amanda agnew heres a thing though, depending on the stage of cancer, you only have a certain percent of chance living after getting treatment.
My dad had stage 4 stomach cancer, and it ended up getting into his bones, and into his brain. This all took 2 years, WITH chemo, radiation, and surgeries, and he still died.
But he definitely lived LONGER than what a person would without the treatment.
Plus, whether or not you get treatment, the death will still be slow and painful, as your body begins collapsing, your lungs fill with concrete like mucus, and your heart fights to stay alive. The person only suffers for as long as they want. It all depends on how long theyre determined to live for, while suffering. My dad lasted 23 hours with shitty breathing. I stayed up all day and night for him, and most of my family members were there. It was tragic, really. And when he was dying, we couldnt call 911 because he had hauspice (i think thats how its spelt?). And even if we could call 911, I doubt there'd be much they can do

I found out in late Feb 2005 that I had breast cancer. My fiance found out it was Stage IV when it was found. By asking my doctor about any future kids.we found out it was triggered by me getting pregnant. And made us realize that if I hadn't gone thru chemo when I did. I would have been dead by summer time of 2005.

I'm a mom, I have at the moment, a incurable cancer. I don't like having chemo, but I want to give myself every fighting chance I can to be with my child. And I would do everything to make sure my child gets better if she had it. I know people do it for religious Reasons, but I'm sorry, the health of your child is more important than your religious beliefs. I respect everyone's rights to believe what they want, however, if my dr told me that my child has a 80% survival rate with meds, than with out them, I'm going to put aside my beliefs and have my child treated. That's not saying I wouldn't believe in my religion anymore, it's saying that there are some things more important than not doing a lifesaving orocedure, because my religion frowns on it. Just saying

Also, if you have religious beliefs and you are an adult who refuses treatment fine, but you should not be able to force those beliefs on the child when it comes to their health. There are places where parents are exempt from taking their child to the hospital because of their religious beliefs and that is absolutely wrong.

If she believes the two treatments to be carcinogens which some people do, she should have asked for other options. I ask for other options at the doctors office all the time. Nobody loves a child more than their parents, therefore no court shall ever have the power to overturn a parents medical decision, for the court doesn´t love the child.

Please do a little reaserch on the real success rates of chemo, the death rates of those who suffer illness from chemo, and the truth about chemo and the pharmacy companies. +Abby Lowe chemo has a success rate of less than 3%. It's a carcinogenic which means it damages DNA and cells. What causes cancer? Damaged DNA cells. If you get chemo once, you are likely to get it a second time. Not only that, but it is very costly! It's a continuous inflow of money from sick people to big businesses. I don't want to be a preacher but many cures have been discovered by people and have been covered up by proclamations that the people cured were wrongfully diagnosed. It's a very interesting thing to look into. Strongly recommend you research some of it :)

This is a prime example of how some doctors fail in working with their patients. If the oncologist sat down with the parents and explained specifically how chemo and radiation work, why they sometimes don't work, and why they are also considered "carcinogenic." The mom said she didn't understand, and her son's doctors didn't do anything about it.

For those who doesn't understand how toxic things work against toxic things:
    1) A LOT of the medicines against almost anything is toxic for some part of our body. Example: antivirals, antibiotics, antifungicide, anti-paracite treatments. However: we are only supposed to take it till whatever is bothering us dies, and then the body will be allowed to recover to a better state than it was it while being sick
    2) cancer therapies that use things that themselves cause cancer work in this way: cells have different ways to achieve the same result - this is a mechanism that should ensure that cells do what they need to do to survive. In cancer cells, there are often 6-10 mistakes in important biochemical pathways (ways to create the necessary nutrients etc) before the cell begins to devide uncontrollably and spread. Cancerous cells often seem strong because they don't care about what happens to the rest of the body. However, cancerous cells are actually weak: they have 6-10 mistakes that often lead to several necessary pathways being non-functional... but as mentioned before: there are back-up plans for most things. What the cancer treatments are supposed to do it to remove those back-up plans/remaining pathways. Although this will be damaging to normal cells, they still have those pathways that the cancerous cells lacked, and are in this way still able to survive. A cell can take a certain amount of damage before it isn't able to restore itself back to normal and develops into cancer. The cancer treatments try to damage the body just enough to kill off the cancer cells, but not enough to give cancer other places

    • @lollsazz
      @lollsazz Před 7 lety +3

It's already explained in the comment: cells can take a certain amount of abuse before mutating, and this amount one tries to choose in such a way that there is not as much effects of this. Most cancer drugs are mutagenic and cancerogenic (you can read a little about secondary cancer after chemotherapy here, but generally, bladder, testicular and leukemia are the most common secondary cancers: www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/medicaltreatments/secondcancerscausedbycancertreatment/second-cancers-caused-by-cancer-treatment-chemotherapy).
In cases where you have a child who lives and MAYBE gets cancer in 10-15 year, or dies in a few months - what is really better? With some cancers, like lung cancer, which is impossible to kill, one might want to just live untill you die - the time you have left is short, and it's better to not spend it doing chemo. Same with very old people: quality of life is better than slightly longer, low-quality life. BUT, in the case of a child, if the cancer is treatable, I'd say that it's definitely worth a shot if this is the only way to kill the cancer and maybe get it to stay away too. If people live for longer, they might live to the day where a good treatment for their new cancer already has been found Armando T.

I suspect the mother knows more than what was portrayed in this clip. I would guess that she is most likely choosing alternative treatments. If that's the case parents should have that option. She is absolutely correct when she says chemotherapy is a carcinogen. Alternative treatments work without side effects. They make the body strong and the immune system strong. They help the body rebuild. This is suppressed from being taught in medical schools because there is no money in natural therapies. No way to patent it. And it doesn't keep you a returning patient.

If THE DOCTORS say that chemotherapy is the best option if they want their child to LIVE, then she should get him the chemotherapy WITHOUT QUESTION. She is a BAD MOTHER. No mother that LOVES AND WANTS THE BEST for HER CHILD would REFUSE to listen to a TRAINED PROFESSIONAL. NO IFS, NO BUTS. SHE IS KILLING HER CHILD. THOSE STUPID HERBAL TEA TREATMENTS OR "ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS" WILL NOT WORK IF THE DOCTOR BELIEVES IT WON'T. IF YOU BELIEVE SOME KIND OF ESSENTIAL OIL IS GOING TO SAVE THAT CHILD THEN YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL AND SHOULD SEE A THERAPIST IMMEDIATELY.

Winter Phoenix Gaming Because you don't just fight cancer off. It's a disease. You obviously don't know how cancer works. If there's no action against it, it grows. Malignant cancer cells multiply until it takes over vital organs. My grandfather died of cancer, my friend's mother is in the process of fighting it, my cousin BEAT breast cancer b/c of the chemotherapy and radiation. Don't try and lecture me about how cancer works, buddy. Yes, there are cancer patients that end up dying regardless of chemotherapy, like my grandfather did, but the chemotherapy didn't bring about his death. The ones that die even with chemo usually don't catch it early enough. And don't even try and ask me how I know the chemo didn't kill him b/c I watched him die when I was only 12 years old. The image of him struggling to breathe because the cancer took over his lungs is seared into my brain.

Totally legit to say "Why poison my small child when he's ALREADY sick?"

There has to be a balance between parents' rights over their children, and those children's civil rights as individual citizens. Endangering their life is not something parents should be able to do. The treatment is proven effective, it's the most effective, and the parents shouldn't have the right to choose to allow their child to die when there is treatment available which could save their life. Furthermore, children under the age of majority shouldn't get to choose to die on the basis of "their" beliefs, because at such a young age you are usually parroting the beliefs your parents have spoon-fed to you. For something as irreversible as death, children aping the talking points of their parents is not enough to say, "okay, sure, we'll let you refuse life-saving treatment". No. Not when dealing with someone whose abstract thinking abilities have yet to fully form.

Parents shouldn't have the right to make that decision. It should be up to the child. When my little cousin was in kindergarten, her best friend had brain cancer. He was the most optimistic child I had ever seen. He never let cancer stop him. In first grade, they diagnosed it as terminal, and our hearts dropped. He decided he didn't want to do chemo anymore. He said, "If chemo is only going to make my life longer, but not take the cancer away, I'd rather just go peacefully. Mommy, daddy, it's not the chemo's fault. It did it's job. But it can only do that for so long. Am I allowed to go?" They let him decide. He lived for a couple weeks after that. His parents made sure he was always happy. A parent allowing the child to decide is tough, but a child knowing when they've fought hard enough is even tougher. He died a hero. We miss you, and will never forget you, Joshie. 🌈💖💛💚💙💜🌈

I don't understand how she can stand by and not try and fight for her sones life because "she doesn't understand". Well get off you flaming backside and go talk, read, watch what ever you have to so you can understand it and help your little boy!!!!

I can't believe she's so lazy she's literally willing to let her son die rather than educate herself. Besides, if I that something would save my child's life, I wouldn't go against it simply because I don't understand it. My child shouldn't be punished in the worst way because I am ignorant.

there should be a law everywhere where if you're refusing life-saving medical attention for human under 18 without any legitimate reason that would be decided by the court or by a jury you should be completely overruled and the child has his own decision if he wants to be treated or not

This poor boy actually died last year (December 2016) all because his parents wouldn’t opt for chemo because “they don’t understand it” R.I.P.

this is heavily edited to make them look bad. This child had no chance with treatment. Thats why the judges ruled in their favour.

Can't child protective services get involved at this point? This innocent child has the right to have a fighting chance at life, and if he dies, his death will be directly as a result of his mother's ignorant and poor choices.

This mom is right. I really hate to say it, but always keep in mind that remission is a lie. The cancer is never truly gone and that's why when it comes back it is even more aggressive.

  • @nononohellnowhatcomeonohno5099

I get her. The only people who would get her are those who's gone through it.
You have something that is killing you like cancer and the only thing that can help save your life is poison 🤷🏼‍♀️. What do you do, what do you do?!
I was 16 I only had a mother who did not speak or understood English. Doctors came in and ask if I wanted to have babies in the future, they told my mom to sign a waiver that clearly saying that she was giving the doctors permission to put poison in my veins.
The side effects was more cancer down the road just to save me now .
You don't know, they for sure knew that the crap they were putting inside of me will come back to haunt me later in life.

If I were to have a child that has cancer or a tumor, I wouldn’t care if i didn’t understand chemo or radiation. I would just do my research and I would do it for the sake of my child. And family.

  • @rschlitten
    @rschlitten Před 7 lety +10

I don't think she is stupid or selfish, I think she would just rather find a better, safer way to help her child. There are treatments that are not so toxic that have shown to work. I have read many articles stating that chemo and radiation can many times actually speed up or make the cancer worse. It isn't always the best thing. Dr's don't always know what is right..imo

Yes, yes they do. They study for decades for some moron to read an article written by a 22 y/o hippi mom about eating a certain type of plants makes you malignant cancer stage 3 go away. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for plant power and everything. But with cancer you have to go full force. You can decide either to use something thats toxic, or your child being dead.

I hate that she says she doesn't understand and so she refuses it. If you don't understand THEN MAKE AN EFFORT TO TRY! Study it, do research! Her son's life is on the line, and she doesn't even care to try and understand what could save his life!

  • @kathyniebylski6735

she could have just asked the doctor what the treatment is and they would have explained it to her. I would always look up or ask what something meant if I didn't understand it.
