Men like Dennis do not exist. He comes from a different generation, a different time. Men now are cold and cruel. Men now are in search of models and sex, not really into getting to know or understanding the woman. All they care about is how she looks, not who she is.
I promise they aren’t all like that. My husband is a gem. And the friends we have in our lives who are men are just as genuine as he is:)

Absolutely. Society back then and "oh the scandal! what will everyone think?!!" caused a lot of misery and sadness. Thank goodness we have moved on and know through this heartwarming story that there have been happy ever after endings... 😢😊😅

I met my soul mate 30 years ago when we were kids, and we dated when we were just out of high school. He broke up with me because he was afraid of the seriousness of our relationship and the commitment of love scared him. He realized his mistake right away, but was too stubborn to reach out to me. 20 years later, I found him online and we met up at a local cafe after emailing back and forth. The intense spark was still there. We knew it as soon as we saw each other across the parking lot at the cafe. We later got married and had children, and we are happier than ever. We keep life-lessons close, and always very open in our communications, so we never have a misunderstanding again. We feel so complete with each other and and our family. I love him more today than when I was a kid, and I simply love him more and more the older we get.

@@chloekit4861 The OP said they found him online. People's addresses and numbers were more avaliable online 20 odd years ago and there were chatrooms, some early forms of social media and yahoo before FB, Insta etc.

Vic Marshall well, it was a different time back then. I wouldn't be surprised if the parents were motivated by fear of what other people would think. Having a baby out of wedlock was a way bigger deal back then. The parents probably wanted to give the baby away so everyone would forget that it happened and nobody would have to feel shame. But yes, I agree with you. Parents should not interfere like that in this situation

Vic Marshall what you said is so true. I had friends in high school who loved each other very much. Everyone knew as soon as we graduated they would get married. Sadly her parents didn't "approve" of him and did all they could to break them up. In our senior year, close to graduation time, they called off the relationship because the pressure from her parents was too much. She couldn't take his phone calls, the mother drove her back and forth to school, there was no way they were allowed to see each other. She was/is my best friend and I saw her change from a happy, ambitious teenager to a ghost of a person. Long story short this was the 60s and he was drafted into the Army and she went onto college. She had an unsuccessful marriage but moved on raising her children alone. No one ever heard from him again. Rumor was he moved to Colorado after the Army to get away from California and the 60s drug scene. Fast forward to 2007 and she calls me one night saying her lost love had found her on Classmates.com. They were married in Las Vegas 4 months later and have lived together happily ever since. We are all retired now and I see them once a month for dinner. They are as happy now as they were in HS. He calls her "his girl" and that always makes us laugh. She still blushes when he comes into the room . I just hope they have many more years together, you can feel the love and devotion between them. Why her family fought so hard to separate them is beyond me. Look ....they ended up together after all.
It's actually quite understandable why the parents interfered. How young this couple was, no jobs, no stable home of their own, not being married which was a BIG deal! And apparently, the parents for whatever the reasons, just didn't approve of their children being together. I'm not surprised at all that Jean was given up for adoption. And a lot of the time, the parents are proven right: the couple eventually realize that they don't work together and break up.
Which makes this story all the more MAGICAL, LOVEABLE AND EMOTIONAL!! They pretty much stayed in love for all these years and found each other!! Then they got to reunite with their daughter! It's SO EMOTIONAL!!
This segment I loved it brought tears to my eyes knowing that after 54 years they found their daughter

Support is what young parents need. More families would make it if the adults stepped up and helped. So much heartache for nothing.
They went out for 6 months after the adoption, then he joined the army and she went to college. Her dad intercepted Dennis' letters. Dennis proposed again when he was 24 and she was 22 but her parents were still against it and refused to continue paying her tuition fees if they got married. What did her family have against him? He seems lovely.

Her parents pushed her to give her daughter up for adoption, do you know how much she must have worked on disconnecting herself from her baby girl? How hard it was for her to just continue living?
I am so happy for this family. I too am adopted and I was able to find my birth mother however I found her just months after she passed away. She was the only person who has any idea of who my father might be. The adoption papers indicated that the father could have been two different individuals (one of which was in the military) but there weren't any names listed. I've done the ancestry dna kit but so far I haven't been able to find him. I would love to be able to fill in the rest of my puzzle pieces. It's been a life long dream to find my birth father.

Love has no expiration date. I had the biggest crush on this guy I went to grade school with, we were friends. He graduated 3 years before me and I lost touch until he found me on Facebook. He was divorced and so was I. We've been married for a year and have a beautiful 3 month old ❤

Things were so different back in the 50s and even the 60s..your parents made decisions for you, and it may sound silly now, but you didn’t question them! So glad they found each other again! I was lucky enough when I met my hubby in 65 I married him and had parents approval..we just celebrated 55 yrs together! I wish this couple had parental support and could have had a life together! Glad they are now!

I too was adopted and my adopted mom set it on a search to get in touch with my biological mom. In 1989 She found them and my biological sister called me. That is a day I will never forget, I was 39 years old. The first thing she said after I said hello was, hi this is Mary your sister. All I could do was cry. Scared my young son who was standing right there with me. When I calmed down we talked and talked. I have 5 older brothers and sisters that I have since met. I also got to meet my biological mom and step-dad. I never got to meet my biological dad but that's okay. It is such a tremendous blessing just to be able to know who you look like and what really happened about you're being given up.
I found by biological Father at 60. He is 87 !! Unfortunately my Mother has passed. But I now have 6 half siblings and a lot of cousins, Aunts and Uncles !! Life long search finally answered !!

It was inhumane being dropped off 300 miles from home to a "home for unwed mothers" because your parents were embarrassed & ashamed of you. I was completely devastated

My father passed when I was 15. I found my mother , who had given me up to him, when he passed but she died when I was 18. This story is sooooo sweet and heart warming. That daughter is truly blessed with such a beautiful gift to meet her parents even at her age. Now they can all be together in love. 🎁🌞
