- Using a Ford Hot Rod i try my best to outsmart a team of Hudson Hornets and Mercury Coupes, so cue a mad scramble across the Forza Horizon 4 map.

This made me realize how cool an actual bootlegging/smuggling game could be. Something set in the 1920s-30s using the Wreckfest engine.
I was thinking of something like this after watching some history videos about bootleggers. This would be a very fun game.
Now we need the Italian Job. A souped up mini cooper.
we need 3 of them for it to be perfect
And then Smokey and the Bandit (or as close as you can get)
@@ex_vitae the car's in the game so it should be easy
Better still, the Lego Mini Coopers.
@@edwardburek1717 no Lego cops though
Could really make this into series. Famous car chases from tv and film. Would recommend bullitt, blues brothers and dukes of hazzard.
Is the Gran Torino in the game? It could do with a bit of Starsky & Hutch action and nonsense.
Edward Burek that sounds awesome but there’s no gran torino at the moment
Thelma & Louise!
smokey and the bandit. kinda need a big truck
I wanna see the oj chase
Maybe a 90s heroin trafficker chase now?
Smuggling skag in some Cosworths or JDM stuff, escaping from Carltons or XJSes, giving everyone Trainspotting vibes.
Or a 80s ccocaine chase.
Finish line in Leith.
revolver ocelot1991 ya In a white testarossa
@@s19pajua13 the boggier suger man.
I was kinda thinking the 90s Corvette being chased by the 90s impalas
How about a smokey and the bandit style chase? Trans Am vs the cops? However in true Smokey and the Bandit style your running blocker for another vehicle. The other vehicle needs to get to location x and you've to protect it.
Yes
Yeeeeeeesssssssss
what we are dealing with here is a total lack of respect for the law
Ha! I just suggested the same thing and then saw this!
@@Edgecrusherdk well considering how the law acts in this day and age especially in poorer areas yes yes i do in fact have disdain for the police also doesnt help that they tried to book my dad who is a hard working citizen for "public intoxication" when he walked out of a bar on his birthday having a good night by deciding to put him up against the car and pat him down for no reason and when he protested like anyone would since he was having none of that they tazed him so overall yeah im sick of the law since they seem to not do jack when you actually have a problem
7:06 the ultimate disguise for that traffic car, switching paint while driving
Me and Gliscor flying past at 8:55 if only we were a few sceonds later haha n not go shooting past
UltraBlakey That’s cool
Hey man how could I get into one of these chases it would be so much fun
Fun fact: Anchorage, Alaska actually did have a Hudson Hornet police car during the 1950s.
Even back then people knew that quality tires are effing important. The best bootleggers were mostly caught with low quality tires on the day of the arrest.
How could they be the best if they were caught?
Tauno Kekkonen because they were using low quality tires, did you even read the first comment?
@@harrisonrobinson7990 I did. I would rephrase the first comment so that "the bootleggers that were caught, were caught with bad rubber". I would have said that the best bootleggers did not get caught to begin with. Hence they were the best.
Also I don't buy the story that someone would have made enough statistics back in the day about the tyres of bootleggers to make a decisive statement on their importance.
*Copperhead Road plays quickly in the background*
Nah, Foggy Mountain Breakdown
Don’t you know you never come back from copperhead road
As someone who's into history and recently got into racing I love so much that this exists
Man. Forza sure does look different when you cant make a turn at 70mph. And i like it.
how a motorsports was born. Bootlegger out running cops become nascar
A really good chase. Surprisingly even!
Idea, a Harry Potter theme. Let's say there is a golden Peel P50 or Fiat Abarth or etc. and yourself Alex are riding a broom (A.K.A something large like a Mercedes 6x6), meanwhile the other 10 are hunting you down. The Abarth though is confined to only a few parts of the map, let's say the Mortimer Gardens to the Viaduct
@Samuel Culy they could be chasers
But what would be the ball that shoots around the field in the movie???
There's a soccer ball
Down by broadway
I love your panicked “OOOH... THE FUZZ! THE FUZZ HAVE FOUND ME!”
You could do a dukes of hazzards type of chase
Or Like Smokey and the Bandit
I wanna see both
Both would be cool
Yes
Ex_Vitae and yes
This chase goes good with the Dukes of hazard theme “Good Ol’ Boys”
Top speed for a Hudson in ‘51, ‘52 was around 115 to 120 and for a ford coupe it was about 100, the Hudson was one of the best handling cars in the ‘50’s due to their low center of gravity, which made them very popular in the early days of NASCAR as well as their ability to easily pull out of a powerslide, the handling was better than even a coupe like that ford.
It's totally fine that your car was faster. Moonshiners were some of the original hot rodders (by necessity) so you're actually pretty accurate. May e could have bumped it up a bit higher but close enough. Looks fun!
The Hudson was the best handling American car of It's time back in the early 50s that says alot.
And don't forget it won three stock car championships in a row..with a straight-six in an era getting dominated by V8s! It was ahead of its time but Hudson didn't have the budget to keep upgrading its cars unlike the larger companies!
@@NotDaender yep it was out turning the cars with v8s because the floor went lower then the frame so lower center of gravity better handling. It had a 160 horsepower with the world biggest 6 cylinder engine in the world with twin 1 barrel carbs it was the coolest car with a i6 in It's day.
2:17
"WEre Not Turning..!"
"Going To Visit Some Foliage. Hello Trees!
Your car definitely should’ve been faster moonshiners were known for having faster cars than the police and moonshiners used their cars for early nascar
Yeah a moonshiner could’ve gotten way more that 110hp in their cars, and they also knew how to build better suspension and brakes. I think they should rerun this one with rebuilt cars.
Kyle Jackson Also this is nitpicking a bit but the Ford Business Deluxe would’ve been a better choice as bootleggers used normal cars that were built not hot rods.
However he Said that he knows it should be faster, but he won't make it that way to keep it balanced.
Dude it was the 1950s they didn't have the best stuff my guy and most could barely reach 80
Riley Blair You’d be surprised what and enterprising individual can do with a semi-truck supercharger and heavy duty truck suspension even back then
The it's awesome that you did this on a racing game. After all Bootlegging or "Runnin' 'Shine' "(Moonshine) as we refer to in the U.S., was the genesis of American Stock Car racing. Drivers started bragging about how fast their cars were.....Then egos took over and they would race to see who's car was faster. 73 Years later NASCAR's "Cup" series is still going strong.
This is the perfect idea - it was where this kind of thing all started after all!
when i came round the corner when you were leaving ambleside it looks like i steered away from you, i was just lagging is all D':

@@MFKR696 well, at least I am special and not a rude jerk like you!😡
Not gonna fit much booze in that little hot rod. Bootleggers ran cars with some room in them. You should try it with a legendary setup like a '49 Ford with a 275 hp Cadillac v8 and add a few hundred pounds for the cargo. Hudsons were also popular, good power and great handling for their day.
16:29 They all drive the wrong way LOL! Love the Hudson as a police car.
this is so much more entertaining then modern car chase with their flawless slick cornering and super top speeds
you can see me in the thumbnail lol
What point in the video is the thumbnail because I missed it I guess
@@joysekai yes
Definitely series worthy! Famous movie chases for the win.
Are there some Payday 2 players?
So what about van from payday 2 vs Swat cars? That can be real chalange.
WWII games, and now moonshine bootlegging games. Games of stuff my grandfather did in real life 🤣
This was a lot of fun to watch (i only wish the game had period traffic options) :)
You need a 40 ford, 40’s Chevy business coupe. They usually had the 516 Cadillac ambulance engines (engines shipped to dealers without serial numbers) the old dodge or Oldsmobile sedans were popular too. Leaf springs, brakes and tires from the trucks of the day and other slick mods. Brake light toggle switches, airplane landing lights for headlamps or tucked behind grille. Shiner cars always rode rear end high when empty that way it would ride level when loaded.
This is one of the best failrace episode I loved I hope you would make more classic chases through this locations than through cities
Fun fact historically bootleggers they use the river to navigate and move moonshine(alcohol)
Bouncy bouncy Ford,Bouncy bouncy Ford , I'm plowing the fields and i'm bouncing a Ford
I’m exactly where I need to be.....said FailRace never.

Have you heard this story of the Hot Rod Race
When Fords and Lincolns was settin' the pace.
That story is true, I'm here to say
I was drivin' that Model A.

Plz someone get the reference.

Quick history lesson: the bootleggers got started in the 1920's, during the Prohibition era, where people cooked moonshine in their own basements, but when making it in larger quantities intended for sale, they needed fast cars that were capable of outrunning the police. Especially after the market crash of 1929, there was a very high demand for alcohol in the US, which could only be made illegally, making the demand for fast, customized cars even higher. This all ended in 1932, when the Prohibition was ended, alcohol was legal again, and the cars were no longer needed. But instead of scrapping them, many people wanted to see which of the custom cars was fastest, and so, NASCAR was invented.
This isn't necessarily true, people are still running moonshine into dry counties in the US to this day. Virginia loses $20,000,000 a year to illegal whiskey distribution.
I love how you think he is pulling away, and likely to escape, only to look back and get a view full of fuzz right on his tailpipe XD
There is always some sort of sense of speed in these videos
7:05 that BMW just went from red to silver.
7:05 the BMW X5 be like ,,shit u bringing the cops, I must activate my sneak strategy,,
This was great. My favorite chase so far. The only thing that could have improved it would have been some Benny Hill theme music for the first time you took to the fields.
hudson hornets in real life are actually really good, they have a flat straight six with two single barrel carbs and are very well balanced and turn and handle quite nicely
The 32 wasn't used much by bootleggers, there isn't much room for "product". Junior Johnson (a known bootlegger from early NASCAR) used, and still owns, his 40 Ford Delux.
Edit: The aaaooooga horn wouldn't be correct either.
Failrace is the James may of gaming.
Very great vid bro and most bootleggers ran on dirt back roads once they was running not many stayed on a paved road because most southern roads back then was dirt only the bigger cities had some paved
Haven't played forza since 360 but that couple is badass
Looks like great grandpa is at it again with the law.
I'm a big fan and I love your Hunt the Survivor videos. Would love to see more specially on FH4.
It's amazing how new shocks can make a bumpy ride, smooth...
Love the concept, but next time there should be two Bootleggers. And you mention having a decoy runner, just as I finished typing that. Haha. And keep in mind, runners back in the day stuck mostly to the back roads, woods, etc. hardly ever went on the paved roads.
I want a Dukes of Hazzard/Blues Brothers style chase.
Everyone seem to love the fast races with the fastest supercars available and going ridiculous speeds, but I absolutely and utterly love slow races with slow cars. I think my favorite class is top of C class.
this reminds me of a ps1 game called dukes of hazzard racing for home where uncle jessie, boss hogg and black jack perril were bootleggin' from the law
This one was fun. Festival didn't really fit, but it was cool to watch. Impromptu gangster movie.
Some Chases ala the Taxi films. Lots of french hatchbacks chasing down red 190 Evo Mercs, 6th gen lancers and such.
Here's an idea. Castle of Cagliostro... Alex in a Fiat 500 chasing a Citroen 2CV to 'rescue' the princess with the other chase cars being suitable period vehicles with a mix of police cars and bad guys (black cars). The chase goes from Mortimer Gardens to Bamburgh Castle and back
not my favorite, tbh. the straight line advantage wasn't big enough to make up for the incalculably large handling advantage the cops had in their 20+ years newer cop cars
not even considering bootleger cars made way more power since you know ingenuity of swaps and superchargers from bigger v8 vehicles being much more easy back then since the car industry wasnt cancer especially in the electronics department since there really wasnt any
You should add the song, I fought the Law, And the Law won, to the Video!!! LOL
*O Brother Where Art Thou Intensifies*
"oh George not the livestock"
THEE HASTNT SAYETH THOU WORDS
Your Ford certainly could've used no more than one or two power (intake and exhaust) mods to give it a slightly better performance advantage over the cops. It's basically be one modified runner vs a swamp of cops. If you try to evenly balance the runner's car with pursuit vehicles like you've done, then you really stack the odds against you.
Good chase, but try to make it more fair for yourself so these go longer!
So is this the new style of pursuit videos on this game ?
What's next ?
1) smokey and the bandit
2) dukes of hazard (with mean green machine)
3 Italian job (old school mini then new one to compare )
4 vanishing point
This could be a epic series
I like the "Themed" Episodes like this !! And I agree with Sukki Blue.
6:10 damn i didnt know Doc had a police career before taking to the race circuits
Also the Hudson IRL would outdrag and outhandle that dinky little ford.
@A real bisexual petrol-head It's not only the fact they had more powerful engines. They had "step down" design which helped on the corners. I really recommend to watch this episode : czcams.com/video/hPoIb3zTGcA/video.html . All true and geniue facts about this faboulus car ;)
A Survive The Hunt, a Discussing STH, and a Car Chase, in one week.
Alex, you sexy Bastard, we aren't worthy
smokey and the bandit would be a great one
😏😏Only thing it’s missing is classic fifties rock & roll dude🤘🏿🤘🏿
Only thing left is to have foggy Mountain breakdown playing !!!
Been watching for a couple months now and have no idea why I'm not subscribed. I am now
Have you thought of doing a Baby Driver themed chase? Would be pretty cool to see what you can come up with
These themed chases are fun as hell sir! Keep up the good work :D Tyty
all that bumping and jumping my lord all the shine would have been busted up...
Hey, you should do a smokey and the bandit style of race/challange :)
You remember the piece they did on Top Gear, Fiesta vs Corvette in the shopping center? Would love to see you do that one!
Historically you should've used a 40 ford coupe with a centrifugal supercharger. They were some of the most popular runners.
this is why the bootlegger needs more power
That was a great twist to the chase!
One odd point though (and nothing you did) is that the Ford is supposed to be a flathead V8 but has the sound of an old inline 6
Still really cool and hope to see more of this!
This was cool. Please do more Bootlegger's run.
that was the most exciting chase yet. do more of the lower class vehicles like this. or like faster cars and terrible tires
This game looks really cool. I played the first horizon I remember the online was fun
It is
Video was entertaining, but that Hudson would be all over that coupe, for the day the Hudson was a beast
Still waiting for the battle of the Ford Falcons, should be coupes vs sedans.
(Edit: Perhaps make a rule about torpedo attacks on the chased vehicle? For example, the vehicle has to be safely apprehended, and thus cannot be slammed against a building at 90 mph. So the job of the players are to tail you and force you along a certain route where 2-3 other cars have set up a roadblock. Just a thought.)
I think its a Holden Torana VS Ford Falcon Sedans to be correct with the film. (Or was it a Monaro?)
@@KPen3750 If we're both talking about Mad Max, then I'm pretty sure Nightrider's car was another Falcon he stole from the MFP.
It's been awhile since I've seen it and I'm not the best with cars so I'm not 100% sure.
@@ptsdpamphletcompany5890 I rewatched the scene and it looks like a Torana based on the fender flares, but need another opinion
@@ptsdpamphletcompany5890 though it could be a Falcon, Can any Aussies confirm?
@@KPen3750 I just checked the Wiki, if it is accurate, and it says that the car is a 1972 Holden Monaro HQ.
I had assumed it was the same style of vehicle as Max's car later in the film.
7:06 Color shifting BMW.
Also, your Ford should've been quicker to be more period correct as moonshiners often made their cars much faster than the police vehicles of the time.
The age of empires wololo got me
This was a great idea, but it suffers from the same problem as vanilla Wreckfest. For my tastes anyway, it's so much more fun when the cars sound the part and have oodles of power.
What’s the problem with the original wreckfest game?
Why dose this guys voice go so well with these videos good videos keep it up 👍
We need Smokey and the Bandit.
1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am, Black and Gold trimmed paint scheme as well.
This race should've been run at night... without headlights.... and the shine runner should have an extra 1,000lbs in the rear with oversprung rear suspension.
great video! only thing missing is playing Running Man Song (HQ) [Latcho Drom - La Verdine] from radio :D
Does anyone record from the police/hunters (for gta) perspectives? It'd be really cool to see!
Fun fact this was how Nascar was made moonshiners running away from cops with modded cars
Good job the rail road would be a good idea.
Moonshining in Britain, now this is pod racing.
this video needs to be played at 1.5 speed with the Benny Hill Theme in the background
If this game took place in america this bit would make more since
1974 Gone in 60 Seconds chase? (I think they have a 71 Mach 1 that'll work perfectly despite the movie car being a 73)
