Doing research so I can have a better understanding of what House of Ashes is based around. All I know is that Pazuzu was the demon in The Exorcist.

Pazuzu comes from the mind of H.P. Lovecraft, who also wrote the Necronomicon. This book also has a detailed description about Pazuzu.

Who is here to brush up on demonology lore thanks to The Dark Pictures' House of Ashes? I know I am, but my interest in demonology started when I read Gaiman's Good Omens back in 2012 (Yup, I was a fan back before it finally got mainstream attention.), specifically in Lucifer and aspects/epithets attributed to Greco-Roman deities before Christianity really took root on the European continent.

Very interesting video on Demonology & the Devil known as Pazuzu in specific. The Babylonian Diety Of The Wind. Of course i know he is not THE DEVIL or *Satan* but he's one of the most powerful Demonic OverLords of all time. I call him a *DEVIL* because his command over his thousands/millions of legions of tormented souls/fallen angels/fallen Gods/Devils/Demons gives him legendary infamy. He's basically the equivalent of Hades in Greek Mythology.

Believe me or not idgaf I've seen this figure at my friend's house I took a picture of it white long face pointy nose frizzy long black hair the b**** didn't scare but man was he scared..I hunt demons like this who pray on my friend don't believe me I can take you too the house.. I wish I had the picture I didn't fear this demon but I know it feared me cause I'm not so easily scared

Have a look at Revelations 9 and the description of Abaddon and how similar it is to Pazuzu.
Pazuzu is the scorpion man.

If you ever look up the seal or sigil of pazuzu it has a (whirl pool) in it's center. It is shaped like a stick man representation of the daemon so the spiral is located on his chest and the arms of the symbol represent his wings.

Pazuzu is not actually Sumerian. He doesn't appear until the Assyrian period, well after the Sumerian civilization.
Worth noting.
Very important distinction
Theoretically he has roots going back to Sumeria (based on possible etymology) but would be a very minor entity.
@idigamstudios7463 Pazuzu who was most popular in the first millenium BCE. He was the son of Hanbi (also Hanba), king of the demons of the underworld, and brother to Humbaba, the demon-god protector of the Cedar Forest in The Epic of Gilgamesh who is killed by the heroes.

If you pay real close attention to the original exorcist movie with father Marian there is a scene where the being in the thumb nail was standing in the room with them.
And if you pay attention to this other movie called "exorcist the beginning" that takes place in Africa i think, they built a church over that are where Lucifer supposedly landed when he fell from heaven, and buried it to conceal the evil...
Inside the church the ex priest went down to the bottom of the church and the same being that is in the thumbnail is in that movie also ... some of these movies show some sort of truth

Was some of the earlier part of this video Dungeons & Dragons lore? What with the abyss and all that smooth jazz? I know that Wizards of the Coast has mentioned that they take inspiration from mythology in general.
Not to my knowledge. They probably adapted existing mythology about Pazuzu.
The word Obyrith comes entirely from dungeons and dragons as does the idea of Abyss being a specific place where demons reside and that Abyss has “layers”.
Pazunia and the greatsword are also from d&d
Low light vision and blindsight are also D&D abilities.
I haven’t found any mention anywhere of Pazuzu ruling over a specific realm, or any ancient depictions of him with a sword

@@bryansapp8530 Yeah we arent talking about the idea of the abyss (I think I know what you're getting at). Its more specifically "The Abyss" as described by D&D. Some of what was mentioned in here sounds very much like dnd lore rather than any human-made IRL mythology.

Is Pazuzu an ancient vampire demon?. Since it seems in every culture has some form of vampire myth. or are they myths “Scary Laugh”. Sorry about that it’s October I couldn’t help myself. I am genuinely curious though.

If you know anything about the Exorcist, you will know the demon’s name is never mentioned in The Exorcist film. He is not even mentioned in the prequel very much either.

About 3 years ago. I was on a train to a concert I was going to. My gf had just woken up, and she called me. She was frantic and scared. She said that in her dream, I had appeared, and tried to fornication with her, but she knew it wasn't me. So she ran away. And apparently, I turned into a demon which she described accurately but I've forgotten since, and she said that he r@ped her. When I calmed her and told her it was just a dream, I asked her what his name was, and she told me his name was Pazuzu. She had no interest in demonology, and never watched the exorcist or anything like that. It was weird. Opinions? Thoughts?
I don't think you need to watch the exorcist to learn about pazuzu. He's a mythological figure. I knew about him from an encyclopedia I read when I was like 12
