedition Overland. I really enjoy your videos both for the entertainment and ideas. Thanks
I did 👍 absolutely loved it, sold it immediately, because there aren't many in my country (iceland) , made a solid profit and regret selling it, will need to get my self another one.
A workmate of mine is getting the roof tent conversion done to his troopy later in the year as he watches far to many of your videos - yes topey Im talking about you!!!
Andrew I have been watching you for many years. The Troopie is not available in Canada, but I’m currently waiting on a 4Runner, because you inspired me to get out and see the world, in a vehicle. Hopeful that you would see some of Canada in my videos.
Andrew, I WOULD get a troopy in a heart beat but I can’t in the US. You opened my eyes to that amazing vehicle, those that modify them and I wish I could but the darn things aren’t available here.
