  • Zenith Aircraft's Roger Dubbert assembles the complete rudder assembly for the new STOL CH 750 Super Duty in an hour.
    This incredibly short build time is possible thanks to the final hole size match-drilled technology introduced with the STOL CH 750 SD.
    The STOL CH 750 SD is the newest model in the popular high-wing Zenith STOL "Sky Jeep" line of aircraft, with a higher gross weight (and more useful load) and rear jump seat.

    • @thericky1
      @thericky1 Před 6 lety

      It's called a 'cleco' and serves as a temporary rivet, holding pieces together until you actually rivet it together. Kind of like when you tape two objects together for alignment before gluing/nailing/screwing (or something) them together

    Question Rodger: Why did you put the last piece in by tucking it under the corner piece of rudder?? Is that not a way for rain and wind to enter the
    tail ? I guess it makes more sense doing it with the overlap for weather and aerodynamic purposes. Now I know this is a demo on how to, but would that not be a better way of demonstrating the build of the wing? Or will that last piece rub on the end of Fuselage? I always try to defend you but being spot on with these videos is a must! Just like flying being precise is a must! Thanks for the effort.

    what material is the plane chassis made of

    • @indyflyer
      @indyflyer Před 2 měsíci

      Main Fuselage (Chassis) is built in 2 sections: A front section, which comprises the area from the firewall, where the engine is mounted from, through the seat section. The rear section is comprised of the area aft of the flight deck and continues to finish the main body. All of the aluminum is the same 6061 T6 material . There is a steel cage roll over section which attach the two sections together. That material is an aircraft grade 4130 chrome moly steel. Most if not all holes are pre drilled, most if not all are final sized. There are numerous Utube videos that show the construction of those components.

    The entire build was for all intents and purposes done without reference to the building instructions which a first time builder should never do. I would like to have seen an example of drilling out a rivet rather that the casual reference "it's easy to do." I never did understand the purpose of the block placed under one of the beams nor why the repeated reference in pronunciation to the plural form "blocks" when only one block was used. The camera holder (sounded like Sebastien Heintz) did try to bring these two experienced and fast workers down to reality for the sake of first time homebuilders but they would just take right back off again seeming to try and set a record for how fast one of these rudder assemblies could be built. The older assistant tended to mumble and as a result was often not heard clearly enough to be understood.
