    I have heard background instruments in music that I have heard for 40 years that I did not know were part of the recordings.
    Those who have said that the T1 will bring your old music library back to life weren't kidding. Music that I had stopped listening to due to having heard it for far too many years, sounds new again. These are the best I've ever heard, including various models I have tested. A few times, in percussion portions, I turned my head thinking that someone was standing beside me tapping on wood! The clarity and definition is stunning. I have heard the scratching of fingers on the guitar, and new levels of classical music I did not know existed. The 'soundstage" is remarkable and the detachable cable is a game changer: too many headphones die due to cable issues and the break-away safety factor is protection after spending considerable money to obtain such high end headphones. These are the Mercedes Benz of headphones.

    I wonder if the new earpads will do any change to the old T1's, I hope you put the earpads from the new version onto the old headphone and have a listen. If the new pads are memory foam, it means they're more dense than the old pads, and that means they create a better seal, keep more energy inside, etc. and that should improve the bass. That's how what usually happens with memory pads, same thing on the AKG K712, if you put the K701 pads on, the extra bass K712 has is lost. I see on the video that the ear pad opening on the new pads is slightly smaller than on the old, which might be a problem for me since my ears just about fit inside the old version pads.

    I would guessed there should be a twist lock for the cable attachment or something in that nature, but I guess not. Not sure how I feel about that. Had a pair of Audiotechnia ATHNC9 headphone, nice little thing for its price, but do not have a secure attachment. Can't tell you how many time I ripped the cable out of that thing. But also I do have the old T1 so I might just being bias.

    Hello Mike. May I ask your opinions on a headphone for acoustic music and k-pop (their mixes usually are a bit hot on low treble). I'm between the Solo2, ATH-ESW9a and MDR-MA900, which one would be your choice? Thanks and keep with the good videos.

    hello, what's the output jack from the 2nd gen? is there any 3.5mm jack inside?
    and can I use it with portable amp that drive headphones 300 ohm? I only had Govibe Magnum Amp, it works perfectly with my DT-880Pro 250ohm, I love it so much and I only need about 40% volume with it ...
    but this T1 is 600ohm, so I'm not sure if I can pair it with Govibe Magnum since I haven't ever tried any 600ohm headphone ...
    thanks in advance ... :)

    Guys I need an advise!
    I need some very good headphones for mixing, I have a chance to buy the T1 1st gen(used) for about 600 USD in very good shape. I've been researching the difference between the two generations and I don´t know if it worth to buy the 2nd gen because of the lack of info.
    I tested the Shure 1840 but as they were new, they were not in their optimal performance , I also realized the impedance is quite low, now I'm not Shure about anything...
    I would really appreciate any answer!!!

    • @Sun-Warrior1911
      @Sun-Warrior1911 Před 8 lety

      With higher ohms you need a strong amp to push the headphones to its full potential. The amp is sorta like the key to unlocking the great sound.

    • @GrumpiestKitten
      @GrumpiestKitten Před 8 lety

      +flip#1
      Theoratically yes.
      With Beyers it's like this:
      The higher the Ohms, the thinner the wire used for the voice coil.
      On the T1 we're speaking of 0,018mm diameter wire.
      When you have thinner wire, the mass of the voice coil gets lower and you can make more windings using the same volume.
      More windings = higher inductivity = better efficiency of the system.
      Having a low mass voice coil also helps with efficiency and allows for better impulsecontrol, higher cut-off frequency and response/authority.
      Thanks to the huge magnets the T1 needs virtually no power, however it requires high voltages due to the greater impedance. You can actually run them of battery powered devices, they are that efficient.
      However a wall powered desktop amp like the SPL Phonitors or Lake People/Violectric amps with their high power *and* voltage delivery definitely won't do them harm!

      +woopygoman LESS WEIGHT = MORE COMFORT

    • @woopygoman
      @woopygoman Před 9 lety

      In a sense, you're right. But there are a few choices when it comes to prestigious high performance super-materials like carbon fibre is just one example. Anyway, I think it's stupid and ugly to put plastic on a high end product. You won't be getting your money's worth. But that's just me.

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 Před 9 lety +6

      +woopygoman You're clearly not an engineer or anything remotely related to it, otherwise you'd know that certain types of plastic can be very high end, very expensive. It's a common misconception among clueless people to think of plastic as a cheap material. It's not. And it's actually the best material to use for this application. Why? Well, it's a simple reason, plastic gives you INFINITE ability to make the part exactly like you want, to have exactly those acoustic properties that you need, exactly those physical properties, shape, design, weight, etc. that you need. You won't get that with metals or woods, you can just change their shape, but you're stuck with their properties.
      Why do you think Sennheiser used plastic on HD800's? Or Beyerdynamic on T1's? Why didn't they make a driver baffle out of gold? Or platinum? Or diamond? Because they tried to save money? No, that plastic is actually more expensive per weight of unit than aluminium, steel, any wood, etc. They used it because it allowed them to achieve the exact acoustic properties, while keeping the design and light weight untouched. Believe it or not (and ask and fellow engineer), using metal on headphones is actually cheaper than using high end polymer materials, and that's actually cheap and lazy design, again it's super simple to take a piece of aluminium, and CNC machine it...and people who don't know better will go all crazy and think the headphone is the best thing ever just because it's made out of aluminium, not realizing that's actually far from ideal when it comes to acoustics. Case in point would be Master&Dynamics. Those headphones would take me about 15 minutes to design their ear cup shells in any CAD program from start to finish, that's how simple they are, and even easier to produce if you have a basic CNC machine and anodizing setup. It would much MUCH harder and more expensive to make the HD800's shell for example. Again, metals and wood aren't ideal, they limit you a lot when designing a product. We're talking about high end headphones that could otherwise use high end polymer's. And carbon fiber? No, just no. Carbon fiber is one of the worst materials in the world when it comes to acoustics, basically it has all the properties you don't want in an audio product, and using it on headphones for anything other than cosmetic reasons would be absolutely idiotic. Point is, you shouldn't be thinking that it's stupid and ugly to put plastic on a high end product, because you clearly don't have the most basic understanding of material engineering or what goes on behind the design of high end headphones, and therefore can't and shouldn't express you opinion on it, unless you want to show people you don't know what you're talking about.
      I'm sorry if I insulted you in any way, but I'm just saying the truth. Too many people nowadays have too many opinions on too many topics, none of which they understand, and if we don't stop it, we'll end up in a world where everyone will think they can talk about any topic out there and make fools out of themselves without even realizing it.
